Game of Thrones

I'm very interested to see how they do the [blackout]sky cells[/blackout]. The visual designs for the show have so far been fantastic. The Wall in particular looks better than I ever imagined it while reading.

Same. [blackout]Viserys getting his crown should be glorious.[/blackout]

Question for those of you who read the books. When Snow threatened the other member of the Watch while he slept to leave Sam alone- was the Dire wolf actually there or did he just see it??

He was there. That's Ghost, Jon's direwolf. The badest one of the bunch. That's why people were complaining that he was pretty much absent through the first three episodes.

Here you go

Not as cramped as I would have hoped but the effect should still be the same.

Weird, I never thought of it that way. For some reason, I thought of the castle as just being somewhat unfinished on the sky cells' side, not that the sky cells' open wall would be more like a giant window. But it does look good.

Thanks, loving this show but kinda wishing Stark had more of a poker face- The Queen sees him coming a mile away

His lack of a poker face is also an intrinsic part of the character. He's an honorable, honest man by nature.

I hope the success(?) of this first season allows them to really increase the budget on season 2... the cramped spaces and lack of scale is noticably distracting. The tourney this week looked rediculous.

You have no idea how I'm waiting on that. But I try to limit myself to thinking about the upcoming chapters (at the pace the show is going) but yes, I greatly look forward to that.

Also,
aside from the sky cells not looking quite right to me, I saw a picture of the moon door a couple months ago on one of those web sites. Seems it's in the middle of the floor rather than an actual opening in the wall (ya know, like a DOOR).

Yeah the Eryie seems to deviate from the books the most. The reason being is they reused a movie set from your highness to film it. Trying to keep costs down. Not a big deal in my opinion. I think the show looks great.

Here's another one that needs to be an Avy

LOL that gif. It pretty much sums up my feelings on Littlefinger with one image: creepy dude, yet undeniably entertaining.

And that same honor is why he is so uncomfortable in King's Landing. Ned is a simple guy in a complicated place. The conversation (and presentation of the scene) between him and Littlefinger was a fantastic illustration of that.

Loved seeing Gentry, Ghost, Sam, The Mountain, and Viserys getting smacked by Dany. Sam telling his story to Jon was very touching.

I can't wait till he really starts getting creepy ... with him and his "daughter." LOL Littlefinger rules.

Yes, I was glad to see Gendry too. Wished they gave a better look at the Helm, but I understand why Ned held it down. They play for "natural" in the show so he's not gonna hold it up and turn to the light for the camera.

Simple code of ethics, certainly. I think it's a mischaracterization to call Ned "simple" overall, though. He's definitely clever enough to hold his own in the game of thrones, except the very idea of playing along with these weasels and two-faced backstabbers on their own level is so distasteful to him that he can't quite stomach it. Unfortunately, as the Hand of the King, he doesn't have the luxury of not participating.

Let me clarify, when I called Ned "simple" I meant that he would much rather prefer to live life at face value than the weasels and two-faced back stabbers in King's Landing. He prefers to get his hands dirty and work shoulder to shoulder with his subjects in Winterfell than deal with the pomp of the nobility and schemers.

The cast is so amazingly good on this show. But Tyrion and Ned really steal the show. They are so good and believable in their roles.

He never wanted to be the Hand, because he does not want to rule the whole realm. He had enough trouble running Winterfell and bolstering the forces on the wall with his own men when needed. Not to mention Winterfell's real duty, to produce enough from the land in the north so that he and everyone loyal to him can survive winter ... no matter how long it is this time.

Being The Hand, especially Robert's Hand pretty much means he is king. He's running the show while Robert drinks and bangs his way through everything in sight. See, Ned grew up while Robert is still the knight he was when they were teenagers.

just saw the new episode, i loved the last scene at the tavern or inn, whatever it was. everyone pulled a sword.

Basically just here to show off the new avvy.

I'm OBSESSED. I'm seriously tearing through Game of Thrones. And reading way to many spoilers. Especially those about Jon Snow...
