Guardians of the Galaxy James Gunn is directing Guardians of the Galaxy!

Gunn's direction and overall vision elevated the pretty cliche plot i think.

It's pretty similar to The Avengers in terms of structure. But the details, the characterization and the unique sensibilities just separate it and make it seem fresh.

I mean, the opening titles sequence with the lead character dancing and using an alien lizard as a microphone singing to "come and get your love"... who the hell does that? How can you dislike a movie that does things like that?

I loved every minute of GotG, but that scene was my absolute favorite. Pure joy.

Can't wait to see what he has in store for the sequel.

What I wans see is J'son and maybe Moondragon. Give Drax some more **** to deal with.

Guardians showed that Marvel is definitely not afraid of taking chances. That movie is filled with risk taking and offbeat choices while still staying within the framework of a super hero movie. Pretty damn impressive imo.

Easily my favorite film of the summer and most likely my favorite comic film since the Avengers. I probably like it even more, though I usually like at least three viewings to see how things hold up. Gunn is without a doubt one of the most visionary directors who has worked in the genre and from where I am in the wee hours of Monday morning, the fu**ing man! AoU has a hell of a lot to measure up to if it's to surpass this baby.

Kudos to James Gunn. Out of all the of the MCU Directors that we've had so far, he's got the best visual eye when it comes to creating several breathtaking visuals.

I'm really impressed by James Gunn work on this, I always found myself disappointed by his previous films which often had a lot of good reviews but fell flat for me yet you can tell how much he loves the characters and how his weirdness and superb visual style all combined to make an amazing space movie.

Yeah, I wasn't a big fan of Gunn's prior work... Slither was average and Super was... interesting but it kinda fell apart at the end. But everything in this film just worked for me. More than any other Marvel film, this movie truly felt like it's own thing and the director's style is all over it (in a good way). While most of Marvel's other movies feel almost like episodes of a really big TV show, this one sort of stands alone. Great job, Gunn. Can't wait for the sequel.

I decided to watch TROMEO & JULIET based largely on the James Gunn kick I'm on after the euphoria of watching GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. I knew not to expect a masterpiece from Troma, but I'm actually rather fond of the studio's output. I retain warm, fuzzy feelings not just for THE TOXIC AVENGER, but even for THE TOXIC AVENGER 2. There's a certain earnest joy for filmmaking to be found amidst the stomach-churning gore, sick humour and ridiculously vile characters.

TROMEO & JULIET is no exception. Make no mistake: this is trash cinema. Acting performances range from wooden to gloriously hammy, with little middle ground. The film looks incredibly cheap. And there's enough sexual interludes in it to make you feel like you're watching softcore porn. But James Gunn provides a clever, gag-packed script that makes you laugh at some truly dark, horrible things, and the whole thing plays out with a kind of perverse charm.

This movie has a lot of Gunn in it.

Makes me wonder what really happened between Wright and Marvel that they had to part ways.

Yeah. We'll probably never get the real story but I really want to know what went on there. It's just bizarre.

I'll be honest... I'm more interested in hearing that than watching the actual Ant-Man movie.

So long as he includes Adam Warlock in the next one, I am happy

The word is more or less he wanted to do his own thing with no nods to the current MCU which may have ****ed up the whole dynamic the studio is shooting for.

And apparently it only took 6 years for Wright to communicate this little detail to Marvel.

I don't think it was anything so malicious. Rather, it was miscommunication: neither side realized the other held a truly irreconcilable position, because they both agreed to keep kicking the "minor details to work out" down the road. Only, the end of the road came, those minor details turned out to not be minor.

Happy birthday to James Gunn.

Still inexcusable though.

Corrected it for you. You only have to post the part of the URL after the equal sign, which in this case was "Gxb7b0jGZvc."
