Halo - The Live Action TV Series - By Steven Spielberg

I’m enjoying this show a lot but this episode hammered home the criticisms that “some parts look really expensive and movie quality and other parts look like a low-budget Syfy show.” I’m going to need you to do better with the vehicles than armoring a Jeep Cherokee and some dirt bikes if you want me to believe this show takes place in the distant future. I guess since Madrigal is supposed to be run down and poor, the crappy vehicles kinda fit but they need to do a little better with the designs.

That aside, I’m still digging the show. John’s memory recovery is interesting and Halsey is a fascinating character.

I'm sure we'll get the Fall of Reach from Chief's perspective but they should absolutely make a miniseries in between this and the next season to see Reach from Noble 6's point of view.

I'd be surprised if there IS a Noble 6 in this, since they're telling their own story based on the overall lore rather than the games.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised to see some of Chief's fellow spartans function as Noble squad substitutes, giving their lives during the fall of Reach.

Side note, was anyone else surprised to have Chief mention seeing other planets get glassed? That was one moment I didn't love because I feel like it takes away the shock and impact of us seeing it happen. Would've been cool to see them do it to Reach and have it be a huge moment for all of humanity, to realise what the Covenant are capable of.

Nice episode, I liked the fact that it showed that the Spartans aren't just war machines and got brains.
Kai 125, I thought the show used camera tricks to make her look taller but no, the actress is 1.91m and Riz 028 is 1.85m.
For this episode, I skipped Soren/Kwan scenes. So far, I find their story uninteresting and a waste of time.

Edit: I forget to add : Kai 125 :hrt:

Weren't the UNSC aware of planets being glassed before Reach? Could've sworn they mentioned it in the game, I'm currently playing it and it sounds like they knew of the Covenant and their capabilities.

I have to admit I’m getting a little tired of Burn Gorman showing up in these types of shows and being some guy everyone is afraid of. He doesn’t come off intimidating.

They only have the first four episodes on Paramount+, which sucks! Was looking forward to this episode!

The last half of this episode kicked all kinds of ass IMO and I'm still not all that familiar with the games I'm guessing the big alien dude that grabbed the relic towards the end is a BIG deal in the games.

If that's the case than I really can't wait to see that guy in action and hopefully he has somekind of cool little with John who was an absolute beast in this episode just as he was in episode 1.

I know not everyone is going to feel the same about the action in this show, but I really do think the battle sequences are really well done in terms of being gritty, visceral and even quite brutal at times.

Obviously, its for budget reasons but I actually find it more effective that they do show so much restraint when it comes to the level violence so that when crap does finally hit the fan it feels almost like an adrenaline fueled slap to the face although I wouldn't necessarily complain if their was a bit more of it either.

It's a Brute. They're the big muscle guys in the covenant, often equipped with Gravity Hammers.

More unfinished CG and what sounds like un-polished audio with Cortana in the latest episode:

They have to ruin it though with those goofy closeups on Chief's face inside the helmet.

That ties in with him not controlling his emotions. Kai's issue was fear or hesitation where as Chief's was anger. I had no problem with them, in fact they belonged in the episode's theme of Spartans dealing with emotions in different ways.

Also, I don't know what's supposed to be unpolished with Cortana's voice. That's literally what she's supposed to sound like.

It's crazy how much bigger the Covenant are than Humans, you almost dont get a sense of it in the games.

The problem is that it looks goofy and overdone and unnatural.

The audio doesn't sound integrated and immersive.

Yeah that was all kinds of awesome. Chief unloading on those Covenants to save Kai was dope and loved the introduction of the Brute very much looking forward to round 2. Glad we got the reveal that the UNSC kidnapped the Spartans when they were children.

I love the fact that this show is morally gray and there’s a real deep layer to both sides of the war. I just need some more development on the Convenant because their angle and why their after the Halo is interesting with the religious element.

Glad we at least are getting more character development with the Keyes family dynamic. I love the storytelling and character work of this show so far but this episode was the adrenaline injection this show needed after the past few episodes. Eagerly awaiting the next episode.

Looked at some reactions on YouTube from the big battle and Chief jumping from the Warthog to the Banshee was most definitely a cheer moment. Poor little Grunt got a pistol to the head though. When Chief was killing that Elite even Kai was like he’s had enough haha.

Also I love that they have an after show but it also just makes me remember that damn Sydnee Goodman is fine.
