Oh really?

Bob Kane and Bill Finger in 1939 say "Hi":

Yeah, the core concept for his suit (essentially going closer to the comic styling than any live action suit since West) was a good one, but so many parts about its execution were just… clumsy.

The narrow, oddly-shaped mouth opening on the cowl, the minuscule ears, the way that the suit could occasionally be photographed to look dynamic, but mostly made him look chunky…

I know ZS was riffing on The Dark Knight Returns, but there was a lot lost in translation IMO.
All's well that ends well because Reeves and Glyn Dillon knocked it out of the park right afterwards giving us something that really captured the essence and the spirit of the comic book costume in live action in a way that had never been done. It still astounds me just how right they got the suit in The Batman.

Too many people on social media getting their hopes up. It'd be cool if Gunn gave us something but I'm not holding my breath. Maybe a logo.

The KC shield has certainly evolved in the comics. From a somber representation of mourning, like a black arm band, to a fluid evolution of the S. My gut response was that it was out of place. But we also have to remember that this symbol no longer represents just Kingdom Come. While I think the Red and Black would be too muted. I have no problem with the Red and Yellow version. After following these films now for 40 years,(yeah WTF?) What I most want is a solid representation of the character. I want a Superman that lifts people up both figuratively and literally. I want that steadfast symbol of hope. Certainly one that doesn't say "I guess no one stays good in this world". What "S" is on his chest will always be debatable, just like the suit. Gunn wants to use the KC symbol? Let's see what hes got. Isn't the first time and wont be the last.

...figured he was oddly cut for a skinny guy, from watching For All Mankind. But, didn't expect that.
