Picard Star Trek: Picard - General Discussion Thread

Probably Picard is no longer an android this season and none of Seasons 1 & 2 happened. :o Now if only they brought back Data and got rid of Rafi.

I don't see any particular reason the golem body needs to be addressed.

I do miss the crew that aren't returning. Elnor may feel redundant with JL JR, but he and Rafi and Seven are a good combo. Soji would be great to have back, because between Lore, Moriarty, and Geordi and his daughters, a lot of room for great stuff in there.

All of the 'original' Picard characters from S1 to now (looking at you Rafi) have just been terrible. I tried to get into them, but they just don't stick. I also think the scripts for Picard are the weakest in all of the new Trek we've been seeing and it's fairly lazy that the writers are making characters drink, do drugs, and cuss like sailors every episode to give them some sort of 'edge'. Also seems like this season should've been season 1 from the jump and you make this a limited series, now we're 3 seasons in and feel like it's finally found some sort of footing appealing to fans of TNG more so than they did with seasons 1 & 2. It's wild to say this, but Strange New Worlds & Discovery are significantly stronger shows.

I mean, they have been fairly open about it having to be like Logan to get Sir Patrick back. And yes, that very much hurt the first season.

And sue me, I like the new characters. Soji, Elnor, Laris, Raffi, and Rios and his various holograms. I very much want a new show with Seven and most of those characters, and even some new we are seeing in season 3.

I don't remember about his eye implants, but I know Geordi sees the world different with his visor. He actually sees an aura around Data, so he would now see Picard differently than before. I don't know if his eye implants also see the same way or not though. So Geordi would if his eyes are like his visor was, see Picard differently now.

I agree. I think TNG-style dialogue and characterization maybe wouldn't work on screens in the current era, but 7 seasons of TNG built up such longstanding expectations in my mind, of these characters and their plots, that the new style clashes with the old like toothpaste and orange juice.

The Picard series was up against TNG nostalgia from the beginning, and...
"Nostalgia is the aching realization that you can’t go back again. The longing, no matter how intense, can never be met."

— R. C. Sproul, Jr.

I may be in the minority on this, but I'm a Voyager fan through and through. So I'd gladly take a Seven series with some Picard characters if it meant we saw Voyager cast return and dived into post-Voyager Trek a bit more. I can dream, but what if Tom Paris came back and gifted Seven a Delta Flyer v2, I'd die of happiness.

Well they did a quick reference to Picard with synth flesh, so yup still a robot or whatever they wanna call him. So now I expect Geordi to also say something about him when they meet. Also I hope they aren't planning on turning Worf into Elnor, if I see Worf flipping around I might lose it.

Thinking about how I kind of want a special, not necessarily a full show, with all the TNG kids, and just kind of realizing how weird it is that the Riker's have the youngest kids. I mean, sure, technically Soji is only 5 by season 3, but she is supposed to be older. Even Riker's son would only be about Sydney LaForge's age, and she seems to be the younger sister.

Still want a get together of Wesley, Jack, Alexander, Sydney, Alandra, Elnor, Soji, and Kestra.

A holiday special…

Picard: "Don’t worry, Number One, I’ll get you back home in time for First Contact Day."

Riker: "Rraaarrrghh!"

“A vengeful enemy Starfleet has long since forgotten” Preview “Seventeen Seconds” With New Images And Clip From ‘Star Trek: Picard’ Episode 303

Let’s get my brainstorming head on...

Parasitic beings aka Bluegill? Sela? Shinzon clone? Armus? Lore? Zorn?

Let’s rank these possible suspects:

Honourable Mention:

*Zorn (Last seen: Star Trek: The Next Generation, “Encounter at Farpoint”)

Possibility rating: 5%

5) Armus (Last seen: Star Trek Lower Decks, “The Spy Humongous”)

Possibility rating: 10%

4) Another Shinzon clone (Last seen: “Star Trek Nemesis”)

Possibility rating: 0% (As Tom Hardy)
20-30% (As another actor/actress)
50-60% (Vadic turning out to be a Shinzon “variant” or Daughter?!)

3) Lore (Last seen: Star Trek: The Next Generation, “Descent, Part II”)

Possibility rating: 20% (As the actual Mastermind behind it all)
70% (To actually be a henchmen style role)

2) Sela (Last seen: Star Trek: The Next Generation, “Unification II”)

Possibility rating: 80% (Just makes the most sense, but Terry Matalas did say Sela not in this Season, but could be misdirection?!)

1) Parasitic beings aka Bluegill (Conspiracy Aliens. Last seen: Star Trek: The Next Generation, “Conspiracy”)

Possibility rating: 90%

Here’s an out their idea: Iconians!!! (Last seen: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, “To the Death”/Star Trek: Online)

Possibility rating: N/A (They so powerful why would they need to rob the Daystrom Institute?!)

Who you think is behind the robbery of the Daystrom Institute and the attack of the Starfleet recruiting center?

The answer is obvious.

Pakleds.
Though you are obviously joking, Lower Decks had a very recent arc on them and Lower Decks is canonical to the post TNG era so not them. There was actually a similar conspiracy arc going on there too.

Which is exactly why I said Pakleds.

I hope we get a DS9 cameo. I would like to see it again. Maybe Worf goes to check out if there has been any unusual activity from the wormhole. We never got to see the TNG crew in the dominion war so I guess this is the last ditch effort for that. I am hoping for a Garak cameo with all this espionage going on, but we might get a Quark one at the very least if they go to the station.

Did Avery Brooks piss off Hollywood or something? I read that he still wants to act. Was he notoriously difficult on set?

Last I saw him Star Trek related was playing piano with William Shatner which was hilarious and weird lol

Him wanting to get back into acting would be a more recent development. Everything I've seen he just decided to **** off and do his professor stuff. And the only real way to get him back for DS9 would involve Cirroc Loften.

I don't know. Last I remember he was doing music and was an acting teacher.

Well we have a bit of a mystery setup, any thoughts on the scene with Jack? What this leads to?

From the second picture I instantly thought of the DS9 episode with the bentaca spire.

Could it be some ancient bajoran city? The celestial temple? The Prophets, or Sisko maybe? Or just some random other alien place?
