The Witcher: Blood Origin

Since this comes out December 25, I doubt we will see a trailer until like next month.

Haven’t been interested in the Witcher show but I might check this out for Yeoh. The trailer itself was kinda weird but this seems to be a different vibe from the main show. At least from what I can tell. I’ve only seen trailers for that show as well.

Marginally better than the last trailer I will give it that but after the Cavill news interest in this will probably be even lower and not sure of the point of it in the long run. Will no doubt watch it as its short but not expecting much.

Will prolly watch it Christmas Day 1 & 2 afternoon

I'm lost on the lore of this completely. I thought humans existed first and it was the conjunction that brought through elves/monsters and magic etc etc. This seems to be about the elves only.

Have Netflix just chucked that in the bin or are they just doing it from a different angle. I guess we will have to just wait and see but nothing about this stands out at all.

This really sums it up. Nightmare of the Wolf has been the best content to come out of the Netflix version and there are some bright spots, but their franchise doesn't feel like it was built to last. Maybe this show will surprise though.

It was the elves in the world and continent first. Conjunction brought monsters and humans to the continent. But I don't recall a conjunction that was like this. I have no idea what they've done here.

Granted, Sapkowski never provided a ton of details on this event, but I never got the sense it was like this.

Well, this was pretty awful IMO and eventhough its just 4 episodes I still felt like it was a slog to get through which is something I definitely don't say often when it comes to most shows.

It's weird too because there's actually plenty of action, but I never could connect with the story or any of these new characters including Michelle Yeoh who's not in it nearly enough or as much as you think.

Also, this just looked and felt super cheap even for a Netflix show and while I wasn't expecting HOTD or ROP in terms of overall production value visually this looked way worse than the previous seasons of The Witcher.

So I shouldn't waste my time watching this?

I wouldnt bother if I were you. Only four episodes and its still a slog to get through, bland and with terrible characters, terrible writing, terrible CGI and terrible script. It has no redeeming features about it and has one of the worst voice overs exposition dumps you can think of. It makes series one and two of the Witcher look like a masterpiece in comparison. Cavill may not be for eveyone but my word at least he has some presence and holds the screen better than this trash, no wonder he bailed if this is the future, he made the right call.

This wasn't very good.

There were a couple of decent enough action sequences and I did like Mirren Mack (the make-up artist who created her look deserves recognition, I loved that splash of gold between her eyes and her overall look), but apart from that it was pretty forgettable.

Was this condensed from 6 episodes into 4? I swear right before it aired IMDB listed it as 6 episodes, but now it shows as 4.

When the writers care so little for the source material (outright admitting in some cases) that they drove away the only person who gave a damn about it, how else was this going to pan out? These idiots deserve what they get.

Yes, they re-edited it into four episodes after bad initial test screenings.

Finished it. It wasn't great but it wasn't terrible either. It was just okay. It needed to explain more though really it didn't explain a whole bunch of stuff.

Heard it wasn't great by a few people and I'm only halfway through the first episode but not put off yet.
