Agent Carter Agent Carter - S01E05 "The Iron Ceiling"

The Red Room brainwashing bit with the girls at the beginning was creepy. I was excited about Dum Dum Dugan and the Howling Commandos showing up since I first saw the preview for this season. Nice to see John Glover show up. Dottie was pretty creepy going through Peggy's things. I don't understand why she handcuffed herself to her bed though. Preview for next week looks good.
Because that's how the Red Room girls slept in the beginning. A sign of the potency of her brainwashing.

Possibly, although there's no reason to necessarily think so. Peggy's in it deep enough that she could get in trouble for her own actions. Being the blonde woman at the club when that guy got murdered, alone, is probably enough.
That's true too, but I don't think Sousa would rat her out.

Yeah like Flick Chick said, the girls were VERY dangerous after their "treatments" and to keep them from killing each other or anyone else they were hand cuffed to the beds. I just didn't think Dottie would need to do that to sleep.

Good episode.But...I don't know. This show still isn't giving me....something.And it's sad.'cause,I'm not exactly sure what "it" is. Maybe it's this whole overarching story with Stark, just not being very interesting to me. It's like the whole world is after Stark, but can we get introduced to the "real" bad guys now? All we've had is some hired help that gets killed off by episode's end. If they're saving it for the end, that better be one helluva final!

Loved the stuff with Dottie. I felt bad for her. She's so brainwashed, she can't even sleep without hand cuffing herself.:csad:

The HC was fun in action.I love Dum Dum,and would really prefer to see he,Howard & Peggy calling the shots instead of what we have now. Maybe next season (should we get one!)

So Sousa is getting wise! I like the way his character has been playing out.

Lionel Luthor sighting!:woot:

That was messed up. Dottie Handed herself to her bed before going to sleep

I think that would have been a creepier reveal for Dottie as opposed to killing that guy last episode.

This was a great episode! I loved the fact that the SSR aren't played as a bunch of idiots...but Peggy is just better and faster at what they do than they are...and they finally realize that, so we can take a break from the feminist message. I definitely enjoyed this more than any other episode so far.

Unfortunately, I had someone talking to me the entire episode (despite my virtual silence in responding)...so if there were any comic book tie in characters or cinematic universe building, someone clue me in!

It's hard to look at Natasha the same way now wondering how many little girls necks she snapped during training. :wow:

Child or not Peggy probably should have let Dum Dum toss that grenade.

Great recap of the episode on WSJ and mentions this tid bit:

Of course, Peggy, the SSR and the Howlers didn’t see the same flashback we did, so they don’t realize this is no ordinary girl, but a young proto-Black Widow. She stabs Dugan and takes off, but not before grabbing a gun and killing one of the Howlers, Junior Juniper (James Austin Kerr). (Easter egg alert: Not only did Junior die in the comics as well – albeit in a different fashion – he was Marvel’s very first recurring character to die, way back in 1963.)

This episode did the impossible and made me like Thompson. Too bad it looks like Sousa is going to turn on Peggy.

Next week looks like it's going to be epic. Seems like Jarvis and Peggy are going to get back together, too. :word:

Yeah but think of all the other Widows out there lol Hope we see a more evil Widow with Dottie

I just don't see him doing that. I still think Dottie's going to frame Peggy for something. WHY is Dottie even THERE in the first place?

Disney once again going to the vault to use childhood memories against us and scare the bleep out of us. First it was Pinocchio and Ultron and now Snow White and indoctrinated and brainwashed neck snapping Black Widows.

None of them are really "evil" per se. They're brainwashed drones essentially. Not unlike Winter Soldier was with HYDRA actually. And Thompson's proving to be a far more interesting/nuanced character than I expected. Chad Michael Murray's acting in this entire episode was really good, especially in those "confession" scenes.

I think it's just an old habit and she wouldn't be able to sleep otherwise
heh I kinda know what that's like. My dogs used to sleep ON my feet before I divorced, NOW I have no room for a dog and need something heavy over my feet to simulate that weight. :more:

True but that doesn't mean they don't need to be stopped.A lot of murderers on death row have been psychologically and physically abused until their perspective and minds are warped. The BW and HYDRA brainwashing programs are just more focused in their abuse to create controllable killers.

So, yes they've been brainwashed but that girl she still murdered a young soldier and wounded two others and will no doubt grow up to kill more efficiently now that Peggy has let her go and Dottie's probably been offing people right and left since the school room neck snapping. It's also not beyond belief that the more ruthless among them are the ones that survive, they have that killer instinct.

Did she move in after Peggy did away with the green-suited assassin? Maybe Leviathan is intrigued with this woman who bested them and want to know what she knows. Maybe they see framing her as killing two birds with one stone: getting Peggy out of the way while distracting SSR from what they're really doing.

I didn't really mean evil as in Red Skull evil. We haven't SEEN what Nat did but from the sounds of it she did some pretty horrible things before being saved.
I want to see stuff THIS Widow would do to give a visual so to speak.

Leviathan might be hoping Peggy could also lead them to Stark. Lucky for Howard he never knocked on Dottie's door as he made his made his mission of mercy tour. :woot:

But Dottie has to go down. Forget all the murders, she stole touched and stole Steve's photo. :o I was concerned there for a moment she was going to find the blood.

THIS is what I'm thinking too. It has to be something to do with Leviathan, heck it COULD be that Peggy was Cap's girl friend and they want serum or blood for the Red Room

ok folks, I have to lock up. Have fun speculating! :D

So if the girls in the Black Widow program fight to the death, does that mean only one person in the class becomes a Black Widow by being the last girl standing?

I think the story arc is so compelling because it is a limited series. They can't draw anything out. In any other series, it would have taken ten episodes for Peggy to be outed or discovered. Here... BAM... time to move! I love the pace yet there really is true depth. That's a tough thing to pull off but they've done it quite well.

I thought they had simply just left one of the girls behind to take care of business. I assumed they weeded out the weak kind of like the Spartans did in the movie 300.
