The Offical Saturday Night Live Thread - Part 3

Papyrus 2 would have been much better with the audio of the audience laughing. Shame it was cut for time.

I was so blown away by Beavis and Butthead that I forgot that this even happened, lol

This might have been the best SNL in a long time for me, including the cut for time Papyrus 2. It's funny how I absolutely can't stand whenever Jimmy Fallon breaks but when Gosling does it it's charming and hilarious.

If they were actually playing those characters in the sketch, I’d honestly be wondering how long before they decide to give them a live action film.

In any case if Beavis and Butthead end up in some sort of live action project whether it's a show or a movie even if they're not played by Gosling and Mikey Day they seem to have cracked the code on makeup that's both somewhat believable and not horrifying.

I also find it hilarious that they're wearing the shirts that they use for them in promotional material and merchandise since they could only legally use the AC/DC and Metallica logos on the show.

I'm sure they'll be entertaining but I feel like both of them just hosted. I was really hoping for Conan O'Brien.

As far as double duty hosts go, I'd put Dua Lipa in the good tier but I also feel like the writers didn't give her a whole lot to do either. It would have helped if Weekend Update wasn't dragged out because it was long enough without Jerry Seinfeld showing up to try to get people to watch his crappy Pop Tarts movie.

In any case I guess I shouldn't complain since at least it wasn't stacked with "The host is hot" sketches like in the Jacob Elordi show.

Also I was probably happier before I knew what Sonny Angels were. :o

Yeah I kinda wish they gave her better skits, they should have made another Family Feud skit or something with Please Don't Destroy.

My personal favorite of the night might have been this because Kenan sold the hell out of it.

Jake G. being an all-around great host combined with a solid Weekend Update joke swap was a good end to the season.

Really curious to see all the stops they pull out for Season 50. It's already been confirmed that they're doing another three hour special in February like they did for the 40th.

I'm also curious to see if there's any cast shakeup over the summer. Because it's such a milestone season coming up, I can't see anybody leaving or Lorne firing anyone. You would think that some of them might be on the chopping block with how little screentime they get like Punkie Johnson, Molly Kearney and Michael Longfellow but with the cast being as large as it is unfortunately that's the way it goes so I don't think that's an indicator of any of their runs on the show being over.

They should keep Punkie around, especially with Election season coming up. When they did the State of the Union sketch, she played Kamala Harris. Sure, Maya Rudolph is great at it, but she lives in Los Angeles full time and might not be available to play Kamala like last time. They were able to have ScarJo play Katie Britt because she lives in NYC and is married to Colin Jost. Now if she free and open to playing Kamala, then Maya should return to the role, but if she's not, it should be Punkie Johnson. If they fire Punkie Johnson, and Maya isn't available to return, who plays Kamala in the inevitable "VP Debate Sketch?" or do they not do it at all?

So Kamala Harris during election season is either going to be Maya Rudolph or Punkie Johnson.....or you could have both in one political sketch, if the VP Debate Sketch is moderated by NBC News. You could have Maya play Kristin Welker (as she did the last election season) and Punkie as Kamala Harris.

I like Punkie and I hope she sticks around but I'm sure they'll bring Maya back as Kamala for any VP debate sketch. She doesn't seem to have any problem coming back to SNL since she hosted and cameoed this season. Punkie only played Kamala in that sketch because she sat in the background with no lines. Usually I'm not a fan of celebrity guests coming in and taking parts away from the cast but I tend to be more lenient about it when it's an SNL alum like Maya as Kamala or Ben Stiller as Michael Cohen.
