Hawkeye Episode 6: So This is Christmas? (Spoiler Discussion)

I thought it was a fun finale although I still thought the Loki finale was better. I have said that Loki is a better show overall because it didn't feel as congested as this one was. Sure there were a lot more characters in Loki, but a lot of those characters were basically different versions of Loki, so closure to their stories are not needed.

And I believe Fisk survives. If he can survive a near brutal beatdown at the hands of Matt Murdock, he can survive a shooting.

Yelena continues to ring false to me. The show thinks she's so cool. But she's a 5 ft tall kid with a bad Russian accent who I can't take seriously. Her dynamic with Kate is so cringe with all the compliments.

Ms. Pugh may be short in stature, but she has a very solid, non waifish build. Unlike with her Black Widow predecessor, I don't have to suspend disbelief when I see her knocking the crap out of multiple opponents.

Even if it was lifted from the comics, not even pressed about that ending with Kingpin/Echo.

He survived a triple threat match with Daredevil/Bullseye, plus a cancellation from Netflix. D'Onofrio will return.

Don't see how they MCU'd Fisk ?
He took arrows to his chest, ripped a car door open bare hands took a car to his chest as well they weren't going to show him murder a woman Christmas week

Yo I was low key surprised they allowed Fisk vs Kate to be as hard hitting as it was. He tossed her ass around like a rag doll, but she put up a valiant fight.

On the AoS front, I don't think this did anything really. Yeah, she is meant to be MCU Mockingbird effectively, but we are never given her actual name. So the AoS character can just Bobbi Morse and Clint's Wife someone else. It ain't like characters didn't pass on codenames and such.

Besides, AoS within the show itself already showed a bunch of that show was in a other universe anyway. I think I file this under that whole vague thing I think Marvel is gonna do cause they don't care much if something doesn't make sense with AoS cannon
I guess. The major discrepancy is that Bobbi Morse was most prominent on the show in the earlier seasons, when it was a lot more closely tied to events that were happening in the films. But then again, I can't recall if she was ever referred to as Agent 19 on the show either.

When they call her Bobbi next season, I'm going to bring this post up. :p

Am I crazy, or is AoS like the only thing they haven't made canon? They even made Agent Carter canon with Jarvis in Endgame of all things. They just made all of the Netflix shows canon with Fisk and that other thing that happened.

Runways, Cloak & Dagger, Inhumans, all the Netflix series... they're all in the same boat. Which is canon until strictly proven otherwise. Which they won't because they've been playing coy for years. Even just an actor appearing doesn't dictate something is canon. What Kevin Feige says does.

There is an plot hole, Kate knocked down the Christmas tree, but it was perfectly standing in the final scene for Spider-Man: No Way Home

The Netflix shows are clearly canon after the last week imo.

No Way Home comes before Hawkeye. That's why the Statue of Liberty isn't finished yet, but Yelena mentions it being so on the show.

Would've much preferred that the mid-credits scene be a tease for more Kingpin, maybe him recuperating with someone like Mac Gargan as his new enforcer. Other than that, really fun finale. This show delivered.

Loved the episode (and the Save the City post credit scene - sorry!), but one quibble I had is that Mr. Fisk appears to have brought the busted NYC skyline with him over from the Netflix shows. Jessica Jones was the first shot to break continuity by showing the Met Life building without the additional Avengers Tower/ Baxter Building stories. Hawkeye did it again in the finale with the overhead shot when we traveled to Rockefeller Center. I'm guessing a wizard moved it.

oh ok, it is hard to tell, when Marvel Studios doesn't mention where everything is placed on the timeline.

I mean even if Hawkeye came first, I'm assuming they would replace the tree lol.

Im glad to tell I really love this final. Specially Kates pre-battle speech, everything related to Yelena and the Owl was excellent. :yay: I also liked how busy the christmas party fight was.
Nice to see Eleanor is not the "classic" evil Mom again.

Only the Musical After Credit Scene was just cringe. I wished for Valentina or at least Maya.

I think the burning question we all have now is when Finn Jones as Danny Rand, the unquestioned best Defender and most beloved Marvel Netflix character, is going to make his triumphant return :o

Yup, they nailed the finale. Loved how it was a fun, Christmas-happy ending. Seeing D'Onofrio as Fisk again was a treat, but the show was never about him and he will have plenty of opportunities to show off, starting with the Echo miniseries. Renner and especially Hailee just did a fantastic job through the whole series, not to mention the great addition of Pugh. I really want Kate and Yelena together again, quite a lot actually! If I had to rank the series:
Loki/Wandavision
Hawkeye
What if
Falcon and Winter Soldier

If you think the Kate "beat" Kingpin, I'm gonna try and stifle my laughter.

She literally blew them up to prevent Kingpin from killing her. If anything, they amped him up. Dude ripped a car door off it's hinges, took an arrow to the chest, got hit full force by a car, blown up and presumably will walk away from a gunshot.

This is a Kingpin that can fight Spider-Man believably.

Haven't seen Loki, but this was the best finale of the bunch, even though I didn't think this was the strongest of episodes. Kate and Clint were great, Yelena was decent, everything else I couldn't care less about. Comic origin be dammed, the idea that anyone in this universe is surviving a point blank gun shot is annoying. As if death already means so little in the first place.

Overall though, this was a very fun show. Kate has solidified herself as one of the top MCU characters at the moment. I'm excited to see more of her in the future and I can't wait to see her interacting with other characters. Hope this isn't the last we've seen of Clint either, and that he continues to play a mentor role for her in the future, even if he's not in action. Their relationship is fantastic.

Fun fitting finale for the Hawkeye series, the final fight and Kingpin stuff was all pretty great and I liked the moment between Clint and Yelena, the touching moments were really well nailed throughout the series and they got it right again on this one. The action was top notch, a bit campy/slapstick but infitting with the rest of the tone that the show went for from the start really, I guess the cops went on holiday while there was sword fights and about a thousand "Bro's" shooting up NY on Xmas eve. :funny: but who cares when its this much fun.

Kate really came of age by the end and her going toe to toe with Kingpin, D'Onofrio is soooo good in the role still, was a great moment for her and gave her a fitting end to her arc for the show, stepping out from her mothers shadow to take charge and be the hero she wants to be, cant wait for more from her either in another tv series like this or her own feature film, I'm not sure there's a more likeable character in the whole MCU.

Overall its been a fun ride, a slowish start but from episode 3 on its been a great ride, not a game changer or anything but just a fun, Christmas time, caper and Hawkeye finally got some great moments and the fitting suit he deserved.

I can’t help but compare to action heroines played by Charlize Theron, Mary Winstead, or Rebecca Ferguson who are way cooler.

Agreed on the bolded. Some of the supporting characters I think should have had better material - Eleanor, Jack and Echo for eg, but this is similar to the Phase 1 villain issues. One of the main reasons why the MCU has had so much success is that they got the main hero characters that persist over years and multiple films right even while other things aren't perfect.
