Digital doesn't necessarily mean cloud-based...

I know cloud based is streaming not technically the same as a digitally downloaded game. Still both need an internet connection in order to play.

Though if this cloud based ps network, doesn't lag and operates like watching YouTube videos. Okay, I can see myself jumping on board.

The thing I don't like about going digital, is I don't want to download a 40 gb or above game for hours, then s
tore it in an eXternal hard drive (which I still don't have btw) to save storage in my ps and who knows how many games could I save in 1 eXternal hard drive. I have like 80 ps4 games on blu-ray and who knows how many eXternal hard drives would I have bought if they were all digital copies.

I'd rather buy a game stored in a blu ray disc, have a physical artwork to look at/hold to, and just install/download updates/fiXes in the background.

With cloud you wouldn’t have to download the games and store them at all, so might be good for you. Just need an active connection while playing. Not ideal for multiplayer shooters but should be fine for single player campaign games.

Cloud sucks when you either a) have a slow connection, b) data cap, c) an unstable connection that can drop, e) the game is no longer supported and dropped, f) the company goes out of business and that's it, no more game you "own," or g) all of the above.

I don't have to worry about any of them except a ridiculous ****ing data cap (****ing ISP bull****) but I have in the past and will never forget. The cloud is fine for back up or storage but you cannot rely on it to be consistent. I have seen too many "cloud services" fail to ever rely on one.

For me a mix of physical, digital and cloud streaming will be great in future. They all have upsides and downsides. It's easy to think one can be pure physical when they are younger and haven't been collecting things for 3/4 decades. :cwink: For eg I had about 800 physical games just from the 360. They all have to go somewhere lol.

I am not saying it is binary (ironically) but that relying on digital only is definitely a worse trade off. One only has to look at what Nintendo did with the 3DS and other mobile games to see why. At least a physical copy can't be taken away so easily.

I have digital games but thats for free to play games which I uninstalled pretty quickly once I was done with them. Anyway I'd be paying the same (and sometimes more) for a digital copy, than a physical copy.

Haven't played any game from them. I see this as Sony streamlining things. They have too many studios.

Had to believe we are just 2 days away from finally feasting our eyes on Spider-Man 2 and hopefully wolverine!

Looking forward to tonight. Should be a big one after a 2 year gap.

I'm just hyped for whatever they show of Spider-Man 2 since that's all but guaranteed. Anything else they show is a bonus for me.
