The Good Citizens of Metropolis: The Casting Thread

I get all that but why can't we have our Nolan or Reeves solo film that tells a full Superman story outside of the DCEU.

I'm tired of the whole DCEU, it's just a mess that I don't see any coming back from. It feels like the X-Men films all over again.

lol don’t drag my X-Men movies into this mess!

It’d be good to see Fishburne back as Perry White (and expand the Daily Planet staff). That being said, I wouldn’t be opposed to seeing a recast for Lois

Jessica Chastain would be a great alternate:

I'm not really too attached to any of the cast, including cavill.
I just want a bright and hopeful superman film with Brainiac as the villain and a very intimidating Lex.

Nothings stopping them from doing a "full Superman story" within that world. Just make movies. Lol they don't have to "come back" from anything.

They need to get out of the mess they have made which is what it seems like they are trying to do but X-Men tried that and it didn't go so well (that doesn't mean DC cant)

By full Superman story I mean an fresh origin, spending time with all ages of Clark and not featuring other DC characters.

Reboot or not, the last thing I want to see is another Superman origin.

Superman will never move forward if they just keep telling the same story over and over and over and over.

I really don't think we have had a feature film that has done a full origin story, I'm not talking about showing 30 mins of Krypton exploding at the start, I want to see the life of Clark as he goes from a child-teen-young adult- adult... that features dialogue and not a brooding Superman.

A film that shows how and why Clark becomes Superman, traveling and learning from the world, forming relationships over time.

I don't want - Clark lives in Smallville then enters icy Fortress of Solitude and fly's out as Superman.

I don't think we have had this proposed origin story before, not on the big screen and even if we wanted to count S:TM... its over 40 years old.

You might have seen me post this before, you might not like it and obviously don't have to read it but this is the sort of thing I am talking about.

Look, up in the sky!

(Keep in mind its unfinished and things can change)

They can also have Superman fighting General Zod once again. :o

I doubt it’ll be a reboot at all it’ll just be a fresh story with this Superman

We will have a villain such as Brainiac or metallo this time. Bet on it.

Magog could be interesting. People often debate Superman's relevance in today's climate, and that's a key plot point in Kingdom Come. So make a movie about it. Why does Superman matter?

Call me crazy but I wanna see Clark kent actually doing some real investigative reporting.

Then something happens ( pick your poison, plane crashing, building fire etc)

We see him pause, cock his head and listen close, the superman theme slowly starts.
he runs to a nearby alley, and in slo mo, we see each button on his shirt pop off and fall to the ground.
The Superman theme picks up.
We see the \S/ revealed in all it's glory.
We see a fully revealed Superman.
He launches straight up.

Or the elite.
Manchester Black makes more sense if you want a more overtly villainous character to pit Superman against. Magog is a bit more gray, which I think would foster more interesting dialogue. Plus from a pure aesthetic standpoint he has a more marketable design.

I could see the movies amalgamating Magog, Manchester Black, & Metallo in a story where Superman and the world at large question his relevancy/usefulness in a modern world—use Metallo’s likeness & powerset as the new “Man of Steel” but build his characterization/story is a combination of the three.

Reassert Superman’s importance in a world filled with Black Adams lol.

Jason Isaacs would kill it as Lex.

For Brainiac I'm thinking along the lines of Keanu Reeves or Hugo weaving.

John Goodman as Perry.

I'd recast the kents as well.
Kurt Russell as Jonathan
Geena Davis as martha.

My dreamcast for Lex for the longest time has been Tom Cruise, but I think I have to accept he’s getting too old for it. I don’t want Lex to be too much older than Supes. And if we’re sticking with a younger Lex, I like this guy:
