I just find it weird though that if Magneto knows that he has a mutant son, why has he never been mentioned, especially in FC when they were recruiting mutants since Quicksilver looks older than 10 years old...

That kind of attention to detail has been lacking in most X-Men movies. That's why there was no mention of the Rogue/Mystique relationship, no mention of Mystique/Nightcrawler, Xavier/Juggernaut, Cyclops/Havok, etc.

I don't think its a lack of attention to detail. It just mucks things up and turns the movie into a soap opera. I'm fine with it not following the comics verbatim. Nothing translates to film perfectly.
