FFXV female hero? Aranea? Cindy? Gentiana? Iris? Wait, it's Luna? What? Luna? What.

I liked the voice actress but other than that she's barely in the game and is a watered down Aerith/Yuna that wasn't developed properly, she was more of a plot device.

A Luna centered DLC that fleshes out the character would interest me. as would a Cindy one, an Iris one, and an Aranea one.

Yeah. I was the same. Give me an Iris dlc over Luna any day. Never warmed to her character. She never came across as anything other than an obligation/burden for Noct in my eyes.

Final Fantasy XV Director Open To Opportunities For Switch But Nothing Is Set In Stone. September 10, 2017 . 3:30pm

In a new interview, FFXV director Hajime Tabata spoke a little more about the Switch, including how Square Enix believes that the Switch is “a great platform.”

70 comments Read >

Last month at Gamescom in Germany, Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata had a few things to say about the Nintendo Switch, including seeming to hint at a possible Switch version of FFXV. Tabata later commented that the Switch’s hardware was not capable of performing well with FFXV’s Luminous Engine when they ran tests with it at Square Enix.

Now Tabata has spoken to Kotaku about the Switch a little more, and noted that, after his initial comments at Gamescom, a representative at Nintendo contacted him. However, Tabata would not reveal what they discussed. In addition to that, Tabata also had the following to say in regards to the Switch, mentioning that Square Enix believes that the console is “a great platform” and that they will be “open to looking for opportunities” with it.

Here is Tabata’s full comment:
“It was just kind of a joke response. That said, we aren’t dismissing the hardware in any way. We believe it’s a great platform, and we’re open to looking for opportunities. And if the opportunity presents itself, and there’s something we can do on that given platform, we’d like to do it.”

In addition to that, Tabata also discussed his own personal challenge of actually obtaining a Switch, something that many people wanting to get their hands on the console can relate to given its scarcity. He went on to say that he has many games already for the Switch, including The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Splatoon 2, he’s just missing the console to play them on.

To read the rest of the interview with Tabata, you can go here.

Final Fantasy XV is available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A PC version was recently announced, as well, which will be releasing early 2018.

Last month, Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata hinted that a version of his latest game could be appearing on the Nintendo Switch. Now, unfortunately, the director has pulled back, claiming that he was only making a “joke.”

“It was just kind of a joke response,” Tabata said in a recent interview with Kotaku, referring to one of the answers he gave at a Gamescom 2017 panel. At the time, he’d strongly hinted that Final Fantasy XV would be headed to a console that sounds like “Twitch

“That said, we aren’t dismissing the hardware in any way,” Tabata continued. “We believe it’s a great platform, and we’re open to looking for opportunities. And if the opportunity presents itself, and there’s something we can do on that given platform, we’d like to do it.”

Tabata also mentioned that Nintendo had called him up after his first hints during Gamescom, though he didn’t reveal what was discussed.

It’s unclear whether the call was to scold Tabata for referencing a partnership that didn’t exist, or whether it was a talk to try and make a Final Fantasy XV port a reality—according to Tabata, he’s not allowed to say.

Final Fantasy XV already has several ports and expansions on the way, including a VR fishing game, a PC port, and a mobile Pocket Edition on the way. It’s still possible that we’ll see a Nintendo Switch version in the future, though sad to say, it doesn’t seem to be a project that’s actively in the works.

More Final Fantasy XV content coming your way.

FFXV-Dev-2018_09-23-17.jpg
Square Enix will continue to develop Final Fantasy XV for the next year, director Hajime Tabata announced during an Active Time Report live stream at Tokyo Game Show 2017.

According to Tabata, the team decided to continue development on the game in response to the strong requests of the fans who want Final Fantasy XV to continue and for the story to be further enriched.

Upcoming add-on “Episode Ignis” was planned to be the last piece of content for the game, but it has now been decided to continue providing content over the next year.

The theme of this continued development is to strengthen the parts of the story that don’t have enough explanation, and to conclude the story. Tabata, discussing what he wants to tackle, said, “Not only are we further investigating characters through additional episodes, if we don’t convey the setting that is the foundation of the world, we won’t be able to convey the characters’ way of life.” Tabata said passionately that he is organizing to do just that.

Final Fantasy XV Director Says They Are Investigating What’s Possible With Bringing FFXV To The Switch . September 25, 2017 . 9:30am

Following director Hajime Tabata’s hints at a Switch version during Gamescom, Tabata discussed in a recent interview what Square Enix is planning to do with FFXV and the Nintendo console.

65 comments Read >

[FONT=&quot]

During Gamescom in Germany last month, Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata seemed to hint at the possibility of the game appearing on the Nintendo Switch.

He later retracted his original comments and simply stated that, while it was “a joke response,” Square Enix wasn’t “dismissing” the console.

When it comes to bringing FFXV to the Switch, some first thought maybe they would try using the Pocket Edition for smartphones featuring a chibified world that was announced last month.

However, it seems that Square Enix is trying to get the original console version onto the Nintendo system. During a recent interview preceding Tokyo Game Show, Tabata told Eurogamer the following:
“We’re actually doing very specific technical investigations into what’s possible at the moment. Where we are at the moment – we’ve completed those tests and have worked out where the ground lies. We’re currently in the middle of the discussion and debate about what we should be doing, and how to realise that on the Switch.”

“The other thing – you see the mobile version, the PC version, one thing we value is to optimise the way the game plays and the experience for the individual hardware it’s on rather than a one-size fits all approach. We can’t currently announce anything – we haven’t come to a full decision on the best way to do it yet. We’re having very open, frank discussions with Nintendo at the moment about what they think is the best thing to do. It’s all under investigation.”

“Honestly, when we did the technical test to see if we could use the same native engine we used on other console versions on the Switch, we tried to run it there, the results weren’t satisfactory. It wasn’t what you’d want from a final game. It doesn’t mean that’s the end of that – we’re looking at the options, like the customisation of the engine. To give you an example how open those discussions are – we’re talking to Epic at the moment, about maybe what we could possibly do there, and if we did a Switch version maybe we’d be able to partner and do something there. Their Unreal environment is just amazing, and will be very useful. You have to have all those options on the table – without that it’d be impossible to make a decision about what we can do on that platform.”

Final Fantasy XV is available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It will release for PC in early 2018.

  • Play time is between one and two hours if you only follow the story.
  • After you clear the story, a different route unlocks. It follows the flow of the original story, and changes to the different route when Ignis makes a certain decision. This route is mainly a boss battle, and is considerably difficult. The ending of this route was created with the thought that they wanted it to be seen by users who were moved by the ending of the main story.
  • The story is the densest among the Final Fantasy XV add-ons.

Square Enix detailed the future content roadmap for Final Fantasy XV during its Active Time Report commemorating a year since the game’s release today.
Here is what players can expect:

  • Details about the future content Square Enix plans to offer will be decided by the end of 2017. From there, they will officially announce what content will be released at what timing, and in what form it will be offered.
  • Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata said that he wants to release at least three “Episode” add-ons in 2018, starting with an episode for Ardyn. Many users pointed out that the way they depicted the backbone of the world was insufficient, but Arydn’s episode will lead to a proper depiction of the world’s story.
  • Tabata is aware that fans want to see an episode for Luna.
  • For future additional content, Tabata wants to release them when they are in a state of absolute sufficiency. In 2018, the importance is not on releasing the content, but rather the plan has changed to releasing the content in a state where each one is properly sufficient.
  • Not only does Tabata want to meet the users’ expectations, he wants to betray expectations and create developments that will even get those who have cleared the game and lost interest re-interested.
Final Fantasy XV is available now for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and will launch for PC in early 2018.
Thanks, Games Talk and Hachima Kikou.
