I'd love to see Russel as Jonathan Kent, my main thing is I just want Jonathan Kent to actually be alive, ever since Donner's film live action Superman (except Lois and Clark) has largely treated killing off Jonathan Kent before Clark becomes Superman as a requirement and it bugs me. You don't need to kill him off just to teach Clark a lesson, there are a million ways for him to learn those lessons, I want them to be more creative than to just dredge up the dead parent cliche. Clark already has two dead parents, they don't need to add a third.

I agree that Jonathan doesn’t have to die for the Superman origin to work. But Jonathan’s death — often presented as an instigating factor in “the hero’s journey” — long predates the Donner movie. Indeed, in some stories, both parents have passed away. From (according to the internet) 1963:

Fair enough, though I still would prefer they not go there, we have enough dead parents among our DC heroes as it is, and Smallville, MoS, and Superman and Lois all went this direction, and it's gotten tiring.

I could go either way on the Pa Kent thing. I love the lesson that comes out of him dying of a heart attack in Clark’s youth, but my favorite portrayal of the Kents was on Lois & Clark, where he was still around. So I’m fine with whichever way they go.

Absolutely nothing about this says "newsroom" to me. I want big windows with the big ol' city visible outside and lots of desks at the very least.

The daily planet needs lots and lots of sunlight, and energy should bustle a bit. The best thing about those giant windows is you can also stage dusky romantic scenes between Lois and Clark.

I think art deco is the right approach for Metropolis' architecture in general, but this looks like a Bioshock environment haha.

Better than the generic gray office though.

There is absolutely no need to bring John Williams or his theme back. A lot of fans need to let this notion go.

I am not a fan of shoehorning a theme from another universe into this just because it's recognizable. The Superman movie franchise is not the Bond franchise, there has been movies and shows with different Superman themes. Let Gunn come up with his own.

I prefer Clark’s parents being around. Out of the big 3, Spidey and Bats are orphans so I prefer at least one of them benefiting from the little chats with their folks to give them a boost.
