Justice League Zack Snyder Directing Justice League (The Snyder Cut Edition)

The characters were here before Snyder and they'll be here after Snyder. No one figure is bigger than the characters themselves, the man himself has even acknowledged this many times. Certain fans might not be thrilled with the way things have gone, but you're never gonna see me give up interest in stuff like this. I'm still in here discussing the director's cut because I'll always have a personal stake in the characters, regardless of my feelings on previous efforts.

Anyone giving up on DC movies, after all thats already happened, just seems silly to me. I really do think we have already been through the worst of it. If you love these characters above all, surely you'll find something down the pipeline to get excited for.

Exactly, I love Snyder’s vision, but I also love these characters. I’m pumped for more content.

I imagine a lot of Snyder fans will “give up on DC Films” after SC. But what did they think would happen? Fisher would all of a sudden not care about the investigation and take the job? Or WB would fire Hamada? I’ve heard of the dude, but that’s dramatic and kinda silly imo. The people they’re so upset with literally backed the movie they’ve been begging for and now they’re still whining left and right? Having issues is whatever, but announcing some breakup with a brand name is weird.

Couldnt agree more. I mean, look, everyone is perfectly entitled to feel however they feel but it really does feel like after releasing the SC, WB is just getting s*** on from all angles instead of, i dunno just being happy that theyre letting Snyder do this and say thank you. Granted, technically its more At&t’s doing than WB but its still a Warner Bros picture.

Idk man, thats why i only hang out on these boards to talk about this stuff. Everyone here is just happy to have the Snyder cut and happy to move on after that. I really cant deal with the fandom outside of this place.

It can get soooo toxic and just plain dumb sometimes. Not even just about Snyder, but everything. Can’t even hold conversations at times because the other person only wants to **** on everything lol

It amazes me sometimes how one person can be worshipped in such a way. I love Snyder too but im not obsessed with him. I love Snyder the same way I love Ridley Scott or Denis Villeneuve or Nolan or Sam Raimi, i love their filmmaking style and I’m always interested in seeing their projects, whether good or bad.

easy fix...

You think you can mess with his mother ?

Explains and excuses Superman's reaction and momentary anger.

While it's a little artificial in the way Snyder presents it, it's also done that way intentionally. But Superman has come to this situation under great emotional duress (his mom's life is on the line and Luthor is a psychopath who threw Lois off a building). He also came to the fight knowing that Batman has become very unhinged and unreasonable (as per Clark's investigations in Gotham). Superman says, "Bruce, I was wrong, you have listen to me. Lex wants to..." Then he steps into a bat trap. "You don't understand, there is NO time." "I understand. :cmad:" So Clark superpushes Bats 50 feet to knock some sense into this guy that he knows may be irrational at the moment. Then another battrap. So then, Superman who, again, is worried for his mother's life and is on the clock is like, Ok, maybe that woman was right, maybe Batman only does respond to one thing. So Superman tries to knock some sense into Batman, telling him afterwards that if he were his enemy, that if he wanted to actually kill him, he would have already done so, that the fact that he took it "easy" on him proves that. Then the kryptonite comes into play and from there it's a fight for survival as Superman never would have imagined this guy could have something that could actually harm him or kill him.

Oh, and Snyder Cut! Yay!

You guys write more fascinating internal dialogues and views inside the mind of Superman than the film was unable or unwilling to do. Watching the actual fight... there were no subtle cuts to the past or feelings of doubt, confusion, or anguish. They just began fighting and it started with an aggressive push from Supes.

I dunno whether to clap for such passionate fan essaying or shake my head at the subtle ways that film could have better convey the moment.

Well, in my case I think its no secret that my Batman is the old cranky Miller Bats and my Superman is one that fights gods mano a mano. Snyder gave me just that so I'm very invested on his take on the characters. Now, WB has a lot of convincing to do with me, because I'm simply not interested in making the secondary tier characters full with spin-offs while making yet another rookie Batman story in his 2nd year, which we already got in TDK. On top of that, no Superman project to be seen and the rumors are always about rehashing the Donner Supes style, which we already know how it ended up last time in 2006. Say what you want about Snyder, but we had never seen a verteran Batman on screen, we had never seen a god-tier Superman on screen going all out and we had never seen these characters interact with each other. This new direction they're going in... meh.

Y'know, I actually posted something relevant to this earlier in the BVS thread... hint hint

I've clearly still have plenty of battle-scars from my time there. But I have no use in contributing in to that thread as I do with the "Zack Snyder Appreciation Thread" created years ago.

Zack Snyder/MOS/BVS/WW/JL/DCEU are forever entwined in each other's thread at the Hype.

But it didn't start with the superpush. Batman initiated it after Superman tried to talk to Batman. Most of what I wrote up there is actual dialogue from the movie. The only internal dialogue was what I put in quotes.

And yay Snyder Cut.

The moment Supes fought back... is when the fight started, imo.

But as a parent would say "it doesn't matter who started it!" fan-lawyers on both sides would argue in favor of who was the aggressor.

So Batman attacking Superman with a sonic device and high-powered machine guns don't count as fighting?

I wonder if we will actually see Martian Manhunter in his alien form.

Superman remained non-threatening after that. It did nothing, what do you call that? I'm sure one side thought the fight was on. But the memo wasn't received on the other side.

Had Supes not pushed him. Would those turrets even pop up and attack Superman?

Right, that's why I wrote the rest of what I wrote above. That at this point, Superman realizes this guy is unhinged and irrational and will not stop unless he gets a little rough with him and puts him into submission so he can speak some sense into him.

Personally, I don't think MM is going to be Martha, at least not in any important scenes. Maybe there's just one scene of him being Martha but it won't be a scene she shares with Lois or anything important like that.

well... Batman did plan and set an entire attack with the express goal of KILLING Superman. Some may say HE started it.

go Snyder cut...

But of course it was all orchestrated by lex.

The “anti-life” equation makes people do bad things...

Should do a parody with the song,
Crystal blue persuasion...

I get your interpretation. It's honorable and puts Supes in a good light. True Superman fan.

I'm cynical so, for me, Superman stopped caring altogether about a guy he barely knows and stops being the good guy that wouldn't snap a dude's neck if pushed. There are literally several ways people can take Supe's reaction to this moment and run in different directions.

You went the way of the hero with a little "love tap" that doesn't hurt anyone in the long run.

...yeah, I think I'm going to keep out of this thread since despite being told to take this chat to the BvS threads, some of you are still continuing it.

Someone @ me when news that are actually relevant to Snyder's JL are discussed in this Justice League thread.

So wheres Chris Terrio at? Does he even care about this movie anymore? :funny:

Battinson is in year two. Bale was in year one (10 months to be exact) and then he pretty much hung up his cape and cowl. He wanted a way out from the get-go and it was not the POV driven detective story that we’re about to get. So it’s not the same at all. It’s not even the same genre.

I do get what you’re saying regarding the freshness of a veteran Batman who’s been at it for 20 years. It WAS fresh. But this will be the third attempt at that (even if it’s the second movie) in 5 years. And a 8 year journey since MOS to build a shared universe with this deconstructed take on Supes & Bats. I’m over it now. They had their chance. I just hope the characters are finally fully formed in time for ZSJL, that way it’s a good swan song.

I agree about second tier characters with spin offs. I’m not excited either. I’m not invested.
