A New Era for the Wrestling Thread

You need an adult male escort I believe. That along with what they make the women wear... It's unsettling.

I spotted several women even without a hijab, obviously they were foreign workers. There was one sitting behind the commentators.

So how long before Becky isn't booked as a heel anymore? Because once again, it hasn't worked.

That's the answer. The brand title names are ridiculous. Especially as they haven't done that for the Men's titles outside the tags.

I still think there should be one proper champion in each division, that can cross over. But as the WWE doesn't see their titles as anything more then props, I guess it doesn't matter.

In other news...

I have no problem with multiple belts. We don't get Big E as a champ if not for that.

The problems is one of the "champs" is almost always the lesser. It's why Charlotte got all up in her feelings. It's why Roman is "the guy" and Big E is one of the guys.

So disappointing that Cody couldn't put his ego aside and put Malakai Black over to end this feud and let Black move on undefeated... Get your win back in a year or two when Black is more established with this new company and the timing is right. Black should be headed straight to the top of the company... I realize he's not the first heel to get more cheers than boo's, and I realize part of the cheering is becuz fans are sick of Cody but Black is starting to really get over with the fans. Pretty impressive for a guy who's only 5 matches in (I realize alot of AEW fans already knew who he was but still...)

Obviously I'm bias because he's my current favorite wrestler by far, but he really does have it all... Great in the ring, his work looks brutal/real which I love, very good wrestling psychology, very creative mind for story telling and his gimmick, his finisher is one of the best in the business, he's very good on the mic, good look, great entrance, works extremely hard, and he respects the business (he more than most had reason to blast WWE cuz they screwed with his wife too and has been pretty tame in his shots at them). 5 Years from now, Black should be one of the top guys and faces of the company. Personally I think he should be the next man up for the World Title after Danielson eventually takes it off of Boreman Page.

Oh, and also, I'm coming dangerously close to thinking that MJF is already the greatest promo guy of All-Time... Dude is phenomenal on the mic, he's another one that should be at the Top of AEW in 5 years or less.

I don't think Black lost out much from it all. The whole match framed it as a win by any means for the Nightmare Family. Black and Andrade could get Cody back yet

Man, how bad must things have gone when they escorted her out of the building.
But i cant blame her, the idea of just swapping the titles was dumb as hell and made the titles and the runs look dumb.

It was so stupid and shows the WWE has no respect at all for the titles, they are nothing but toys for them.
Rumor has it currently that Charlotte was so upset because she was fighting to drop the belt to Bianca to avoid the dumb swap segment, since its...well dumb.
Its not the first time we heard rumors that Charlotte proposed ideas to elevate others but got shot down.
But that goes against what i see from her in the ring, she is less concentrated and seems to be not too willing to sell the offensive of others as well as she could.

Will be interesting to see where this goes.

Charlotte's issue wasn't trading titles. She was mad because a spot where Becky held both belts (Becky Two Belts) was written in, and she thought it made her look weak. This is why Becky ws holding her title, reached for the other, and Charlotte dropped it on purpose. So Becky couldn't do it. That's why Becky threw the belt at her. Considering it's Charlotte, who has had everyone doing the business for her, for years, it's embarrassing.

Her wanting to drop the belt to Bianca... why so she could win the other belt off of Sasha? :funny:

So all weekend I have been reading stuff. And it really does seem Charlotte has become a nightmare. No one seems to like her. No one. And Becky, who is seemingly beloved in the back, is getting everyone's support here for standing up to Charlotte. Something others have been wanting to do. I really do wonder if Charlotte is jealous of Becky's success. I also wonder if this might have to do with her relationship.

Charlotte Flair reportedly isolated herself from WWE locker room, friends don't recognize her anymore, Becky Lynch seen as hero backstage

I've said it for awhile and I'll keep saying it. I'm just not a fan of Charlotte. I'm not saying she's not good at what she's done, but this incessant need by WWE to replicate Ric Flair with is daughter is what is annoying. Her character literally can't survive without being in the title hunt. No other Horsewoman can say that.

That and she bores me to tears.

I won’t ever defend WWE’s booking because it’s stench is the reason why I don’t watch anymore. But at the same time one of the reasons I stopped watching was because of all the ways they shoved Charlotte in our faces and hurt other just as talented women on the roster while doing it, so while I think a belt swap is a goofy idea, at the same time I still say do your freakin’ job! Especially someone who has gotten so many darn title reigns at the expense of others just so she can reach her fathers title reign numbers. Someone who absolutely bores me on the mic and honestly is debatably overrated in the ring (I think she’s great and has skill but the best can do what Sasha, Becky, Io, Asuka and Bayley do. They can make their in ring partner look like a start whether they win or lose. They can work with a mediocre partner and get a good match out of them. I’ve seen enough times with people like Nia Jax and Lacey Evans that Charlotte can’t do that). And worse is that most of the women look awful after wrestling Charlotte. Like they don’t even belong in the same ring, and I don’t even get that from Ric. Charlotte’s selling is freakin’ awful. She’s stiff as a bored, and I lost respect for her after that garbage she pulled on Kairi Sane. Yet she gets all of these reigns and disrespects the other talented wrestlers there? Nope, not cool. Not cool at all.

I am definitely not a fan of Charlotte Flair for quite a few reasons, one being that she's always been uber protected and gotten mega pushes but still complains over any slight detail she doesn't like and she's obviously not a fan of putting over other girls. That said, I do believe she is the greatest women's wrestler of all-time... in ring... work rate... A caveat to that is that I believe that women's wrestling is still pretty much in it's infancy in terms of the mainstream wrestling television product. So her being the greatest ever, probably won't last all that long since there hasn't been the long history that the men have had.

So with this Becky/Charlotte thing, I'm definitely not surprised to learn that she's becoming a problem backstage. For one, again, she's very protective of herself because WWE has always given her the keys to the Women's Division so that's spoiled her. Her Dad isn't a great influence because he was a selfish overrated "go into business for himself" type that refused to do jobs and complain when things didn't go his way and has also been complaining about Charlotte's booking for years behind the scenes despite her being mega pushed her whole career. Combine that with the, unsurprisingly, lazy booking of swapping the belts and let's face it, Becky becoming a bit of a mark for herself too since her big rise to fame and this was just a set up for failure.

At the end of the day though, it's Vince's fault for booking this dumb segment, which could have easily been avoided in a million different ways. Like, ending the horrible brand split, or at least merging the women's and tag divisions since it's spread too thin for there to be 2 world belts for either Division. Or the even simpler route of just having Becky and Charlotte drop the belts to Bianca and Sasha since they were going the correct ways in the Draft, and then just having one or both of them win them back at some point if he feels it's that necessary for Flair and Becky to be Champions. We all know Charlotte needs 4 more reigns to tie Daddy that they've been working towards for years now anyway...

NXT UK is interesting for several reasons:

- The Heritage Cup: It's basically a trophy, but it's not a "you win a trophy and it's never used again" like you see so much in WWE. The trophy is defended like a title and has already been defended on multiple occasions from the trophy's two champions: A-Kid, the first champion and then Tyler Bate, the current champion. They also contest the matches under British Rounds Rules, which goes like this:

  • Matches consist of six three-minute rounds with 20-second breaks between each round.
  • Matches are 2-out-of-3 falls.
  • Falls can be won by pinfall, submission, or countout.
  • Once a fall occurs, the round ends.
  • The match ends once a wrestler has won two falls.
  • In the event of a disqualification or knockout, the match instantly ends without the need for two falls.
  • If all six rounds are completed, whoever is ahead on falls wins the match
- The talent: If you are wondering "whatever happened to Noam Dar?" well, he's in NXT UK and he's had some great matches in NXT UK and has been booked way better there then he did on 205 Live. Same answer to the question "whatever happened to Trent Seven and Tyler Bate?" They are in NXT UK as well. The Women's Division doesn't have the names that NXT or the main roster did, but they have a lot of talent. Bea Priestley, formerly of AEW is there as Blair Davenport. Doudrop came from NXT UK and she had been killing it as Piper Niven.

I know I am the only one that cares, but if you yearn for the old days of pre-taped one hour NXT shows with excellent matches then NXT UK is for you, except without the fan fare. It's too bad for many of you the WWE have scarred you so bad that none of you are willing to give NXT UK a chance, because I think many of you will enjoy it. Again, it's what NXT was in 2019 but without any fanfare.

I don't hate Cody but his over the top entrances does look like a giant ego stroke. If Cody was a pretentious heel like Triple H or Kenny Omega then it would work but it doesn't fit for a babyface like Cody.

It's interesting. I feel like Bayley can effortlessly play both a heel and face. Becky, who is a proper face, can be heel. Sasha, a proper heel, can be a face. But when they wanted to give Charlotte a face run, it didn't take either time. No one cared.

Charlotte is an amazing athlete. She's a great overall pro wrestler. But she seems to think she can't survive without Hogan like booking, and nobody wants that.

Her sexual assaulter father once said she was upset they weren't elevating more women. And while I actually believe that is true, the answer to that probably wasn't, "so they could go over her". No, it's so she could beat them in the end.

Think Charlotte/Sasha from back in the day. A feud where Charlotte lost plenty, but in the end went over, and did so collecting how many titles?

I think being a Flair, put Charlotte in a unfortunate situation and made her incredible arrogant.
Being that Amazing of a Wrestler and been given opportunitys left and right, did the rest.

Its not even fully her fault i would say, the WWE so desperatly wanted her to be a female Ric Flair that they forced her into a position where she has constantly fight against being compared to her father, where her accomplishments arent her own, but just a Flairs.

It is a damn shame, a humble teamplayer Charlotte that doesnt want the constant spotlight...would be such an asset for the Womens Division to raise the bar.

I used to rave about Charlotte and she was, in my opinion, the best female perfomer in the ring.

But they ruined her when she beat Asuka at Mania. Like I knew Asuka had to lose the streak at some point, but I really felt she deserved her Mania moment. Once she got that she could lose the streak in a way that made her look strong.

It still angers me to think about what they ended up doing instead, Charlotte destroying Asuka and making her tap clean.
