First episode in three-party series due out on August 31.

Square Enix and Deck Nine Games announced Life is Strange: Before the Storm for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC during the Microsoft E3 2017 press conference. The first episode in the three-part series will launch on August 31.



The company also confirmed that this is one of two Life is Strange projects, the other being a sequel in development at original developer Dontnod Entertainment.




Life is Strange: Before the Storm puts players in the role of Chloe Price, a rebel who forms an unlikely friendship with Rachel Amber in “dramatic new story.” Here’s an overview of Before the Storm, via Square Enix:

Life is Strange: Before the Storm is a new three part; standalone adventure set three years before the first game in the BAFTA award-winning franchise.
You play as sixteen-year old Chloe Price who forms an unlikely friendship with Rachel Amber, a beautiful and popular girl destined for success.
When Rachel learns a secret about her family that threatens to destroy her world, it is her newfound friendship with Chloe that gives her the strength to carry on.
No longer alone the girls must confront each other’s demons and together, find a way to overcome them.

[FONT=&quot]During E3 2017 DONTNOD, the developer behind Life is Strange, announced that they were hard at work on another game in the series. Around the same time, it was revealed that another studio, Deck Nine, is also working on a Life is Strange game.

[/FONT] [FONT=&quot]The difference between the two games is that DontNod's game is a sequel and Deck Nine's is a prequel. Even though Deck Nine is new to the franchise, their game will be part of the overall Life is Strange narrative and will be considered canon.

Square Enix has released the teaser trailer for Episode 2 of Life is Strange: Before the Storm.


The full trailer will be released tomorrow, October 12, at 5:30 p.m. BST / 9:30 a.m. PT / 12:30 p.m. ET.


Episode 1 of Life is Strange: Before the Storm is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Episode 2 has yet to be dated. The game will conclude with Episode 3.

The second episode of the three-part Life is Strange: Before the Storm, titled “Brave New World,” will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 19, Square Enix announced.


A new trailer released today showcases some of the new characters and environments that appear in the second episode, alongside others that are making a return from the first episode.

Third and final episode titled "Hell is Empty."

The third and final episode of Life is Strange: Before the Storm, titled “Hell is Empty,” will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on December 20, Sqarue Enix announced.


Square Enix also released a 14-second teaser trailer for the episode, the full version of which will be released on December 6 at 9:30 a.m. PT / 12:30 p.m. ET / 5:30 p.m. GMT. Here’s an overview of the video:

In the trailer, we see Chloe struggling to keep grasp of the events unraveling in front of her as we hurtle towards a dramatic conclusion and the consequences of your all your actions so far. Today is the three-year anniversary of the first episode release! Crazy how fast time flies, I remember pre-ordering this game like it was yesterday! Still surprised how much I loved it, this prequel was way better than it had any right to be and made me love Chloe as a character so much more.
