Superman & Lois General News & Discussion Thread (TAG SPOILERS!)

I disagree. I think it would’ve been a more refreshing, maybe even more interesting dynamic if it was a son and daughter. They might’ve gone the lazy route and made her exactly like Lois (just like they could with the boys and Clark), but I’d have loved to see Clark interact with a daughter.

The two sons dynamic is important to the story, the set up of Jonathan been superior to Jordan worked so well. Do that with a son and daughter and I don’t think it works the same.

It’s cool if people disagree but they’ve gone the way they have and I’m glad.

Also i forgot to mention in my review that i watched this on the CW app. Will the rest of the episodes be on there or just the first?

Of course it wouldn't be the same. I said as much. But regardless of how compelling it can be - and it can be compelling, no doubt about it - I'm kind of over seeing brotherly conflict. There can be equally interesting drama that can arise between siblings of different genders/sexes, and it'd be nice to see healthy father/daughter, mother/daughter dynamics on top of that. Making only one of the twins a boy still gives you a father/daughter and mother/son interplay.

I would assume the other episodes will be on there as well, but you could also buy the season pass on any digital service for $24

Man, the padding on the suit will forever bother me if it'll always remain like the pilot.

The CW always puts their shows on there the day after airing. But don't fall too far behind because they only keep the most recent few eps on there, I believe, so you couldn't binge the whole season or anything like that.

Yup. Same. Hoechlin's natural physique works perfectly fine for the character. They should be enhancing it, not exaggerating it. As it is, his shoulders look completely unnatural and the material of the bodysuit suit hangs awkwardly off the muscle suit it's been glued to.

Ah I see, well that's fine because I plan on watching the morning after anyway so it's all good.

Even though its nice....we really need to get away from this "big muscles" fad for Superheroes unless you are one of the funnier/nerdier ones.

It also forces them into the small neck opening to try and hide Hoechlin's somewhat thin neck, I really hope we get a more subtle suit at some point in the future.

I think padding like that only works if we're watching some parody/comedy. But, if they're playing it straight, it just looks too goofy. Like with Hoechlin, it doesn't look "natural" compared to how he looks outside of the suit and it makes his head look too small. Gives me a chuckle at times. :hehe:

Yeah, the suit's padding and fake muscles really looked bad in shots like these (imho).

Is John Diggle scheduled to make an appearance on this show this season?

Yes, that is correct. Not sure which episode though.

Unless there's something else that I'm missing, he'll probably be this show's biggest connection to the larger Arrowverse.

Just finished it, loved a lot about it. The Morgan Edge MAGA thing, Smallville in financial depression -- for my money, it's the right dash of topical and I'm intrigued with where they take it. Hoechlin and Tulloch are fantastic, they carried the pilot and I like them together a lot. The brothers and Lana's daughter have a cool dynamic that doesn't immediately make me miss the adults. I would've liked a son-daughter combo too, I think there's enough that they could've kept if they'd made one a girl, but I'm guessing the brothers' rivalry is gonna be the lifeblood of the show.

As a pilot, it had a movie-ish vibe different from Supergirl's. Hope they don't lose that with subsequent episodes.

I thought so too. At various times, Supergirl tried the MAGA allegory. But it was rather clumsy and too on-the-nose. S&L did it far better.

Here's a clip from the next episode to show how well they've maintained the movie quality: :o
