The President Trump Thread

Umm...no but continue putting words in my mouth.

Read carefully, words matter. IF - I never said you were (while it's true I never said you weren't either, it is neutral).

Kyle, I have to say if you are calling that entire list disgusting that seems a bit too much dude. Unless you really know the ins and outs of every single pick and have proof that they are all bigots, it seems like you may be letting the disappointment in Trump being President take over your views on everything.

As said, do your research and read up on them yourself (I have). Me just telling you isn't going to do anything. I do know out of common sense that there were many just as qualified, at the very least, who aren't bigoted. This is common to businesses, so how do they narrow down? By asking if they fit the bill for the "company culture." It's a very common business practice.

I mean Tim Kaine signed a bill in his state to not only oppose gay marriage but also civil unions in 2006, I didn't hear anyone calling him a bigot.

After opposing gay marriage in his 2005 gubernatorial run, he later broke with the church to support it. He’s personally against abortion but has consistently voted in favor of abortion rights.

kaine has balanced his faith vs. what's best for americans - he changed his view on gay marriage which proves he can separate church and state. he doesn't let his personal beliefs of abortion interfere with trying to control a woman and her body.

If you don't think there is overreaction going on I'd also research some other things to consider other viewpoints. I actually don't hate Obama or think he was a failure as President, but good use for making a point that the condemnation of total list is silly. Appointing someone who views abortion as a tool to control over population crises (Obama administration). Having a treasury secretary fail to pay SSN and Medicare taxes for years upon years while working for IMF (Obama administration). Harry Reid saying Obama is a great choice cause he can speak with nego dialect. Not racist at all  Was Eric Holder the most qualified or Jeh Johnson for their positions? It's convenient to say that there could be more qualified people for Trump's team, but then ignore maybe... there were more qualified people for an Obama team as well. I would not call an entire list of Obama appointees deplorable nor would I for Trump's list. It just reeks as an over reactionary play because a specific side didn't win.

/\ That's if you're a Democrat, doesn't match up to those who are true independents.

Really good points on both sides. I feel I need to read more lol. :awesome:

way far in speculation but imagine if trump made gore secretary of state lol

That's great, but 700 jobs here, 1000 jobs there...that's like moving a few pebbles of sand on the beach. Unless Trump's strategy is to only save jobs in swing states so he can tout that in his re-election campaign.

Yeah, for context, the Obama administration created something like 150,000 jobs on average every month. So although these instances are welcome news, they aren't enough to warrant celebrating just yet.

But Obama didn't go on Twitter saying how it was all because of him personally, so they don't count.

Kaine, Obama, Clinton all changed their views because they are opportunistic for votes. It was advantageous to oppose gay marriage 10 years ago and all three of them did. Yet now they are social heroes at the front of the line for gay rights. Yeah right. It's only a positive now because it's socially acceptable.

lol that you think they all changed their minds because they evolved or had a great awakening.

If I had to guess, I'd say that they always believed in gay rights, but publicly changed their position when popular sentiment aligned with them.

Conversely, many Republicans probably never believed in gay rights. I imagine they'll change as well though once it becomes too politically toxic to hold their bigoted opinions. Their base hasn't come around yet, but they will eventually.

I don't think that Kaine, Obama, or Clinton are "social heroes" because of their newly changed views. Like most things with Dems and Republicans though... On the one hand, we've got the Dems who says things that I like... even though they are probably just in favor of them due to politics. on the other hand, we've got Republicans who don't say things I like, because they are legitimately against progressive causes.

Both sides are bad... but it's important to keep it in context. Is Obama the second coming when it comes to gay rights issues? No. But he practically walks on water when compared to Jeff Sessions or Karl Rove on gay rights issues. Maybe Obama is faking it. But at least he's doing that; folks like Pence are basically calling it a moral sin. When forced between the choice of a liar or a sociopath, I guess I choose the liar. At least they care enough about the thoughts and opinions of others that they might be right twice a day. Folks like Pence and Sessions, they're the true believers. I admire them for their integrity... unfortunately, they're also cold hearted, self centered, and potentially insane.

I don't care if people change their minds for advantageous reasons, as long as they do. If someone doesn't personally believe in gay marriage but passes laws or votes for it to be legal anyways, then who cares what they think in their private life? Same with abortion.

I tend to agree. What one believes or does in their own personal lives is their own business. You could be the most greedy person in the world, but if you pass legislation that helps thousands of homeless... then that's enough for me.
The area where I take exception though is when folks criticize others for doing what they do. Hypocrisy is something I find difficulty with forgiving. If you're a family values politician, and you pass anti-lgbt legislation only to find that you are actually closeted gay yourself... then F*&* you! If you got an abortion, but you're actively trying to make it impossible for others to do the same... then you're a terrible person.

Obama's Secretary of State openly expressed racist and anti-Semitic views against Israel.

Then that person should be criticized for it. But that by no means excuses Trump and his cabinet, not saying that you are saying that just to clarity.

Trump is in direct opposition to what Kerry and Obama expressed toward Israel, and Kerry did it at Obama's behest. I will never forgive Obama or Kerry for this ever.

Israel certainly needs to be knocked down a peg or two.

What exactly did Kerry say that was so horrible towards Israel?

Nor as a Hispanic will I ever bow down to the twitter tyrant who wants to toss us behind his wall. Nor to Pence who wants to electric shock me. Wish Trumpty Dumpty falls off it and breaks his head and cripples Pence on the way down.

If you note I even said criticize away. Two wrongs doesn't make a right.

"Israel can either be Jewish or democratic. It can't be both."

You do you. But I'm not going to suddenly ignore the actions of Kerry and Obama as if they are all gloss and have never committed any racist or anti-Semitic acts.

That's it? And you took that quote completely out of context from what I'm reading elsewhere.

I think you're being a bit dramatic about this.

No I did not. I'm not being dramatic. Maybe some people aren't being dramatic enough. For him to actually say that is not only offensive, it's anti-Semitic. Who is he to say what Israel can or cannot be? He who has done absolutely nothing regarding any sort of Palestinian Israeli solution in the last eight years, but suddenly with three weeks left in office pulls this dirtbag move?

Should have clarified myself. As said before, not saying you are saying this because it doesn't sound like you are. All I'm saying is one's bigoted words doesn't excuse the bigoted words of another. That what Kerry did doesn't excuse what Trump says or does against my people. Both in the wrong. Personally feel like I have to survive in occupied territory now.
