Why?! She built up a solid fan base as a writer through Captain Marvel and has given the character a bigger profile.
I hate the hair. It sucks. A so-called military haircut does not necessarily mean a butch haircut. Since when did comic books have to be so grounded in practicality?
I did enjoy Agent Carter, so I will be intersted in their take on Carol.
Ran out of ideas I guess.
Any idea who Marvel may choose to replace her?
I was going to post this in the question thread, but here is good as any:
I has come to my attention that Carol and Spidey had a thing going on. Is it still going on?
I really hope they don't go with that haircut, it looks ridiculous. If Anne Hathaway's Selina Kyle could get away long hair in "The Dark Knight Rises" there's no reason why Carol Danvers can't in her own bloody film. Not a fan of the haircut, but the new costume is a nice refinement of the redesign. I like it. I might actually try this out. I dropped DeConnick's run shortly into the new series because, as much as I admire her effort and her dedication to the character, her writing just never really grabbed me.
Also, I'm pretty sure DeConnick mentioned in an interview or Twitter post or something that she's leaving because, with the movie coming, she'd have to commit to long-term plans with the character--complete with studio interference--for years.
they're gender swapping Carol to a dude?
weird
now, I'm not saying the mono-kini was a good look, but this is clearly overcompensating in the other direction
what was wrong with the current costume?
so they can just stop doing the helmet, that simple
I preferred the current costume's more classic military touches
the new one is too "every-superhero-needs-batman's-body-armor" for me
and that's to say nothing of the Biebs 'do
I really hate the current costuming trend, and hope it will one day be mocked like the pouches-and-shoulder-pads 90's are today

Military women don't all sport butch cuts. They can have long hair it just has to be done up to keep it out of the face and neck.
