Truly the most shocking and sad newsarticle I've ever read..

I think the ones that deserve most of the blame are the "leaders" like the racist Jesse Jackson and the corrupt Al Sharpton. Hell, most of the well known black leaders of yesteryear (MLK, Malcom X, etc.) were communists or socialists, which certainly hasn't helped either.
What black leader was a communist?

and there's nothing wrong with being a socialist. I'm not surprised at all if black leaders during the 60's preferred socialism. A safety net is nice to have when there's institutional racism impeding your success in the private sector.

Alright, we have gotten a little off track here.

Just to clarify, my point was (as several others have said as well), nobody is making anyone, black or white, rich or poor have an abortion. That is the choice of the woman and has nothing to do with any government conspiracy.

My second point was that aside from the abortion, there are plenty of other choices being made both before and after pregnancy that add up to these or any abortion numbers being high. Not having sex, using a condom or using birth control are all options that are available to anyone. And yes, here where I live (it cant be the only city in America this way) women/people can get FREE condoms and birth control and free counseling. The after pregnancy options have also been discussed.

Just wanting to streamline and clarify.

but people like Jackson and Sharpton who stay relevant by exploiting the racial divide isn't helping matters

Yeah, Sharpton came down here (so did the New Black Panther Party) after 2 cops (1 black, 1 Latino) shot a fleeing black suspect.
He was pretty straightforward, but tried to stir the pot a little bit. As stated, he needs to in order to stay relevant.

The Black Panther Party's ties to Communism are well documented (Mao's Red Book use to be required reading).

?? People in the situation that you named in the first line is exactly who the assistance is intended for.

How could you lose those benefits?
Sometimes your net worth has to be incredibly low. So if you have a car you don't qualify even if your flat broke.

Why should a single woman put herself in a position where she's responsible for a looking after a baby and can't work when the government is going to look for excuses to cut her off left and right?

Would you want to be in that position?

I agree with everything you've said in this post. My issue is with the idea that socioeconomic factors don't play an enormous role.

Do you have any numbers/experience to back this up or is it just what you think/heard on the street? Dont take me wrong, Im not denying this, just want to know #1 what type of aid/assistance you are talking about and #2 where you may have learned that a car would disqualify you from receiving it.

"The government is going to look for excuses to cut her off left and right?"
Have you ever worked for/with the government? I have, and in my experience, this is far from the truth. There are SOOOO many people out there that get some sort of assistance (a monthly check, housing, etc) that in my opinion, should not qualify for it. BUT, the government has does it because they meet some minimum standard or just to ensure that they have covered their bases.

And no, I wouldnt want to be in any position where I either needed or felt like I needed assistance from the government. BUT, if that was the case, I certainly would accept it, in order for me and my child/family to eat/survive.

As I stated above, we have gotten a bit off track.

Yeah but you listed MLK and Malcolm X.

and The Black Panthers sympathized with communist. That's a far way from being a card carrying communist.

Fair enough.:word:
On our one point of contention then, tell me exactly how the factors affect what we are talking about, that way we can continue our discussion, only centered around that.

Id say curent living conditions, maybe they are from a single parent home and that parent doesn't work or works a low paying job

school probably sucks, very little education in both teenager and parent

Not sure what your post is in response to....

To be honest, I can only speculate based on the apparent correlation. You actually have more experience with these situations than I do, based on that one post. All I wanted to put forth was that the correlation existed, for whatever reason, and shouldn't be ignored. I think that provides a clue beyond the immediate and obvious conclusion of a lack of personal responsibility.

I don't know of any particular study (or group of studies) that looks at specific socioeconomic factors, though I'm certain they (the studies) exist. I have strong doubts that this particular phenomenon has been overlooked by the field of social science.

if those things are present (little to no education, barely getting by as it is) the person might be more inclined to consider abortion

I know someone who got social security income for disabled kids. Too much money in the bank or net worth (property, cars, etc) and you get cut off.

It really depends on where you live. If someone in charge wants to cut you off they can find a reason. I've seen it happen to a loved one.

Assistance is not always easy to get. You could be struggling to pay the bills but still not qualify. I'm not sure why someone in this position would choose to have an unwanted child when they already struggle. I don't know why someone would want to depend on the government at all knowing that benefits are often conditional. These woman have a choice to try to better their lives before having the added responsibility. Once you take benefits as a stay at home mom it's hard to get out of that situation.

The Black Panther Party's ties to Communism

There need for formation at the time is also well documented...w/ susbstantially larger federal survellence than say ohhh...50 or so years of turning the other way while the Klan original domestic terror organizations ran unabaited.

Well Norm, funny how things work out ain't it....Social ideations are no match for the economic gains of cheap labor bro, Alex Hamilton will tell you that.

Since Mao's descendants are now the U.S.'s largest debt holder and largest 'trade' partner, were all a whole lot more 'RED' than were aware of. right? Besides...how would McCarthy feel about your time spent analyzing brothas transitioning there way from college to the pro game? I'm sure he'd have some choice words about drawing attention to colored athleets.

Who wants to bet that some in the black community will buy this and end up having more babies on purpose to stick it up to the whites. Thus we get more welfare check recipients thanks to this stupidity? Anyone?

You give too much credit to the black community's ability to take collective action in the 21st century.

We stick it to the white man by sleeping with white chicks, not having babies. Geez, get with it.
