Yeah, saw it too. Seemed weird that the circle didn't open up to reveal the opening scene/shot and simply went black..but hey, i'm glad it's back where it belongs.

Saw this today and whilst it wasn't anything new or groundbreaking it's no Quantam of Solace but I definitely would rate Casino Royale higher. I also thought it was far more entertaining than Skyfall with more extravagant set pieces. However, there is also one of the most dull car chases put to film.

The villain was also pretty weak with a verrrrrrry shoddy attempt at tying the Craig movies together but Waltz is still awesome in role as is everyone else, there didn't seem to really be a dud in there. My best advice is not to expect some epic, dark conclusion to Skyfall but another kooky Bond adventure with cool action (aside from the car chase).

I would definitely compare it to The Dark Knight Rises in the way that TDK redefined what a CBM could be to many people in the way that it was like a crime film, yet in TDKR they pretty much just did a Batman adventure. Skyfall redefined Bond to some but with this it was like they wanted to do a just another Bond adventure.

But they do it all very very well. Except the car chase.

The cinematography was gorgeous as well.

Was it all in yellow?

Well just based on the marketing only Mexico has been given a biege dusty pastel yellow grade. In the trailers snd tv spots none of the rest of the film has looked like the mexico scenes so you dont need to worry about it.

Glad to hear the gun barrel sequence has been restored to its proper place in any Bond film, at the beginning.

TDKR was less of a batman adventure than TDK. TDKR was more about Bruce and his inner struggles more than Batman.

Why didnt you like the car chase in SPECTRE?

Batman adventure was wrong more just comic booky adventure.I guess I mean in terms of iconography and how the plot develops. For example the lobster batwing and the energy nuke in TDKR (among other bits and pieces) felt almost like it would have been too unrealistic if whacked into TDK. Much like how in Spectre the whole grand villain lair and plane sledging felt like it wouldn't fit in the world Skyfall created.
Many felt like Skyfall was just a great film that happened to be a James Bond film. This is just a straight up Bond film. I'm not saying that as a negative just in terms of what people should expect.

And the car chase was just dull. It's just loads of shots of cars drifting it looked much more like a commercial than an urgent chase. It was almost like a Family guy skit where you'd have overly epic music in a fairly mundane scene. Put it this way there is a moment in the chase where the path is blocked and they drive up the wall. Much like they do in Grease and multiple other movies except when they do it here the music turns all epic as if it's thee BIG moment of the chase. I loved all the other action sequences but that one really felt off.

Not really any spoilers here but just incase

Another thing I want to add is also how it would be quite odd if this was Craig's last film. This almost felt like the first part to a two part film

Maybe Craig just needs a holiday or two with Rachel Weisz.

I've seen alot of comments about the film but no one is talking about a major character's death. The MI6 building! I felt my gut grab my heart, and my heart kickin my gut in return. WTF are they gonna do about that for the next film??

Well, they went underground after Silva bombed it in Skyfall, so they can do that again.

But its an iconic part of the series, when you go London, its one of the sites you want to see and say James Bond. I'm still hurt, its gonna take me a few days too get over it. Tragic!

The ONLY problem i have with Craig returning is that due to the ending of Spectre the following up film can only go one way. Then we end up with yet another Craig film with Bond out for revenge;

and even if another actor does take on the role, wouldn't his film then still need to address how SPECTRE ends? I hope that with every new actor they are not going to go the re-boot route from now on, because as with the old films, even though they changed actors, there was still a loose continuity from film to film. The Craig era of Bond films may have created a dilemma for the franchise...

when will a crossover happen with another movie franchise?

Bond doesn't do constant reboot's. That's one of the great things about it. Craig's era was the reboot and whoever follows will be loosely connected to his movies.

I reckon it'll be the other way. Bond will either break up with her or even kill her....don't forget those drills to the head. Plus the way Blofeld kept looking at Bond had me thinking that bastard has planned something.

I think with the car chase Mendes was trying to go the oldschool Bullit route where it was more about the driving than things exploding and cars flipping over every which way.

Well the building was bombed in the last movie...so...

SPECTRE Already Breaking U.K. Records http://thr.cm/4zk6Ec

After a stunning $6.4 million opening night in the U.K. on Monday night, Spectre continues to outpace its record-breaking predecessor Skyfall at the U.K. box office.

On Tuesday, the 24th Bond film amassed $9.2 million on its first full day in cinemas, the biggest Tuesday gross of all time in the U.K. and bigger than Skyfall's first-day gross three years ago.

And on Wednesday, it took in a record-breaking $8.8 million for an early cume of $24.5 million. That's the biggest Wednesday gross ever in the history of cinema in the UK.

From Sony and MGM, Spectre launched in the U.K. more than a week before its Nov. 6 debut in North America. The U.K. results after just a day and a night suggest that Spectre is indeed on track to complete a Bond mission many thought would be too difficult.

Wow, those are some huge numbers.
Was always going to be huge coming off Skyfall. The British box office is smaller, so it is easier for these things to happen. It is still crazy impressive, but also expected.

Bond movies have always made money; even duds like DAD made more than it's predessesor TWINE.

Bond films have had a huge worldwide audience going back to the 1960s. These were like the original blockbuster popcorn movies you know ;) .

Just got back from Spectre and I hate to say it, but it might be the worst Craig-era Bond movie.

Awkward pacing, dull action scenes and an under- and misused Christoph Waltz.

My ranking:

Casino Royale
Skyfall
Quantum of Solace or Spectre. I would have to think about that.

It wasn't really like that though it really just was a little dull. I know what you mean, what you describe is something along the lines of the awesome Jack Reacher car chase that felt real and gritty, like two people actually having a car chase. This isn't that. You could tell they had 2 very expensive cars that couldn't get a single scratch on. It didn't look like they were chasing each other just out for a drive.
