Wonder Woman 1984 General Discussion and Speculation - Part 2

The ferry scene is quite a different situation.
First of they are there as a group, anyone going up to take the trigger would have everyone else's eyes on them, everyone would know afterward that they had done it. That creates a kind of pressure that was absent in WW84.
TDK also focused heavily on the idea that Gotham had been inspired by Harvey Dent, that he was a moral leader who people tried to emulate. The idea being that his example weighed on the minds of those in the ferry, disuading them from using the trigger.
And finally there is the sample size, there were hundreds of people on the ferry, but billions in contact with Lord. The odds of getting a bad apple are weighed far more heavily against WW84.
The bottom line is that it's unrealistic as all hell. It's about survival. There would have been one person on that ship who would have prized saving their own skin over the lives of a bunch of murderers and thieves, and risked looking like a monster in front of everyone else. The notion that there wouldn't have been one person willing to turn the key is a statistical impossibility.

I know I am late but man when I saw this movie in a drive in theater day after xmas has its likely going to be awhile before normal theaters are open here in ca I was so disappointed. The first movie was great and I was pretty hyped for this movie. The villains where lame and way less interesting than the first movie. The story was not that good and there was hardly any action. I dont even fell a need or a want to watch this again where the first movie I own and have watched like 10 times. The first like 50 minutes or so where pretty borning and over all not really any thing I like about the movie outside of like how the main villain was defected.

Best Picture? lol.

I admire the movie, but this is a big “huh?” I’m sure even most of the people who like the movie wouldn’t agree that it’s best picture worthy.

Although I was NOT one of them, Some said the same thing about Black Panther.

.....ok. I wish them all the luck. But I guess since there are only so many films in 2020...the chances are better (wont win but)

This is not Best Picture worthy.

Just...no. And they shouldn't do it because it delegitimizes the push for DC movies that might be.

I Liked them both.

Sure that is fine to like both movies. but we can all say that BP had a better script and imo better music.

Anyway, i still think it is too much to consider WW84 for all oscar categories.

WW84 might not garner any nominations.
But, as somebody who really enjoyed the film, I appreciate this effort by WB.

I hear all the time that fans don't like CGI effects, they want movies to be filmed on locations using real stunt work, wire-work, Practical effects, well Patty did all that for WW84 but people still complain.
. this
Whatever your complaints are, this shot of Lily Aspell (no stunt double) as kid Diana looks great !

Black Panther wasn't Oscar worthy either tbh.

Great idea, maybe a movie (or a limited episode series) for HBO Max ? Get Connie Neilsen and Robin Wright too and they already have many costumes from previous 3 movies (WW, JL and WW84) for Amazons, so they can save some money there.

you're so right people will always complain especially when the movie doesn't turn out the way they want it too.

I actually really liked the opening scene with a young Diana Prince.

The whole concept of "you can't cheat your way to what you want" ties into Max Lord perfectly.

At the very least, they could do something like what CBS All Access does with Short Treks. Give us a Young Diana short film, I am sure that it is VERY DOABLE!

So the Amazon spin off that Patty wants lol
