Wonder how high it can finish in that list. Still feels like it has a long way to go before it’s done. Great weekend drops.

You know, I was being all snobby against this film because, let's be real - critics aren't wrong, really. It's silly, hollow, eye-candy, light on substance, etc. It's Illumination, for Pete's sake.

I saw it - and it was a blast.

It can be all those things, and still be fun.

Adults have their dumb, fast-food films meant to be silly, hollow - and fun.

Kids should be allowed their movies that are just made to be fun. Not every film needs a Pixar-level of depth, life lessons, and substance.

Kids should be able to have films where they can also turn their brain off, like adults get to.

So yeah, rock on Mario. It was fun - and that's all it needed to be.

Finally caught this last night. I liked it. It’s paper thin but isn’t trying to be anything else. Pure eye candy type film and there’s enough there to get me invested in the world they’re building.

Pratt also did a good job with what they were going for. Anya was the biggest disappointment for me. She’s one of, if not the most talented actor in the bunch but she just ain’t a voice actor.

It is definitely too early, but this is the post-pandemic world now, and the exclusive theatrical window got shortened to six weeks.

Thought they’d have the brains to at least adjust when they’re on to a big win, like we saw with Maverick.

Took my mom to go see it this weekend. The movie is fine, I guess. I've been a little too spoiled on Disney and Pixar, I guess. It works as a kids movie.

Pratts voice did not improve with more exposure. And the one thing that surprisingly annoyed me was their little uses of the game musical ques. It just did not sound like they integrated them well. And it bugged me

I hadn’t kept up with the box office for this recently but looks like it’s over $1.2B now.

The animators did a great job. Everyone else, on the other hand...

I know the NCU is upon us...

I'm here for the inevitable Zelda movie now. Just hope it'll be done a lot better than the Mario movie was (in terms of the story/plot, I mean).

Although I'd also be wary of Link talking in a Zelda movie when he's always been the silent avatar for the player. Hopefully there's nothing like "well excuuuuuse me princess!"

The only real implausible thing about that pic is the idea that an Earthbound movie would be greenlit before Donkey Kong.
