This thing will barely gross $700M WW. It sounds like a big number but that’s the lowest amount since Fast 6 and the budget for this one is a lot more.

Fate of the Furious made a billion just on international box office. FX has only made about $500M. I don’t see how they can justify making 2 more with these kind of returns.

I was expecting the overseas to still be quite strong even if the game’s over domestically.

Looking back at 2017 it really is insane how HUGE Fate of the Furious was OS despite taking a plummet from Furious 7 domestically and the lack of Paul Walker, but man OS audiences really ate it up especially China.

I think Universal and Vin Diesel got a bit full of themselves thinking that this franchise was still going to pull in those kinds of numbers which probably partially explains those ridiculous budgets for F9/FX.

This franchise just isn't going to be nearly as successful as it was in its peak even if they are bringing back some fan favorite characters because that's just how diminishing returns work.

There's no way they are going to be doing two more of these movies and if they want that next movie to have any chance at being successful than they need to cut those budgets significantly.

Well, Elsa Pataky and Daniela Melchior's characters are supposed to be Brazilian, but Elsa Pataky is Spanish and Melchior is Portuguese, even though Brazil has that Portuguese connection going.

Also, I recall Dom has that one street racing friend who is also Brazilian.

Yeah, that’s kinda what I meant; I was looking up all the characters who are supposed to be Brazilian and they’re all from Europe or in Momoa’s case, the U.S. I just wonder if Brazilians are annoyed that none of the main characters who are supposed to be from there are played by actual Brazilians.

EDIT: Kane is right; Jordana is half Brazilian, so at least there’s that.
