Justice League Ray Fisher - WB Investigation Updates Thread

Exactly, I challenge any editors out there to make ZSJL into a coherent 2-hour movie, as per the original studio mandate.

Honestly, the fact the movie went from a 2 parter to a single film... was unfortunate... even still the fact that the studio then cut it off at the legs by making a 2-hour movie... Oof. I'm not envious of anyone tasked to do just that.

Didn't the studio mandate come at the final hour? As in, months before it was released?
It comes off a bit revisionist to cite it as original studio mandate if in fact it wasn't a mandate at the start of shooting.

The movie was rushed to come out with AT+T sale pending and the head honcho (who later had his own bad publicity but I won't get into that) being impatient yet pushing for more editing while the movie was essentially being re-shot leaving out scenes that cost millions to make. LOL

I'd like to see a Cyborg movie at this point although it won't happen. In a way, this could touch on the timelines changing pre-WW1 due to JL3 events. Ray's Cyborg could be the cataloguer and analyzer of the temporal disturbances around him post JL3. He then experiences a Werner Herzog moment in terms of seeing the world around him as being slightly different.

Cue very brief snippets of Zach's JL 2+3 being shown through a looking glass (just brief synopsis). Cyborg continues on with his own adventure then minus the League... In a world somewhere in the multiverse of possibility...

I might be getting my investigators mixed up.
The one that he is saying was just a lawyer, is that the same person that he seemed friendly with on the tape? Or is that another investigator?

My challenge still stands though. At least it's not coming off at the final hour.

Man, every single time something happens or something new is said, I think, "There's no way people will still be defending WB and crapping on Ray Fisher after this." And every single time I'm both surprised and disappointed. I thought the Buffy cast coming out against Whedon would be the true end of it but some people are just really that obsessed with the idea that Geoff Johns has to be a good person I guess lol

WB: We support BLM, diversity, director driven entities, Ann's a woman, and Walter's Asian. Look at us!

WB proceeds to cut out Iris, Choi, Victor's mom, amputate Victor, Silas, Arthur's backstories, and "we have no fear" line :funny:

WB: F*** white supremacy

WB proceeds to add a bunch of scenes for the British white male actor after cutting out the scenes mentioned above

Hey I know how to play the game too.

Yeah, Iris was in one scene and it was the worst scene in any DC movie ever (yes, that includes Superman 4 and Batman & Robin). It wasn’t her fault, but I would have cut everything in that scene and never let it see the light of day.

Victor’s parents and Choi could have been kept in, though I don’t know that we needed that much. Some of Cyborg’s frustration with his father seems a little ridiculous, honestly. I can understand being resentful that he’s more machine than man, but he seems more pissed at his dad for missing a football game and not dying in a car wreck with his mom.

"As in" I said in what you quoted. 2 hrs 28 min. man of steel and 2 hrs 31 min extended to 3 hrs 3 minutes for BvS.

The Justice League no doubt would've just cut out subplots and character arcs adding them back in for home release. Keep in mind Snyder would've had a chance to do reshoots before theatrical release as well if didn't have to leave.

As for the 2 hr game, I'm not indulging Tsujihara's last moment mandate in midst of whedon shoots nor should anyone. He gets wild with it.

Even in the four hour cut, Cyborg has some of the worst CG I've ever seen for a movie of this size. Same with Steppenwolf, who looks like garbage.

Kalibak would've made more sense in that role instead of Steppenwolf.

Nope! I’d still watch any of these scenes again before I’d watch Ezra tweak out in a pet shop and look like he’s about to grope Iris because he can get away with it.
I have never understood the hate Marion Cotillard received for playing Talia.

That whole Talia thing got overblown. Yes it looked goofy, but people around here seriously called Marion Cotillard a terrible actress for a bad take of a two second death scene, like it was the only thing she'd ever done.

Yeah, exactly. It’s a bad take, sure. But it doesn’t ruin the movie and it’s not proof she’s a bad actress or whatever. She was fine in the rest of the movie and has been great in other things.

Yeah, that overreaction seemed like a forerunner to how Brie Larson got treated for playing Carol Danvers. Both she and Cotillard are Oscar-winning actresses, FFS.

Someone here also said Ken Watanabe "needs to stay away from cinema for a long time" because of Godzilla 2014. Like a Godzilla movie is the best judgment of anyone's acting abilities.

Yep. In Larson’s case, a lot of that was fueled by sexist dudebros who lost their **** over a woman being the most powerful superhero in the Marvel universe. The treatment of Cotillard was probably just people not liking the movie as much as TDK (which was bound to happen no matter what Nolan did) and lashing out at anything poorly done, and of course a female character took the biggest hit. It reminds me of how people lashed out at Katie Holmes in Batman Begins and Maggie Gyllenhaal in TDK. While most fans loved those films, they had to find one weak link, which of course just HAD to be the female lead.

Yeah, inherent rule with ANY Godzilla film: the human characters and their story are 99% usually NOT the best part of them! So leave that out of your pros and cons.

Yeah, the Oscar-nominated veteran actor was CLEARLY the problem there and not the inexperienced, second-time director in waaayyy over his head.

Btw, these same dudebros are probably going to react the same way to a rumored Star Wars movie being planned about the first Jedi. Who is apparently going to be a female character.
