Transformers: Dark of the Moon Hitting Blu-ray and DVD on Sept. 30

Paramount Home Entertainment has announced that Michael Bay's Transformers: Dark of the Moon will hit Blu-ray and DVD on September 30, followd by a deluxe Blu-ray and DVD release in the coming months. Here is the full press release:

Spectacular action, stunning visual effects, non-stop thrills and fan-favorite characters including OPTIMUS PRIME, BUMBLEBEE and Sam Witwicky rocketed Transformers: Dark of the Moon into the stratosphere, with the latest installment of the wildly popular TRANSFORMERS franchise surpassing its predecessors to earn over $1.1 billion at the worldwide box office. From Paramount Pictures in association with Hasbro, the breathtaking film redefines the scale, scope and emotional impact of what a blockbuster can be with the ongoing epic story of the mighty AUTOBOTS in a thrill-packed adventure that the whole family can enjoy. Distributed by Paramount Home Entertainment, the film will debut in a Blu-ray/DVD Combo with a digital copy and on standard DVD on Friday, September 30, 2011, followed by a deluxe Blu-ray and DVD release, including a Blu-ray 3D, in the coming months.

"For fans who can't wait, the Blu-ray release in September will deliver an awesome ride with the movie in stunning 1080p high definition and a 7.1 Dolby TrueHD soundtrack that was personally overseen by our phenomenal supervising sound mixer just for the Blu-ray," said director Michael Bay. "As you know, we put a lot of effort into the 3D experience for the theatrical release and I want to make sure we get it right for home viewing—and that process takes time. So stay tuned for an even more incredible release that will include the film on Blu-ray 3D and loads of bonus features."

From director Michael Bay and executive producer Steven Spielberg, in association with Hasbro, Transformers: Dark of the Moon explodes with high-octane action when a mysterious event from Earth's past erupts into the present day threatening to bring a war to Earth so big that the TRANSFORMERS alone will not be able to save us. Stars Shia LaBeouf (Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull), Josh Duhamel (Life As We Know It), Tyrese Gibson (Four Brothers) and John Turturro (The Good Shepherd) have returned along with a host of new stars including Patrick Dempsey ("Grey's Anatomy"), Frances McDormand (Fargo) and John Malkovich (Beowulf). The film also features the voices of Leonard Nimoy ("Star Trek") and Hugo Weaving (Captain America: The First Avenger) and introduces newcomer Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

Epic Marketing Support

The Transformers: Dark of the Moon Blu-ray and DVD debut will be supported by a massive marketing and promotional campaign befitting the mega-hit status of the franchise. In addition to a multi-million dollar advertising blitz spanning television, print, radio and online, a stellar array of allies has joined forces with Paramount Home Entertainment to transmit the AUTOBOTS' message to all inhabitants of the globe.

Hasbro will host a "Roll Out In PRIME Style" sweepstakes in the U.S. giving entrants the chance to "Win a Ride to School" with the AUTOBOTS! The grand prize winner will be picked up by BUMBLEBEE and transported to school where OPTIMUS PRIME will be waiting with TRANSFORMERS toys and products in his trailer. Details are available at www.TransformersPrimeStyle.com.

Also in the U.S., Hostess will feature TRANSFORMERS images on millions of packages and will have thousands of displays in grocery and convenience stores across the country. Release date Sept. 30th.

Damn, the gap between theatrical and DVD release seems to be getting smaller and smaller. I ain't complaining, though.

Well this is unexpected, I figured that Paramount would have release this around the Christmas time to cash in on the big holiday. I think September is too early . Well I Guess Captain America will cash in big in December with it's Dvd and blu-Ray release .

Scratch that. The Sept. date is not official. Could be anytime between then and Nov.

A lot of sites are reporting September 30th. I'm hoping that's the date but September and October are going to kick my wallet's ass in terms of how many Blu-rays I'll be buying.

September 30th is the release date but,

Official Transformers Movie Website has been updated with the Transformers: Dark of the Moon Home Release Info.

At the moment you can only see the update on a mobile device (see image).

The release is happening on September 30th, 2011 (as previously rumored to happen) which is only 29 days away.

The third movie is available on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Download.

Update: Our good friend Liselotte found out that, at the blu-ray.com forums, a member claiming to be working on the Home Release mentions that a 3D Edition will be available this December. But of course, do take it with a grain of salt.

Update 2: Nelson; the admin of Official Michael Bay website mentions that the 2-Disc Special Edition won't be out till December. He also confirms the 6-Disc Trilogy Edition arriving in a metal Autobot logo casing.
Looks like I'll be holding out until December for the version with the special features. Bogus.

Whats up with the ugly banner?

I might just double dip and give the single disc version away as a Christmas present.

Updated with Official Blu-ray/DVD Press Release.

Walmart Exclusive Transformers Dark Of The Moon with Sentinel Prime on the Blu-Ray cover. This will probably just be the Blu-Ray only version but at least people will have a choice. http://www.walmart.com/ip/17253138 I will probably just get the triple pack for a few dollars more although I like this cover better.

So no special features on the October blu ray release? What a rip off. I can wait until December for the special edition in December.

Apparently not but then maybe it will have BD-Live extras to download & watch like a sneek peak at the better edition of the movie that will be coming out in a couple of months.

I kinda like this cover too but the thing is if the other version only has the bluray/digital copy/standard then i might as well just go with this bluray version since it seems there are no extra features on any of them until they special edition comes out in Dec.
Does anyone know if they are going to have ANYTHING with the versions being released on the 30th?

Barebones. Just like Avatar no special features on initial release.

any target or best-buy exclusive covers? i have both target dvd for 1 and 2. the optimus prime and bumblebee. i hope they have megatron again, or the sentinal prime.

Just go with whatever suits you best. There may or may not be a non 3-D Bluray combo pack re-released by itself when the Special Edition comes out so this may be your only chance to get the dvd & digital copy without buying a more expensive set.

Think I will be holding out for the deluxe edition personally, dont see the point in buying the movie and then a few months later buying it again.

Is the UK getting a deluxe edition does anyone know?

Nice. A bigger incentive to get the combo pack than buy the bare-bones DVD...
