Wonder Woman 1984 General Discussion and Speculation - Part 2

Why did you quote yourself when you were using my question?

Not everyone has a mentality of the Marvel/DC war. You seem to discount the fact that someone might watch an episode of a show and dislike it. It literally happens all of the time...its why shows get cancelled after a few weeks. People try them and don't like them. Pretty common.

You like it and that is fine. You dislike WW84 and that is fine as well. They liked WW84 and found nothing of value in the Wanda show. Now maybe that is because they are predisposed to dislike Marvel or maybe Wanda didn't pique their interest. Who are you to say what their motivation is? I have no dog in the fight I have zero interest in the MCU and WW84 was mediocre as I have posted multiple times but just because someone liked one more than the other doesn't mean what you are implying it means.

The only one scapegoating here is you. You seem offended somebody dislikes something you like and are coming at them over it for no reason. I am not sure if it is just a lost in translation thing or if you are super young or just trolling but it seems a bit out of line if you ask me.
DC fans deserve WW84 and Marvel fans deserve WV. I'll leave it at that.

I think that is an oversimplification even with all of your caveats. There would have been a much steeper dropoff by the end of the weekend because of mediocre reviews hitting and WOM not being great. It would have overperformed versus WW opening weekend but would have fallen off a cliff by midweek and the next weekend would have seen a significant loss. So to say it outperformed WW is technically true but in reality that press would have last 5 days at best because it would have way worse legs.

Not to mention it should outperform the first film, the sequel was highly anticipated. Sequels usually are much more front loaded and this would have been EXTREMELY frontloaded.

That is why it is the perfect film for Max. Frontloading doesn't matter and neither do legs. Engagement and subs are what mattered and it had those in spades. Even people ripping the film doesn't matter because if you have the app it is free to try and if you hate it all you lost was the time.

I think it is disingenuous of some of these people to try and make these metrics look like they parallel because they don't. The sheer amount of concessions you made proves that and it just sounds too much like BS spin. (not you, them) It is like certain segments of the Snyder Cut fanbase who seem to think that because they are vocal and are going to talk up the movie to high heaven that it means there is going to be some sort of reckoning and people who hate his films will all of a sudden change their tune. That isn't how things work in the real world. WW84 would have had a huge opening weekend but would have struggled to hit the $822 million that the first one made with a (assumed) much bigger budget IMHO.

That is how I feel about it and I could be completely off.
I wanted to respond to this earlier but life has happened over the past couple weeks and/or days. But overall I respect your perspective on this. My response would be I guess we will never know but I have I feeling it would have done better than you all may think it would have done. The fact remains that WW84 did exactly what it needed to do for HBO Max and perhaps whatever films and shows that follow its release on the platform.

Anyway... I notice that you guys have been kept busy by a Cuckoo For Cocoa Puffs marvel fanatic. There is something fascinating about a Marvel fan that will literally FREAK OUT if one negative thing is said about a Marvel property, or if someone doesn't like something, or perhaps likes something from DC better. Its really the most hilarious thing. And this toxicity from(some not all of) these marvel fans goes largely ignored because its Marvel after all. No wrong can come from them... Not even from a hyperventilating fan.

Ah so you are just a troll. Next time try and at least be clever or entertaining or just stick to the Marvel threads and stop wasting our time with your silly fanboy wars.

Yeah we will never know. As I have said I hope I am in the minority in my opinions of the film and its response. I enjoy reading people's thoughts who liked it because I enjoy people enjoying films especially if I didn't.

Thanx, geosphere. So far, I have only been able to track down part of it. Scoured YouTube and there's only edited versions of that clip...
You mean what he says about flight? What he says to her in the plane:

"It's so easy, really. It's...it's wind, and air, and knowing how to ride it, how to catch it...how to join with it. Yeah. It's like anything, really."

Wonder Woman 1984 will not get a cinema release in Germany it seems - Sky will show it.

This is not surprising. Too much time has passed for this movie to get a theatrical release in markets that weren't open back in Dec. Some of those markets are still not even open.

THANK YOU flickchick85! Yeah exactly that. As far as I can find, only part of that is repeated in her mind as she learns to fly. Thanks again. I used that for a little pick-me-up for my pregnant wife who has been having some physical problems she has struggled to overcome. I printed it out and gave her the Funko Pop of Diana flying. This helped a ton!

Also, thanks geosphere for the assist! You guys rock.

And now, back to your regularly scheduled programming...

This dialogue is from my favorite moment in the film.
Mere moments after renouncing her wish, Steve literally inspires Diana to greater heights.

Not seeing many people report this, but Connie Nielsen seems to have confirmed that the Amazon spinoff is a go.

Wonder Woman Spinoff Is Prequel & Sequel To Original Movie
Well, I can tell you that it's not just after what happens in Wonder Woman. There's also some other stuff in there, which is related to a prior time as well. There is a lot of different sort of things that you can see where the story is a little bit origin minded, but there are also other times involved. So yes, exciting to show you guys.

Found it odd that nobody is reporting it but even odder that she would be so open about the details before an official announcement.

That is kind of odd. Maybe they were waiting until after the Snyder Cut but she spilled the beans early.

Wandavision was widely praised by critics and fans alike. If you are saying that WW deserves an equal amount of critical acclaim, I AM IN COMPLETE AGREEMENT WITH YOU!

You cannot compare a movie with a series, apples and oranges.

Jason Kilar at the AT&T Investor's Day presentation put up this graphic of all of the upcoming DC projects. Just announced a Zatanna series, but still no mention of the Amazon spin-off show/movie.

Why ? Also where's James Wan's The Trench or JJ Abram's Justice League Dark ? Wasn't JLD also announced ?

Same reason why WW dont really get much, its WW lol. Patty intended Amazons to be released inbetween WW94 and WW3 and link the two films. The fact that they already greenlit WW3 w/out that spin off (though they should just do HBO Max) tells plenty imo.

I figure same with The Trench. JLD, im thinking is being pushed back as they introduce Constantine and Zatanna first.

The graphic makes no sense, it's a mix of animated shows, Games, CW shows, HBO Max shows and WB movies .

Which Supergirl and which Flash is this ? CW TV show or the movie ? Also, wasn't Batgirl movie cancelled after Joss Whedon's departure?

Also, there's no Stargirl, Titans, Legends of Tomorrow, Black Lightning or Doom Patrol. Another thing to note here this could just be graphic they made to give a sense of what they're going to do in 2021 and 2022 for Investors. This is by no means a final list.

I definitely dont think its the final list but I still dont see the Amazon spin off happening.

Batgirl was put on hold but she's still important to WB/DC
