I think the fact other major monsters will be included in the sequel will boost the BO for it.

One of the best things that came out of the new movie was all the Blu Rays released for older Godzilla films. Many of which were not available in the US or were rare. The only part of this that saddens me is that we'll have to wait 4 years for another giant wave of Godzilla Blu Ray releases :csad:

Hopefully they either:

A. Show more of the title character that people actually came to see.

B. Make the human characters more interesting.

C. Both.

not for us international fans, we got jack and **** of dvd/blu ray releases of the old films and all the us ones were region locked:csad:

The problem with Godzilla (and this is from a fan of it) wasnt the fact Godzilla wasnt in much. It was the fact the stuff that didnt include him wasn't great (though I didn't have that issue).

Think of how many films dont have the main hero/monster/whatever in it that long. Look at Batman was barely in The Dark Knight trilogy for what are essentially Batman films. Iron Man 3 barely had Iron Man. Cloverfield barely had the monster.

Godzilla had quite a bit of screentime in the 98 version. That was a piece of ****. Yeah Godzilla was the film for 10 minutes (2014) but that's because it was done in a way where Godzilla was a reveal character. The execution was poor of the story. If ATJ was interesting and the story was better no one would be moaning.

That is lame :csad:

The states got a whole bunch of them. I had some of them in prior releases already, but was more than happy to shell out the extra money for better copies!

Just three movies need to be released into the states. It's a pain because I still need to upgrade my VHS's.

i think the releases recently were on dvd but if they're on blu ray i want the blu ray

Agreed. I much prefer having the Blu Ray if possible. I have all of them on either DVD or Blu Ray right now, except for Return of Godzilla/Godzilla 1985 (that one has never officially been released in the US on DVD/Blu Ray in any form ever).

I need to wait for Vs Mechagodzilla and Son of Godzilla rerelease to upgrade my collection. Here's hoping for 1985 eventually.

I wonder how the presence of the other monsters will work and be explained.

I can kinda see how Rodan would work as another prehistoric creature....and maybe Ghidorah is going to be an extraterrestrial, but Mothra is a straight up campy, hippie earth goddess with two fairies that speak on it's behalf. It's going to be a tough sell.

Mothra has been separated from the twins before, though mysticism was still involved in GMK. We will see. A lot will depend on how lenient Toho is.

how will the introduction of the newer monsters going to be justified? Are they all “awakening” due to global warming? The swath of destruction caused by the Mutos and Godzilla would seem to take years, if not decades, to rebuild from. What was the final casualty toll in lives lost and injuries?
What are Rodan’s powers, besides flying?
Will Ghidorah have forearms, or only wings and hind legs?
Mothra could be too horrifying to depict with modern FX. I hate bugs! I’m not interested in seeing a giant moth.
Will there be new Mutos? If the Toho creatures are set up to be “allies” then there needs to be a common foe.

Give me this. Plzthnx. :yay:

I'm pretty certain that Toho would not allow arms on Ghidorah. They did do hind legs before, but I hope they don't do it again. Keizer Ghidorah had a lot more design issues than the legs, but it still left a bad taste in my mouth. It doesn't work well for Ghidorah.

They've given Rodan a beam weapon before (technically Fire Rodan, a different design). I don't expect them to do it here. The big thing with Rodan was that he caused sonic booms.

Following the standard, the larva form is going to be gross. I don't see them uglifying Mothra though.

Ghidorah will probably be like Smaug, but with three heads in terms of design.

Super excited for this sequel, really loved the first one despite it's issues, but I think those issues are EASILY fixed for a bigger and better sequel against Mothra, Rodan and possibly even KG.

Instead of giving Ghidorah actual arms, they can make his wings double as arms kind of like dragons/Wyvern/Wyrm whatever the technical term is for the Smaug like wings.

I have the Sony DVD for Vs Mechagodzilla! Made sure to snag that before it was out of print.

God, I hope they include Anguirus in Godzilla 3! Destroyah needs to be the big bad in Godzilla 3, also do the burning Godzilla arc in Godzilla 3. perfect way to end the trilogy!

But for now bring on Rodan, Mothra and King Ghidorah!

Sadly, I was still perfectly okay with my VHS's at the time. But, considering I still have to wait for 1985 to get put onto a modern format, I will be okay with a few other unwatchable holes in my collection.

As much as I love Destroyah, his origin is lacking without the Oxygen Destroyer. Also, the story of Godzilla going into meltdown doesn't feel appropriate to this incarnation of Godzilla. And we will see about Godzilla 2. So far, it is feeling like a spiritual remake of Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster. And I suspect Anguirus isn't one of the 5 Kaiju that Legendary licensed. But we will see.

I guess this is a great place for me to make my first post. I'm a massive Godzilla fan. And the new Godzilla has moved up all the way to my favorite Godzilla film right next to the 1954 original. I can't wait for the sequel. Four years is a wait, but it will be very worth it. Rodan, Mothra, King Ghidorah and of course the King of the Monsters himself. How can you go wrong!? I can't wait for this movie.
