House of the Dragon House of the Dragon General Discussion Thread (TAG SPOILERS)

Really interested how the events surrounding the wedding play out - they seem to have made some changes. Excited to see people's reactions to it, but also disappointed that the truncated nature of this season means we aren't really attached to a lot of the characters having big moments in these next few episodes.

I mentioned before in one of these thread that since the book isn't 100% accurate, the show has more room to change things up. In the book we usually get like 3 versions of a story. So just consider this series another version of the story. I think they still plan to hit the main moments though, well I hope they do.

Oh, I know, that's what keeps it exciting even for book readers. But I was referencing

that they've apparently cut the wedding tourney and the fight will just happen at the feast

Just one wedding without any violence or bloodshed. Even that's impossible for the Seven Kingdoms this far back.

That was one heck of a wedding night for sure. Holy crap!

That preview....those children....none of them are blond/white haired....I know this couple aint that stupid.

I know, right? How can that even be passed off as plausible?

I'm just really dumbfounded. I know he's gay but they can still get it on every now and then to have some kids. Even my girl Margaery Tyrell knew how to get it if she had to. Along with Rhaenerys genes not being dominate? First time im a little weary of whats to come!

Agreed. A smart couple could get the minimum business done -- heir and a spare.

Seeing that they just tend to end in catastrophe even hundreds of years before the Red one, it's astonishing weddings weren't outlawed in Westeros. I mean damn.
Hee hee, true. :p

It's less stupid and more arrogant. Rhaenyra believes that her word is law. And, I mean, it kind of is. Obviously that's going to backfire eventually. But as we've seen from Rhaenyra, she's reckless and doesn't give a **** about the common courtesies that are necessary to build allies. She thinks her name and position are enough to do whatever she wants.

Eh, maybe...she was smart enough to agree with marrying Laenor

This is the kind of thing that makes me warm to Allicent, it's just utter carelessness from Rhaenyra yet it's Allicent, and her children, at risk of being murdered. Allicent was forced into the game really.

I don't get the hatred towards her.

If she has to submit to a match, Laenor is perfect for her because she knows he's gay and cuts straight to the chase of "We can both just sleep with whoever we want." But even then she was still willing to ditch in the middle of the wedding to elope with Daemon.

Allicent is fine, the problem is that people see her in the way of a female queen. It goes no deeper than that. Technically Rhae IS the rightful heir cause the king said so. They're all just victims of their world so to speak.

Daemon mysteriously vanished from the melee which I find interesting. He probably left with a smirk given the way he treated that Royce.

I'm like you, I'm getting more sympathetic to her all the time. :)

I actually thought he was going to kidnap the Princess, or kill the husband to be.

That's how the trailer for the ep suggested alright!

I just think that even though he loves his brother and niece, the more chaos the better as it suits his needs. He could have got involved out of worry for his niece but seemingly walked away.
