Colin Farrell IS The Penguin

All I know is this can't possibly be any worse than Devito. IMO that might be the most grating, irritating and annoying comic book villain portrayal in all of cinema.

I've grown to really like and appreciate BR too, but he's insufferable. All the screaming and snorting and grunting, my god...

lol, that's my truth. I suspect I'm not completely alone in that...

Sort of unrelated, but it's in the article @DKDetective linked:

“The public is afraid of him,” Reeves said of his DCEU-adjacent Dark Knight. “He’s not yet the vision of the character where he becomes a vision of hope for the city. He’s early in the trajectory, and so they’re afraid of him, frankly. He’s kind of a growing legend. That is one of the things we will confront in the course of the story, and that Rob has to sort of deal with in playing the character, which is how he’s perceived.”

This quote is so exciting to me. I LOVE when Batman stories tackle the self-awareness of what Batman needs to be and his struggles in attaining that. It's easily my favourite part of the Nolan trilogy - the idea behind the symbol. It's relatable in the sense that all of us have some ideal we try to maintain and set for ourselves, and keeping those expectations can be hard sometimes. I cannot wait to see him actually make mistakes. I need this movie ASAP

I mean that always makes sense. In the real world even if there was some random guy going around beating on criminals you don't know how crazy he is or you feel go after you for something slight.

The Batman Cast Member Reveals Details About Colin Farrell's Unrecognizable Penguin - IGN
"I arrived on set and there was this guy walking around who was being so over confident," Penry-Jones said. "I had no idea who he was. He was being really friendly, he was telling all these stories, I was like, 'Who is this guy?' I thought he might've been a supporting actor [an extra to you and me]. He kept on talking to me, just really friendly, really nice, and I started noticing things about his costume. He had a brace on his leg and these weird scars on his face, and I thought, 'This is quite a lot of effort they've gone to for a supporting artist...' and suddenly I realized, 'Wait a minute this guy must be playing the Penguin, oh my God that's Colin Farrell!'"

Of course not, Penguin is my personal favorite Bat villain so the Batman Returns take was awful to me (fits right at home with the Arkham loonies). I can’t wait to see what this movie does with him as a major baddie. This might be the best Penguin on screen since Burgess. While I’m almost afraid they may make him too much of a brute like the Arkham games, I hope that we see the “sophistication” and “class” that the Penguin was known for before Returns. He can have a guy ordered to be murdered and then go to the opera. You know the guy who could BELIEVABLY run for a public official position. The man who is a brilliant criminal that even Batman says that the Gentleman of Crime is smarter than the Caped Crusader.

I personally think it's a great performance and I enjoy how Devito just goes for it but....that whole portrayal can definitely be a LOT to take lol.

DeVito and Ledger give very similar performances imo.

It’s there! “Just the ***** I was looking for!” Is a very Ledger line reading.

I can see it, the similarity.

Also the panda eyes.
