IF magazine's Top ten heroes want to see turn into a film

I agree its WB's fault but since now they claim(I'll believe it when I see it) that they want to bring more DC characters to the big screen, they want the GA to care about her. Storm may not have been able to carry her own comic but Marvel was smart enough not to invest everything in Spidey and Hulk which is why you see Marvel character movies grossing almost $4B WW in the past decade.

Agreed.

Dont blaim WB for not making more comic flicks, blaim directors, writters & producers for not bringing something good to the table. Hell Batman was a franchise that would of been dead for a very very long time untill Nolan came around and said he wanted a jab at it and now bam its the most popular franchise and batman has once again become the top grossing superhero so when some one comes around and gives a good WW premise and script then we will see the movie WB has learned from there mistakes with C & B&R. Now there bringing out more movies like TDK Watchmen and the Gl movie sounds good as well as the GA so dont blaim WB blaim people for not being interested in the character.

Batman was also seen as campy joke of a character before B89 came along...A good movie can turn around Aquaman's fortune.

how do you accurately show telepathic links with fish in live action?

Actually,WB can get Hollywood motivated by getting these properties attention in the public eye with direct to dvd projects, tv shows and animation.

It's obvious the comics aren't going to do it for them.

Watchmen and GL are anamolies since the directors are hardcore comic fans of the franchises. These are exceptions, not the norm.

Nolan's Batman films, and even Singer's X-men, are so great because there are people involved who can guide with the franchises since they are comic fan themselves and the directors were willing to explore it on their own. Nolan does this more then Singer IIRC.

Either have the character have a one way conversation with the fish or have both characters talk with narration like ordinary telepathy.

If they can't get it done right without looking ridiculous they should ignore it altogether.

It's too bad the comedy Aquaman movie got canned... If there's any "mainstream" Superhero that deserves the parody treatment, it's Aquaman. :D

Just glances and facial expression would work for me. Maybe hearing Orin's voice, but not the marine life. He shouldn't really be talking to him. He should command them and ask them for help.

It's already gotten the parody treatment for long enough.

Its time Hollywood tried making using its potential not squandering it because they're memories of Aquaman are from a crappy outdated tv show.

I like it.

The main thing is the costume. i think a better costume would be something like what he had in Waterbearer (the green coral pants) with maybe the armor from the recent guy.

Huh? lol Of course that would be ridiculous.

Aquaman uses telepathy to make marine life do what he wants them to do, they dont sit and have a chat with each other.

Why does everyone hate Aquaman? Hell people went to see Finding Nemo and even crap like Shark Tale... I'm sure a superhero fighting ocean monsters would generate some interest. It'd be a nice change from a guy in a cape fighting bad guys on rooftops.

1.) WONDER WOMAN

(C) DC Comics
Ideally they should preserve the WWII-era setting for her first visit to the world of men, but it doesn’t really matter. Cast the right raven-haired Amazon and we’ll go see it.
Casting Choices: Evangeline Lilly, Morena Baccarin

9.) SUPERGIRL

(C) DC Comics

The Helen Slater misfire notwithstanding, it’s about time Superman’s cousin got a second chance at movie stardom. Perhaps Peter David’s excellent run could serve as inspiration for a take on the character as a fallen angel.
Casting Choice: Katherine Heigl, Kate Hudson

Oh God stop the madness. Just let it stop.

I don't like Aquaman and I'm not sure I'd go see his movie if it was in theaters but if done properly the movie can do really well. I don't understand the hate about him.

Because his powers are pretty much useless.
How many villains can there be done underwater, at that; let alone decent ones? A whole film that takes place in water? No

Storm - 3 big budget live action movies (with a critically acclaimed actress no less!), 3 cartoon series

Critically acclaimed, however not right for that particular part.

Batman was also seen as campy joke of a character before B89 came along...A good movie can turn around Aquaman's fortune.

Aquaman never had a movie to begin with, there's no solid foundation to judge it upon.

Joss Whednon's WW script and his ideas apparently didn't see eye to eye with TPTB, so he left. Well, that was helpful!

You're not comparing Finding Nemo to Aquaman are you?

What did I say? :csad:

Nothing. Sorry if I came off as bitter. But it seems like Aquaman will never get a chance to make it to the big screen because people are too fixated with the Super-Friends parodies.

Because his powers are pretty much useless.

What powers does he have? How are they useless?

I know the answer but I want to know what you know.

Many of his villains can survive on the surface. Some are Atlanteans like himself.

Critically acclaimed, however not right for that particular part.

They could have gotten practically any experienced actress it would still be better then Linda Carter, when her acting wasn't that good, or Megan Gale.

^I was referring to Halle Berry as Storm, not WW.

I'm just not too crazy about a possible 2 hour film with a setting like that.

From the top of my head -- he can swim underwater without oxygen :D

So was I.

WW has never had an actress equal to Storm's in live action film yet. That's why I bought her up.

It doesn't have to take place underwater for the entire movie.

Not that being underwater scenes couldn't be done well. It's amazing what can be done with CGI and miniatures these days.

Be serious, please. Why do you think that is useless?

OK I get what you mean [the WW by comparison] now. Kind of gotten me confused there.

I don't see whats so great about Lynda Carter or why WW fans make it seem as if she is someone any new actress must "live up to". What did she do that was so special? Besides being pretty.

No, I am serious. I like my superheroes to stay on the ground. CGI is great and all, but I'm getting kind of tired of it lately. I think it was King Kong (2005) that did it for me.

Sorry.

She was competent in an era of camp where low budget shows were the norm for a character which has never had a good live action adaption.

The bar wasn't that high for her to be the best.

You're just burnt out on CGI. Just avoid the films with it for a while.

Aquaman's abilities to swim in the water can make him incredibly bad ass. He's got around Spider-man level super-strength, incredibly durable (bullet proof since Atlanteans have to survive in the ocean's constant pressure), enhanced reflexes and has minor super-speed on land. In the water these abilities are about a hundred times superior. His hook could cut through steel like butter in seconds with his speed and power behind it.

He once had the ability to cause seizures with any being which species was descended from fish, including White Martians. He's a warrior king that when I was reading commanded a fleet of ships that was powerful enough to threaten the entire world's surface militaries into surrendering just by showing up.

He's the kind of anti-hero who wouldn't be afraid to piss off guys like Orion if he doesn't like what they are doing. He did this in Morrison's JLA.

Watch the episodes he appeared in on JLU. Its the best adaption of the comics.

I'm only a casual Aquaman fan. There's plenty more there like the Water Hand but I don't know the specifics on that.
