The Daily Planet - Superman News and Speculation Thread

No Guts, No Glory:

Hoult gets cast as Superman.
Would be slightly disappointing, but I’d get over it. I really don’t think he’s the worst choice possible, and if he packed on some muscle, I could see the visual.

But honestly, a part of me does think we’ve gotten too caught up in singular candidates when it’s still a multi-candidate race for Supes and Lois. I’d be pleased with Corenswet and Brosnahan, but I’m trying not to get too attached at this stage of the game.

The only one I'm nervous about is Superman. Dozens of actors would be great for Lois or Lex but Superman is insanely hard to cast. Easily the hardest superhero to cast.

The depths of my disappointment would be incalculable lol.

I don't think he's gonna get cast as Superman.

I suspect it'll be Corenswet or an option we haven't heard of.

But I don't think Hoult we be the new DCU Superman.

I actually do think he's up for Lex, and not Superman, but I'm guessing.

Under the right circumstances, I wouldn’t mind Hoult as Lex, but I highly, highly doubt he’s the only one up for that role like we’ve been told.

Lex and Lois IMHO

Although I was already familiar with Brosnahan through various talk shows, awards shows, et al., it wasn't until recently that I actually watched her perform in something. You can definitely tell she's a method-trained actress, as the feisty New Yorker she plays on Mrs. Maisel couldn't be more different from her real-life background (as per Wiki, Brosnahan's originally from Wisconsin and of Irish American & British stock). But yeah, if her performance on that show is any indication of what she can bring to a character like Lois Lane, it's not surprising how she managed to nail her audition. And just look at her! Classic or modern take on the character, you can't go wrong here.

I never thought of Isaac as Lex before you mentioned it, but yeah, I can see that too. I'd much rather have him in the role than Hoult.

Oh geez more fancasting of Oscar Isaac. I swear he is the Michael Fassbender of Ryan Goslings.

I don't see him as Lex at all...but then I don't see Hoult as Lex either.
Then make an appointment with the optometrist. :o

I could see Isaac as Lex, especially if he played him like his character in Ex Machina.

Still, I think the guy would make a great Diego De La Vega aka Zorro,
but any reboot of that character is bound to be younger , putting aside the new Disney version that's been in development for a while.

Tilda Swinton.
Hugo weaving
Keanu Reeves

I’m actually counting on the trunks and a very classic suit. I think that will set Gunn’s version apart immediately- having an unapologetically comic booky suit this time around.

I am leaning towards a female actress as Brainiac.

My picks are

Tilda Swinton

Amanda Collin

To me Lex needs to be someone who can look cool but still feel evil. Oscar Isaac just doesnt give me that vibe. Lex needs to be a sociopath with level 12 intellect with a massive ego that is both his greatest strength and his biggest weakness. The actor needs to be someone who when you look in their eyes you see they are willing destroy tbe world in order to make it how how feels it sounds be.

I doubt Gunn goes that way though. I'm sure he will do a Lex closer to Bruce Wayne...ugh.

I like the fancasts for Brainy though :)

Ruth Negga or Rebecca Hall for Brainiac

Anders Danielsen Lie for Lex

Hoult wouldn’t excite me per se, but he’d be solid. Isaac would definitely be good, but the casting doesn’t feel all that inspired. Abbot would be interesting though.

I think he's fan-cast a lot because he's an excellent actor whose big-budget roles have largely misused him. I would have liked him to have a career similar to Driver, especially with how good he was in Card Collector just recently

If Corenswet's biggest competition is complete unknowns and soap opera actors then he has it in the bag imo. It was different when the rumors pointed to Elordi, Hoult and Dickinson, where I could have seen him losing it. Not as much now.
