I reckon this would be the coolest way of differentiating Aquaman from other movies like Wonder Woman or batman. Plus it looks so cool. What do you think?

I'd like to see it at some point, even if not permanent.

I wouldn't mind it... But not yet if it's in the works.

And... I think you would have to work it the way they did in JL on Cartoon Network. That was a case where they improved on the reasoning for that happening.

I think it'd be a pretty great moment, to save his son.

I want the sequel to be all about dads and sons, with Black Manta's revenge, Tom's death, Arthur's kid, and maybe Kaldur?

When did he become a father?

The story of Arthur and Mera's marriage and the baby, Arthur jr. that they concevied together, is pretty big in the Aquaman mythos. The child was introduced in 1965 and was killed by Black Manta in 1977. Which... Both things were big distruptions of the status quo that was NOT what the standard super hero story was doing back then.

Correction... When did he become a father in DCU?

Well we haven't seen the sequel yet, but they could always include it in there, with the child born in the film or beforehand.

That would mean several years have passed since the first film.
And Black Manta still hasn't taken revenge on Arthur.

Sorry, but I don't think it will happen.

It only takes 9 months to make a baby.

The thought of Jason Momoa using his hook hand to down a drink is reason enough lol

Black Manta wouldn't kill a newborn.
For the story to work, I would expect the kid to be atleast 4-5 (or older) and having developped a personality, and then killed off-screen. THAT would be emotional!

As I said, I very much doubt this will happen in the second Aquaman film. He's not a family man yet

Black Manta absolutely IS the type to kill a child, even a newborn.

A lot of fans expect no less because that's a huge part of the power of the character in the Aquaman mythos, hell, generally among DC villains full stop.

Until say, Joker killing Jason Todd, this was the most successful a super villain had been in hurting his nemesis, and one due to the Superfriends show, however one feels about it, that had a fairly high media profile. And it was an event that had really long lasting affects on the character and his world. And all because yes, at the end of the day Black Manta is one of the most heartless, cruel and unrelenting super villains in the DC universe. I get wanting to soften him but... He's a murderous child killer in my book. That's what I want to see in live action.

As for the killed off screen bit...

That is like the opposite of emotional.

"Hey audience... We had this gigantic event happen in the life of our main character you all loved from the last film. No... You don't get to see it. No, you don't even get to experience the interactions and meaning brought to Aquaman's life by having a marriage and family."

I can't see in a typical super hero film this working.

Maybe at the end of Aquaman 2 to symbolise the cost of his bravery and courage. That sounds like a good place to introduce the hook hand.
