Marvel Films The Marvel Studios News and Discussion Thread

I don't envy Disney now.

This is a Fantastic Beasts style problem. Do they bite the bullet and sack Majors like WB did Depp, and risk a rabid fanbase attempting to tear the franchise apart? Or do they delay all their projects or remove Kang and let this play out?

Oof.

Welcome to DC land, Marvel fans :frown:

Now he's been charged, they'll have to do something. It's one thing for someone to be arrested, but being charged is a different matter entirely. This could now lead to a conviction for assault against a woman. His career will be over, if this is the case.

They'll at least have to delay Loki, and any other projects involving Majors until after he's either been cleared or convicted.

Eh. Marvel Studios have recast Rhodey and Hulk before. The actor arrested only appeared in 1 movie which is their worst reviewed film so far (and dropped like a rock at the boX office). People won't boycott the Kang Dynasty when the character is played by someone else in 2 years, especially when we know the actor that would be replaced has been arrested for abuse.

This isn't as messed up as "Dc Land", that had an actor in a certain role for years. WBD still has to release the Flash in theaters. While Disney+ could just hide the arrested actor in Loki season 2 promotional videos/materials, since Owen Wilson and Tom Hiddleston are the lead actors of the show anyway.

Considering that the majority of those "Depp fans" were already out for Brie Larson's blood, its cute you think they will be an issue for Disney.

I will not blame any woman for not wanting to be the next Amber Heard.

I don't know, if the video evidence and multiple witnesses back Majors innnocence, then this could potentially be over fairly quickly.

At the very least, Disney is not gonna follow his attorney's lead .
They're gonna remain silent ,publicly, at least.

They're going to wait until the issue is actually resolved, as opposed to standing by his attorney's statements, and taking them as gospel.

Majors may end up being innocent , but Disney is wise not to run to his defense before there's a resolution to this case.

In terms of what that resolution is , that remains to be seen.

Innocent or not, his reputation is already tarnished.

The Kang Dynasty and future movies featuring Kang don't need this unnecessary drama/controversy.

Depends how the charges go though. Even if the actor is innocent and gets out, they would be still an awkward place when doing interviews.

I wouldn't be surprised if they do reshots/recasting for the series though.

I am thinking either the charges are going to be dropped or Majors is going to plead No Contest.

Tough call on this one. On one hand, sure, she is recanting whatever she said.

On the other hand, physical abuse within a relationship goes hand-in-hand with emotional abuse. She could be protective of Jonathan’s well-being, despite being harmed by him. So these texts don’t really help much.

I don’t know what to believe in regards to this situation. I’ll wait until more comes out. But it doesn’t look good to me at all.

Yeah well
"I told them it was my fault for trying to grab your phone" might as well be a line from a Lifetime movie
It's a pretty textbook abused-victim-who-can't-leave-her-a**hole-boyfriend thing to say

like, no girl, no amount of phone grabbing warrants a chokehold
...

Man, who would've guessed that the former drug-addict ex-con who started the MCU out would be the least problematic actor they've had

I really think the cab video will be one of the most conclusive evidence pieces of evidence either way.

As noted in this thread, abuse victims recant allegations constantly.

At the end of the day , the bruises and injuries have to be accounted for , and that's the rub with this case.

Officers and Doctors both examined them , so she didn't make up the fact she had bruises.

The question is, how they got there, and can the D.A. establish it was Majors who inflicted them.

So , I don't consider the texts the " smoking gun proof of innocence !" that several people on line have.
