With filming happening at full speed, I tough I'd post this little Plot Summary of the first draft of the Script. :yay:

Here's part 1:

15 years ago. Coast City. The Ferris Aircraft Annual Air Show. 12-year-old Hal Jordan watches as his father, test pilot Martin Jordan, pilots an experimental jet for Ferris Aircraft, an air company owned by Martin's best friend, Carl Ferris, father of Hal's best friend, 12-year-old Carol Ferris.

Suddenly, one of the jet's engines explodes and Martin looses control of the jet. Carl orders him to eject, but Martin says that, if he does so, the jet will crash with the control tower and people will die. He decides to pilot if away from the crowd first and, although he succeeds, the jet explodes before he can eject and he dies before Hal's eyes.

Today. Outer space. Abin Sur, Green Lantern of Space Sector 2814, pilots a spaceship heading for Oa, headquarters of the Green Lantern Corps and home of its immortal creators, the Guardians of the Universe. Abin is taking the body of Markot, the fourth Green Lantern murdered in a month, to be buried when the ship is attacked by Legion, a giant yellow space monster. Abin's power ring holds no effect against Legion and, although he manages to repel it with the ship's defensive system, he's mortally wounded by it and, after recording a message for the Guardians, proceeds to the nearest habited planet to find a suitable successor. That planet is Earth.

Back in Coast City, 27-year-old Carol, now vice-president of Ferris Aircraft, introduces Senator Robert Hammond and other businessmen to the Sabre, an unmanned fighter jet prototype created by Carl to prevent other pilots of suffering the same faith as Martin. Hammond is skeptical and, in order to convince him, Carol sets up a demonstrational dogfight between three Sabre prototypes and three F-16s, but one pilot is running late: Hal Jordan.

Hal is in downtown Coast City, in bed with a girl named Jenna when her bruiser boyfriend shows up. Hal escapes trough the fire exit and calls his best friend, Ferris Air programmer and engineer Tom Kalmaku, who picks him up and takes him to Ferris Air, where Carol is waiting for him.

She berates Hal for being late. They banter. Hal bets he can take down the Sabres. Carol accepts. If he wins, she'll have to go out with him.

The dogfight begins. The Sabres quickly take down all but Hal's plane. Hal realizes he has no chance of beating the Sabres alone and executes a suicidal maneuver called ''the Coffin Corner''. He manages to take down the Sabres, but nearly kills himself in the process and also costs the company millions of dollars in research and Senator Hammond's interest. An angry Carol suspends Hal.

Meanwhile, Abin's ship crash lands in the desert and he orders his ring to find a suitable successor. The ring finds Hal.

At the same night, Hal goes to his Brother Jim's house for his nephew Nathan's birthday. There, he meets with his older brother Jack and his mother Helen, who berates him for doing such a dangerous stunt after what they've been trough with Martin's death. They argue.

Later on, as Hal is preparing to leave, the ring reaches him and takes him and his car back to Abin's crash site, where Hal meets with him. Abin says the ring has chosen Hal as the new Green Lantern of Sector 2814 and gives him the battery. Abin dies.

At the same time, in Oa, Thaal Sinestro, Green Lantern of Sector 1417 and Abin's best friend is informed by Tomar-Re, Green Lantern of Sector 2813, of Abin's demise. Sinestro confronts the Guardians and calls them out on their refusal to acknowledge that something is hunting down Green Lanterns. They say that, if Sinestro wishes to help, he must instruct Abin's replacement.

Back on Earth, Hal calls Tom and asks him to pick him up. While he waits, Hal buries Abin. Tom arrives. Hal brings him up to speed on what happened and they load Abin's spaceship in Tom's pick-up truck and leave.

A few moments later, black SUVs drive by and governmental agents led by Alan Scott show up and uncover Abin's body. A concerned Alan asks his men to bring in the best pathologist they can find to perform an autopsy on Abin's body and determinate the cause of death.

They wind up choosing Dr. Hector Hammond, Senator Hammond's troubled son who works at the FBI in New York City. They take Hector to a secret base in the desert, where he performs an autopsy on Abin's body. During the procedure, Hector finds a piece of Legion's armor on Abin's corpse. Hector is unable to help himself and touches it. A yellow energy runs trough his body and knocks him out. Alan sees everything and orders his men to take Hector back to his apartment.

Meanwhile, Hal comes back to his apartment, where he attempts to recharge the ring as Abin told him to. The battery projects an holographic oath. Hal reads it and his ring is recharged. Suddenly, Carol shows up for the date Hal forgot they had.

Hal takes Carol to a fancy restaurant and they argue over the Sabre and its utility to pilots everywhere. Hal blames Carl for Martin's death and sees the Sabre as the ultimate spite to his memory. Carol disagrees. The ring starts to materialize Hal's toughs, much to his surprise. He leaves for bathroom and goes outside to call Tom, who's studying Abin's ship is his house.

There, Hal comes across Jenna's boyfriend and his friends. They drag him to the beach and start beating him up, but he knocks them out using the ring. Then, he orders the ring to make him fly and takes off, soaring trough Coast City's shores. As he's about to go back, the ring opens a wormhole who takes Hal to Oa.

Carol is left alone at the restaurant and assumes Hal abandoned her.

Meanwhile, in New York, Hector wakes up and realizes he can hear other people's toughs. Scared, he heads to his laboratory, where he studies his blood and finds out Legion's energy is evolving his cells millions of years into the future at every minute. He also finds out he can move things with his head.

Hector's assistant, Vanessa, shows up. He has a crush on her and, once he hears her thinking horrible things about him, he pins her down and prepares to rape her. But then, his boss, John Broome, who clearly hates him, shows up. Hector lets Vanessa go, but imprisons Broome for ''experimentation''.

Here's part 2:

Hal arrives at Oa, where he meets with Sinestro and passes out. He wakes up in a holographic room programmed by Sinestro to display an Earth-like hotel room. Hal has the full Green Lantern uniform on and is told by Sinestro that basic knowledge of all the 3600 Space Sectors has been downloaded into his mind.

Sinestro takes Hal in a tour trough Oa, where Hal meets Tomar-Re, Kilowog and Abin's widow, Lianna Sur. Sinestro tells Hal that the green flame is a mixture of Hope, Love and Compassion, controlled by Willpower and represented by what mortal creatures simply see as ''Green''.

Hal is taken to the Central Battery. When he touches it, Abin's message is unlocked and Sinestro watches in awe as Abin confirms Legion's existence and displays footage of him. Sinestro takes Hal to the Guardians and shows them Abin's message. They grant Sinestro permission to create a task-force of Green Lanterns in order to capture Legion, but Hal is overcame by fear and refuses to continue his training to Kilowog, saying that Legion is not his problem, even after Sinestro's warnings that any pieces of it left behind could ravage Hal's homeworld like a cancer.

Hal goes back to Earth, having been told by Sinestro that the ring is his to keep until the day of his death.

Meanwhile, in West Virginia, Hector tortures Broome while also practicing with his newfound powers. He receives a call from his father, saying that they need to meet.

Hector heads for his father's office in Washington. Senator Hammond is a former astronaut. Hector reads his mind and confirms his suspicions from ever since he was a kid: His father sees him as a disappointment. Senator Hammond tells Hector he has been invited by Carl Ferris to pilot one of their new jets at the Ferris Aircraft Annual Air Show and invites Hector to go there and watch him. Hector aggress, planning on getting revenge against his father there, where everyone can watch.

Meanwhile, Hal comes back to Ferris Aircraft, where Tom tells him Carol is furious for being left alone at the restaurant. Hal manages to convince Carol to allow him and Nathan to watch the Air Show and tells Tom everything that has happened in Oa. Tom is amazed.

Back in Oa, Sinestro rallies his troops and takes off in search for Legion.
The following day, at the Air Show, Hal, Carol, Tom, Carl and Nathan watch as Senator Hammond leads a team of fighter jets in a serious of aerial stuns. Hector, from the audience, uses his powers to mess up his father's plane's controls, wreaking havoc in the Air Show. Hal has flashbacks of the day his father died and swears he won't allow the same thing to happen again.

Hal overcomes the great fear, suits up and saves Senator Hammond, the crowd, Carol and Nathan from certain death. Hectors tries to force his father's plane to crash, but Hal's constructs are stronger. Because of all the pushing he did, Hector triggers another mutation and his head starts to grow. He starts feeling horrible pain.

The world quickly embraces Hal as a superhero. Nathan becomes an instant fanboy of ''Green Lantern''. Carol is draw to the mysterious ring-slinger. Hal realizes that he has the power to change the world. To actually save lives, and takes off on a worldwide crusade to prevent crimes and stop natural disasters.

Meanwhile, Hectors learns that his father will be making a speech at the Smithsonian Air Museum on behalf of the launching of new exploratory satellite. He uses Broome as a puppet to rob a series of bank, planning to use the money to impress his father at the party.

Alan's men get a hold of some sketches of the robber made from the hostages' declarations, who match with pictures of the missing Broome, who happens to be Hector's boss. Alan goes to a laboratory where rats were being exposed to the Legion piece in order to determinate what the radiation does and is horrified to find out that the rats have become telepathic mutants. He realizes the same is happening to Hector and moves in to protect Senator Hammond.

Meanwhile, Hal stops by Ferris Aircraft after another worldwide crusade and finds Carol alone working after-hours. He makes himself present and takes her for a flight. She opens up to him. For the first time, Hal realizes how much pain he has brought to her and decides to set things right.

She tells him that she always wanted to go to Paris, but always counted on the wrong people to take her. Hal creates a perfect reproduction of Paris on the Ferris Aircraft's tarmac and takes Carol in a romantic tour by the ''City of Lights''.

Meanwhile, Hector arrives at the party in a fancy car and with a deluxe prostitute by his side. He makes huge donations and spends heavily, but fails to impress his father once more. Hector lashes out his anger, exploding the museum's windows and making his presence know to Alan's men, who move in to apprehend him.

Hector refuses to back down and Alan's men fire at him. Hector curves the bullets and makes them go trough his father's body. He gloats at him, but is caught unprepared when Senator Hammond apologizes. Hector is unable to cope with what he has done and blames Alan, attacking him and his men.

Tom, who moved Abin's spaceship to Hangar 18, an old fallout shelter at Ferris Aircraft where he can work more freely, catches the news on TV and tells Hal what's happening. Hal leaves Carol and heads for the museum, where he saves Alan and his men and fights Hector.

After a long fight, Hector manages to take control of Hal's body and finds out his secret identity. Hector blames Hal, who wields ''the alien's'' ring, for his situation and forces Hal to blast at some of Alan's men, killing them. However, that triggers yet another mutation.

Hector's brain breaches his scalp and he leaves in agonizing pain. Hal feels guilty over the deaths he caused and plans to stop being Green Lantern, but Tom tells him Hector is the real villain and Hal's mission is to stop him.

Hal remembers of Sinestro words and heads to Oa to ask him for help.

I suspect that little maneuver of his is going to come back later on in the story.

Aaaaand part 3:

In Oa, Hal meets with Sinestro, who tells him Legion has been captured. Sinestro takes Hal to the Sciencells, where Legion lies chained. Hal wonders why the Guardians refused to acknowledge Legion's existence. Sinestro reveals that it was because they created Legion.

Sinestro tells Hal that, many years ago, before they tamed the Green Light of Willpower, the Guardians tried to wield the Yellow Light of Fear, but it was too powerful for them to control and broke free, infecting creation with fear. Many years later, the Guardians managed to contain the initial flame and banish it to the Lost Sector where they keep their failed experiments, and where that flame grew shape and form, becoming Legion.

Sinestro says that; know that Legion is under their custody, it's time for them to collect their reward: A new ring. A yellow ring. More powerful than the Green.

While Sinestro prepares to extract a piece of Legion to forge his ring, Hal comes face to face with the Guardians, who refuse to allow other Green Lanterns to help him, as he never finished his training and, therefore, isn't a real Green Lantern.

Suddenly, Legion breaks free of his chains and wreaks havoc trough Oa. Hal, who had previously returned the ring to the Guardians, takes it back to help in brothers-in-light against Legion.

During the battle, Hal has an idea. With ten rings taken from the dead Lanterns, one in each finger, he destroys the Central Battery and channels its power trough the rings, hitting Legion with a power blast with the sheer power of ten atomic bombs. Legion dies. Hal nearly dies too, but survives by pure luck. Sinestro is honored by Hal's willingness to sacrifice himself for the Corps and rallies the Green Lanterns to go to Earth and face off Hector.

Back in Coast City, just as Carl promotes Carol to CEO of Ferris Aircraft and retires, having realized that Senator Hammond was their last chance of getting the Sabre off the ground and Carol finds Tom studying Abin's spaceship in Hangar 18, Hector attacks the tarmac with a mind-wiped Broome by his side.

Hector activates the Sabres and sends them to destroy Coast City, but the Green Lanterns show up and fight them across the city. Hal heads straight to Ferris Aircraft, where Hector has Carol hostage, trapped inside a Sabre set to crash with the nearby mountains.

Hal offers Hector the ring in exchange for Carol's life. Hector accepts, but still activates the Sabre. As he makes his own bizarre constructs, Hector is surprised when the ring backfires at him and shuts down his brain. Hal explains Hector doesn't have the Willpower to wield the ring and tries to take off, but he has ran out of power.

Without time to get to the battery, Hal enters an F-16 and manages to reach the Sabre. Hal gets in the Sabre and punches himself and Carol out seconds before it hits the montains.

As Hal and Carol freefall to their death, their love comes to surface. Just as their compassion. And their hope. And, like that, the Green flame ignites itself and one last kiss recharges Hal's ring inches from the ground.

With the Green Lantern Corps appearance in Coast City, the USA government can no longer hide the existence of alien life from the public. Alan, the secretary of defense, reveals to the world the existence of the Green Lantern Corps. Everything changes.

Hal meets with Alan, who knew Hal's secret identity from the beginning, and is told Hector has been moved to Belle Reeve, in Louisiana. Alan convinces Hal to finish his training with Sinestro and gives him a communicator previously given to him by Abin, an old friend of his. In case of any significant turmoil, Alan will call Hal.

At Ferris Aircraft, Hal says goodbye to Carol and Tom, who know his secret. Carol promises to wait for him and explain his absence to his family. Hal fixes Abin's spaceship and leaves it to Tom as a gift. And then, he takes of, alongside Sinestro and the Corps, to finish his training.

yea i cant wait to see how the film does turn and out how much has actually changed from what we saw with the first draft to the shooting draft of the film.

that is a good question. But if he is gone wonder how they are going to play what killed abin sur.

I'd bet Legion's still in. I mean, not only does he kill Abin Sur, but it's also a peice of him that infects Hammond.

I dont know why there'd be reason to think they cut him out. I mean, it's not like he needs to be cast or anything. He's gonna be a big CG monster, no actor needed.

well maybe they decided to drop him as a monster beast and isnt in the comics he was more of a man size robot or something. maybe if they did that it was to save the budget then doing a huge monster creature.

So Legion is the living embodiment of the emotion of Fear? What about Parallax?

Which script are they filming? I have the Guggenheim script. It's pretty good.

that was probably the first draft killgore, and its has went through at least 7 rewrites since early last yr.

So everything that Legion did in the script(killing Abin Sur, infecting Hammond) is now what Parallax does? Seeing as how they substituted one CG character for another, I'm guessing they wanted that "fear" correspondent to be the actual yellow entity, which is Parallax. Makes some sense. I would actually prefer Legion to be in the sequel anyways, or threequel, depending on which film Sinestro becomes the villain, where he will lead an army of thousands of Legion soldiers against the Green Lantern Corps.

I like Alan Scott's role in this, and I hope it sticks. And of course there will be some changes in this, as Dr. Waller is in the film and she is no where to be found in the script, unless she is only a doctor in Belle Reve.

I never liked the fact that Legion was in it, I really hope that's not the case.

As for Alan Scott, it looks like Waller has taken over his role, but he may have a different appearance.

I hope Scott remains the character he is in the script though. Reading through the script I kept thinking, "They're messing up Alan Scott!", and then BAM -- Scott knew Abin Sur and becomes an ally for Jordan, which was awesome.
