Reed - late 30s/early 40s
Ben - late 30s/early 40s
Sue - late 20s/early 30s
Johnny late teens/early 20s

Is my preferred age range.

Just devil's advocate, but depending on when the FF movie comes out, you don't necessarily need a high school age Johnny Storm to have him around Peter Parker's age. I don't know what specific grade Peter is supposed to be in right now, but it's entirely possible he could canonically be around 19 or early 20s in universe by the time Johnny gets introduced.
Actually, in the comics Johnny is slightly older than Peter.

I would ideally like to see Reed be cast within the very late 30's range.

Ben between mid to late 30's to very early 40's in range.

Sue should be out of her 20's in my mind, up to mid 30's.

As I have stated before Johnny in my mind needs to be presented as an honest to god teenager and neither an adult nor some aerospace engineer nor astronaut. As such he needs to be cast in such a way that the actor whatever his age is can pass as high school age teen.

It's weird cuz Reed & Ben are written to be older and the Storms are written to be younger, leaving us fans to walk on eggshells making sure the age gap between Reed & Sue isn't too uncomfortable, and maybe some of us scratching our heads trying to work out why Ben gets treated like the rambunctious baby of the group right next to Johnny.

Yeah reed I would love to see a 30 y.o, Susan and Ben similar age. Johnny should be Holland’s age

When reading the FF they don't really treat Ben like a child. Some say that they are "old fashioned" nuclear family, when they are not. They are pretty unconventional.
Johnny is the only one treated more like the baby brother, but he's never grounded or anything like that. He still has more agency than if he was really their kid.

The family dynamic is more complex than it is at first glance.

Depends what you mean by uncomfortable. In Hollywood, younger actresses are often paired with older actors, sometimes with a significant difference between them. Are you constantly feeling uncomfortable with those films - eg Bradley Cooper with Jennifer Lawrence? Some people seem to fit together on screen, and I'm sure they'd find two people who do work well and seem to match physically.

In the James Bond film "The Living Daylights", Timothy Dalton was 42 and Maryam D'Abo was 26. Yet they looked very well suited to each other and had a good chemistry.

Johnny treats Ben in a way that at first glance seems often callous or cruel. But that is again more about his age. He couldn't really express himself in mature ways. He is at the age where bravado is used to cover up literally everything. He feels as bad for Ben as Reed or Sue do but he can't bring himself to break his too cool for school facade. So his way of reaching out to Ben is to be a constant thorn in his side. He gives Ben a focus to be angry at externally so that Ben doesn't get consumed by what is happening to himself internally. This can just make Johnny come off like a jerk, and doesn't do wonders for Ben's characterization either. It xan easily paint both simplistically as the two overly rambunctious"kids" of the group. Tthe constantly at warring siblings that need Mom and Dad to separate them. But it is actually a the only way Johnny can express sympathy to Ben and do something for him by stopping his melancholy from spiraling out of control.

Speak for yourself. Indeed many people get uncomfortable vibes from the constant casting of older men and much younger women. When it's not silly (Catherine Zeta Jones and Sean Connery) it indeed can often come off a little creepy. And it does affect the chemistry between leads. Pierce Brosnan with Denise Richards was absurd. Now that she was a nubile sex symbol is why lots gave that a pass... But lots of others didn't.

Now Pierce Brosnan and Renee Russo? Surprise, you actually got sparks and a memorable and believable back and forth adult romance. There is usually no chemisty when casting is done just because the actress is young and sexy. It is why, say, Craig as Bond in SPECTRE has ten times the chemistry with a veteran beauty like Belluci in the, what, ten minutes or less they share the screen in that film? Compared to the "Bond" girl he ends up with at the end that we are told by the script that a strong, ummm... bond has developed between them but you feel nothing.

But then I'm talking about the positive qualities of having some seasoning to an actor to someone that thinks 43 is over the hill, so, fools errand on my part and no surprise ridiculous age differences would be a thing you wouldn't bat an eye about when it comes to casting a woman against a male co-star.

Reed - mid to late 30s
Sue late 20s to mid 30s
Johnny - late teens to early 20s

Ben - can be almost anyone as long as they have the right voice and good at acting with mo-cap. He should be a rock monster all through the franchise, only getting glimpses of the man he used to be through photos. You can hire a model to do those.
In-film he should be around Reed's age.

I saw a "fan theory" circulated that, unfortunately, is an absolutely great idea that won't happen.

The theory is that, for the Endgame re-release, the sound of Tony's hammering will lead into a scene revealing it's not Tony, but Doom hammering on his armor.

Maybe it's the sound of Kinberg hammering the final nail into his own coffin with Dark Phoenix. :o

Odd... Not one person was bringing up Kinberg or Dark Phoenix.

It's a bland BO failure. But some of ya'll post like you get paid for your pissing and moaning.

I agree that randomly referencing Dark Phoenix in a thread like this for basically no reason does get old. Why do we focus so much of our time on stuff that doesn't matter? Why continue to take random shots at Trank, Snyder, Kinberg, etc. At this point, none of them matter. Their respective franchises have all moved on to greener pastures. Why can't fans?

As someone who has been guilty of taking more than a few shots at Kinberg I admit it has become rather tiresome at this point and now that he’s no longer involved with the FF and X-Men franchises beyond Dark Phoenix(we’ll see if they’ll actually do those reshoots) he has irrelevant to the topic at hand so I guess it is time to end the Kinberg-bashing(on these threads at least). It has become a bit repetitive and kind of derails the topic when repeatedly mentioned but he is such an easy target. I almost can’t help it, lol. But alas I’ll cease it for the sake of having a more focused discussion.

Feige did say they were having discussions on how to incorporate the Fox stuff into the MCU so who’s to say those talks hadn’t included continued conversations about a Doctor Doom with Noah Hawley?

My question is should a Doctor Doom film even happen before the Fantastic Four are properly introduced into the MCU or after? That would be a more unique way of bringing the Four into the universe than simply re-introducing him in yet another FF film. Plus, Doom being Marvel’s first ever supervillian film would be kind of cool. I do wonder if Marvel is watching closely who that Joker film will do(having read the summary of the film, I suspect it will be a very polarizing film).

The Russos also seem to want the Doom film to happen as do a lot of people. I certainly wouldn’t mind if it’s done right but I still suspect it will be re-confirgured into a mini-series for Disney Plus that may or may not have Noah Hawley as the showrunner.

I'm not that interested in Doom: Origins. But maybe some of those ideas could make it into a full FF reboot? Hawley would certainly be an interesting choice.

I think a Doom movie could work, actually. He can be positioned as the savior of Latveria or whatever in one movie and the evil, power hungry villain we all know and love the next. If Doom is to not be in the 1st FF movie, doing a FF movie, a Doom movie/Disney+ series, and then crossing them over in FF2 would be a fine way to do it. I approve. Legion is a great show, so Hawley doing this would inspire confidence in me.
