I don't know but something tells me that there might be a Steve Rogers cameo as a big surprise

Would you guys mind that?

All I got from the first trailer was that this is basically Marvel's Gorilla City. Plus BP looks in line with the majority of MCU heroes whose powers are (mostly) relegated to superhuman punching and athletics. I guess that's why I prefer DC and X-Men more but anywho...

I hope my ignorant butt is enlightened by this next trailer.

Lastly, slightly off-topic, in real life it would be nice to one day see Africa become more developed. They have the natural resources to be a superpower in their own right, but for whatever reasons (mainly foreign interference, and also corruption in politics? hm sounds familiar) they are not anywhere near reaching industrialization.

Hmm...you might need to do a little research. You can't paint an entire continent with one brush.

Oh, I get it now. You're here to backdoor brag about DC's movies.

If that were the case, I would be the one arguing Chris Pine and Robin Wright have more starpower than the cast of BP. Also, I've been rooting for Gal Gadot since 2013 (moreso elsewhere than The Hype at the time). Her recent success has nothing to do with my comment.

Do you mean like a post-credits scene?

In a post credits scene I am sure some longtime MCU player will show up. Cap is a good bet but... I am leaning towards Sam's Fury.

Both in the movie and the post credit scene

Not in the movie. Let him uh, freeze with Bucky.

Both in the movie and the post credit scene

Definitely not in the movie for me, for two reasons: the main reason is that I want T'Challa to stand on his own, without having to have Cap sweep in and steal his thunder, which is really important considering the cultural implications (To put it bluntly, I don't want the first black superhero to be upstaged by a white dude, and I feel like even a minor cameo by Cap would do that.)

The second reason is that I want some mystery about what Cap has been up to saved for Infinity War.

Frankly, I'd rather not see Cap even in the post-credit scene--Fury I'd be OK with, and maybe Bucky (If only for the inevitable dialogue: 'Didn't I kill you?' 'You tried, I got better..')

There's no point in bringing up the fact that Wonder Woman was a success without big stars unless you're trying to make some sort of statement about the validity of the decision to cast stars in Black Panther. That, coupled with some of the other things you've said here, does give me the sense that you're basically taking digs at the movie to try and big up DC's films.

You realize Chris Pine is a bigger name than anyone in BP right?

I could believe that. But to the average person he's just another pretty boy white actor who stars in franchise films. He isn't an artsy talent like Gyllenhaal/Gosling and he's not a box office star like Chris Pratt/Channing Tatum. He's somewhere in the pack.

BP's success should put the likes of Chadwick and Michael on the A-list.

I'd like a small cameo from Steve Rogers or Natasha. Certain scenes in Civil War indicated they had something worthy to put in this film.

Now a cameo by War Machine or Tony Stark wouldn't make much sense and would detract from the film.

Huh, I've noticed recently the number of LOTR/Hobbit actors in the MCU.

Given how little the public really knows about the Panther from comics and with CW being his big mass audience introduction it is understandable that some are scratching their heads about Jordan's lack of accent, given every other actor other than Freeman and Serkis are using a "Wakanda" accent. It's a minor thing. I am sure the film will explain Kilmonger's history.

Aloha,
From Marvel .com
N'Jadaka was a child when Ulysses Klaw invaded Wakanda to pilfer the country's Vibranium. Klaw enslaved some Wakandans including N'Jadaka's family. Although Klaw was ultimately driven out of Wakanda, N'Jadaka's parents were killed during the violence, and Klaw took N'Jadaka with him. N'Jadaka eventually escaped to the U.S.A. but had no way of returning to Wakanda. He changed his name to Erik Killmonger, lived in Harlem, New York, and studied engineering and business, eventually teaching at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology).

Spidey rules except in Wakanda

Ok, so this has probably been discussed, but what's up with the blue lights on the suit? Is it some kind of upgrade? If so do we know what it does?

Some interesting bits from the Prelude comic:
T'Challa took on the Panther mantle from his father ten years ago, at about the same time as Tony Stark announced he was Iron Man
At this point (ten years ago), T'Chaka is still very much interested in keeping Wakanda in the shadows
S'Yan shows up as a 'Q' like figure.
T'Challa's relationship with Okoye is going to be very fun (she's along on the mission)
One of the villains was given Vibranium bullets by a 'past employer' (I'm guessing Klaw)
Yeah the comic was pretty cool but I'm confused.
Kevin Feige said that T'Challa was just beginning to take on the role of Black Panther in Civil War but in the comic he became Black Panther ten years ago.
So I guess plans changed.

When they watch the movie they'll soundly get their answer. The problem with people today is that they assume too much and aren't patient enough to gsther facts or/and are too lazy to do basic research.

I'm actually glad they adjusted that.

I'd read the same interview, but it never made sense that T'Challa had only recently taken on the role--to me it always made more sense that T'Chaka had given up the mantle a while ago--John Kani is great, but I couldn't see him as a recently active warrior/superhero given his age in Civil War. Also, the way T'Challa was written seemed much more self-assured in the role than I'd expect someone new to the role to be. I think Feige's interview was the only evidence for TChalla being new to the BP mantle. as far as I remember, There's nothing in Civil War that's inconsistent with T'Challa having been BP for several years.

(Spoiler tags are just for the prequel comic)

Yeah. I have a hard time seeing this clock in at 2hrs 30min.

Don't know about what? The length?

The Phase 3 solo films have been longer though.

GOG2 2hrs 16 mins SMHC 2hrs 13 mins Thor 3 2hrs 10 mins

Civil War 2hrs 27 mins

Doctor Strange was under 2hrs and I think the movie suffers from that. Its still good, but just not enough time spent in the world.

I don't think it will be 2hrs 30 mins. Primarily because I'm not sure they're going to let this movie be longer than Infinity War.

So with all the story telling needed I think the max we get is 2hrs 20 mins.

It would be very difficult to buy T'Chaka as BP in his physical shape. That goes well beyond suspension of disbelief into Mystery Men territory. :funny: So...are you saying that he IS new to being Black Panther, or are you saying that he has been Black Panther for a while?

Civil War really shouldn't be considered a solo movie, honestly, and GOTG2 is such an ensemble piece that the extended runtime makes sense. Same thing with Ragnarok if that turns out to be the case. Since there are no other main MCU characters in this film, I think it'll be around the 2 hr mark.

T'Challa has been BP for about ten years, according to the comic.

This contradicts an interview from Feige, but makes much more sense
