HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
ISixaxis won a emmy at CES.
It has the same problems that plagued the Gamecube, so the signs of a potential slowdown are there, but only potential.
Sometimes I think that its a bit unfair to compare how fast the Wiis come off the shelves and the PS3s. Think about it, you've got a costumer at a store and a Wii is announced, they impluse purchase it. At 250 dollars its no big deal, doesn't require a lot of thinking. When something for 600 appears that takes some mulling over. Perhaps discussing it at home and thinking it out. There are very few people that can afford to purchase the PS3 at the word they are available. So my point is a PS3 sitting on a shelf for a few days may not be as big an indicator as some may think

How long does it take to plan something that has had it's price known for over 8 months?
Apparently a very long time, if you're BatMatt. "Well, damn, I knew it was going to be $600 half a year ago.. but.. hmm.. I still can't decide.."
False, knowing the price six months ago doesn't mean much. Its much easier to say "why not?" to $250 than $600. I wouldn't have bought a PS3 a few weeks ago normally but I was told to pay half and the other half would be picked up as an early birthday gift. So my personal circumstances changed when I bought mine. I could see a spike in PS3 sales once rebate checks are distributed as well. Money is liquid so knowing the price ahead of time is minimal. Someones financial situation six months ago is often much different than it would be currently.
Except someone's financial situation is not going to change so dramatically in six months that they're no longer able to afford a console. Unless they're constantly shifting from rich to poor and/or have a bad job.
Knowing the price ahead of time is going to mean everything for most normal families. Because most people who actually take in the money and do taxes know about in what ballpark they are going to be in six months time. They're not going to be planning to buy a PS3 one month and then figure out that they're too poor the next.
Job layoffs, medical expenses, school, car repair, funeral costs, divorce, marriage, children situations, legal fees, there are plenty of ways someones financial situation can change dramatically in six months
