I think Jack's situation resembles Bob's from Needle (1950) by Hal Clement. The changelings have found a way to bond with solids, to increase the capabilities of both parties. Jack has unknowingly been carrying one (probably a fugitive). Worf is in a similar partnership, willingly, with one of the good changelings.
He has a Changeling STD.
What ever happened to the coalescent beings from TNG? Maybe these are actually them and not changelings. Maybe the changelings are going to help fight against the coalescent beings. Maybe the changelings and coalescents joined together to form this new variant.
As far as bonding with solids, there was a TNG episode with the progenitors that tell how they seeded life on most of the worlds. So it would really only be a matter of solving the problem once then just applying it to another race which share some common ancestor. The progenitor was actually played by the female founder from DS9. The progenitor even looked somewhat like the humanoid form of a changeling. So I wonder if all this is connected? The progenitors, the coalescents, and the changelings.
Oops, I meant to put the episodes. Both are from Season 6 of TNG. The progenitor was from S06E20 The Chase. The Coalescent being is from S06E13 Aquiel.Which episode are you referring to in TNG?
Yup, the multiple references to Section 31, its bioweapon plague against the Founders, and the emphasis on Picard and Jack's Irumodic Syndrome all suggest to me that they are planning on unleashing the poetic revenge of a similar plague against humanity. The borg have zero involvement. Jurati would prevent that. It's more likely they want the disease Picard and son have or to somehow gain access to his brain for something else. I doubt codes or knowledge he had would be up-to-date and besides they have infiltrated higher up than him already.
Jack’s description of his syndrome as "overclocked brain" makes it seem potentially beneficial — as if it’s halfway to Q-like ascendancy or something — if the harmful aspects can be managed properly. Changelings might want that for themselves, since they can fine-tune their physiologies to compensate.Yup, the multiple references to Section 31, its bioweapon plague against the Founders, and the emphasis on Picard and Jack's Irumodic Syndrome all suggest to me that they are planning on unleashing the poetic revenge of a similar plague against humanity.
All interesting theories. I am thinking changeling fanatics are trying to make a bioweapon, but I still think the borg have something to do whether good or bad with this. The only reason to introduce the fact that all the Federation ships are connected to each other now, is so that we will see someone take control of this "network". Could be Data uses it to defend or the otherside uses it to take control. Then Picard and crew will have to get an old ship from the fleet museum that isn't connected.
Sounds like Jack could be a chimera like Dal from Prodigy. Dal’s genetic mix includes 8472 DNA.Maybe the red door and vines are actually Fluidic Space where the Undine come from. So the visions Jack gets is telling him to open Fluidic Space.
I haven't seen any of the animated stuff, can you elaborate some more?Sounds like Jack could be a chimera like Dal from Prodigy. Dal’s genetic mix includes 8472 DNA.

Oh, gotcha. I think this series is more tie in for TNG,DS9, and VOY.Dal R'El is a super-Augment — possibly why his name rhymes with "Kal-El" — made from several species' DNA.
I was wrong about Species 8472 DNA being part of his genetic makeup. It's not ruled out, but it's not confirmed. A scientist tested Dal's DNA against a long list of species (including 8472). The scientist confirmed traces of some of those species but did not mention whether or not there was a match with Species 8472.
His creators' identity, and their reason for making him, is still a mystery.
The Undine are what the borg call Species 8472Who are the Undine? They don't sound like very good dinner guests.
