Guardians of the Galaxy from Eidos

Okay, I thought I was near the end but just played for another 3 hours and still haven't finished haha. What a blast. Some real treats in store for Marvel fans if you keep your eyes open.

Man I want an X-Men game that's basically like this, where you play Cyclops leading the X-Men.
Really hope this is in someone’s plans. Need a top quality X-Men game after all this time. Also I hope those in charge of Avengers are looking over their shoulder at this game and thinking what they could have done instead.

Just finished the game. Overall loved it. Story might even rival some of the MCU Guardians storytelling for me. Definitely feels like this is a game that will get a sequel, and I'm hopeful it will inform future Marvel games.

Honestly, I think that Avengers game got a lot of things right with their core narrative. The multiplayer in general worked... The problem was the content offering after the campaign was so thin.

I kind wish they'd split the different and offered a great 15-20 hour long co-op campaign that was still focused, with more unique level design, and abandoned the live service model completely. I think if they'd treated the game more like, Diablo or Borderlands over a repetitive MMO. (Or the more recent Outriders was a great example of what that game could have been). But I think they had enough in there that worked, but were too focused on trying to make this big ambitious thing that they just forgot to get the core experience right first.

Um this game is awesome? Where was this energy for the avengers lol.

I know they’ve said they won’t add dlc but I would love it if they could add moondragon and phylla vell as dlc. Oh well.

I really want them to make an x-men game with this style soon!

Finished it. This version of the characters and this story wipes the floor with the MCU version.

Yeah, completely. Also the writing was so good it's ruined so many other games for me haha. I just popped on Fallen Order, since I was still vibing some space themed adventures and the writing was so... lifeless. Like where was the space llama and 80's rock music?

Bought this yesterday and have been loving it. What a great surprise this game turned out to be. It’s definitely what Avengers should’ve been or was capable of being.

I'm in chapter 3. I'm shocked by how much I have loved this so far. This is the tone that James Gunn is shooting for, and fails to achieve imo. It's so loving and warm, while still being quirky. Also, no gross out humor so far is a plus.

I'm hoping this will go on sale on Boxing Day, since I imagine Black Friday is too close to its release to expect a sale then. But everything I've seen of this game looks great. In the few clips that I've watched, the team dynamics and the back-and-forth between characters seems like a real highlight.

Yeah, that's what makes it. The combat is okay. Not terrible, not great. But everything else just really works imo. I haven't enjoyed stopping to talk to other characters like this in a while. You can also see the influence from others games like TloU and God of War.

Apparently sales haven't been too hot, which isn't great hoping for a sequel. But might mean a decent deal for Black Friday, even this close.

Amazing how great Mantis is when the point of her character isn't to be constantly insulted.

I am still waiting for my copy, cancelled my Amazon order as I waited too long now waiting for the eBay one which was meant to be here Friday :argh:

Just finished it, and yeah I loved this. Probably my favorite Marvel game. So much more the comics then the MCU that the first glance would suggest. All the characters feel on point, and Nikki became an instant favorite here, just like everyone else. The characterization of the guardians is so much better then any of the early footage could have suggested.

I really want a sequel. So much promise in it.

Very pleasantly surprised by this game, loved the characters (even though I wanted to strangle Rocket for roughly a third of the game) and story, really hope they make another GOTG game, there's so much they could build on from here.

Haven’t played this game myself, since I’m pretty strapped for cash to buy a gaming console, even more so now due to being out of work for physical reasons, but I’ve watched a walkthrough of this game in my free time, and, man is this game great.

Can’t speak to the gameplay, but I really enjoyed the characters and banter between all of them. The humor can be crude, but not overly and needlessly crass. And there’s a surprising amount of pathos at times with certain characters that was surprisingly moving and brought tears to my eyes.

This version of the Guardians by far puts the MCU versions to shame. These characters are already fully formed. Peter is kind of dim, but still competent and a great leader when needed; not the bumbling goof he is in the movies. Gamora is absolutely fierce, but still can be kind and understanding. And Drax is an actually compelling character with an actually compelling character arc, and not a walking joke machine. Amazing what happens when you don’t have their mommy/daddy issues and their romantic availability make up their entire character. :whatever:

To put this into context, if Game Gamora was in that scene in the first Guardians film when the prisoners taunt her while she’s in her prison cell, she would instantly tear those fools a new one, and tear those new ones a new one.

Also, “Do the math”. That was great. :funny:

I can’t wait to start this but I promised myself I’d finish Death Stranding first.

How similar/different are they?

How that going?
Surprisingly I’m enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would but unsurprisingly it’s also not the kind of game that I’m itching to play during every possible free moment that I have. Maybe I’ll be done with it by this time next year. :o

Finished it last night. An absolute triumph. Loved every second of it and can’t wait for more.

it’s so great to see gamora as more than just Star lord’s love interest. She’s at her least interesting when they focus too heavily on that
