Diamonds Are Forever feels like the first time the Bond movies were heavily influenced by the US sensibilities of the time, which continued with Roger Moore's first 2 Bond's.

Bond is kown for the cool cars, But his boats ain't half bad. I still want one like the one in the beginning of TWINE.

I'm amazed and glad at how much Daniel has grown into the role. I'm excited for this one. I think he was the right person to reboot the history of Bond with.

Diamonds Are Forever is one of the worst Bond films of all time, its only remarkable quality is the theme song.

I can only imagine being around in 1970-1971, waiting with anticipation for Sean's big return, only to walk into the theater and watch DAF.

Lea Seydoux is driving the boat, interesting.

Diamonds are Forever should be forgotten.

There are only a small handful of Bond movies that I just flat out don't like, but Diamonds are Forever is definitely one of them. Easily one of the worst in the series.

You could wipe out Diamonds are Forever to The Man with the Golden Gun.

Leave The Spy Who Loved me and For your eyes only

Maybe keep "Octopussy"

Throw away "A View to a Kill"

Basically most of the 70's are gone and you'll be out in the clear.

I like Octopussy. The only part that makes me cringe is the Tarzan yell bit. Bond dressed as a clown could have been really stupid, but I think the whole scene where he has to disarm the bomb was genuinely intense.

Hold up, Mister J, some would say you only like it out of nostalgia. :o:whatever:

That bomb scene is one of my favorite Moore-era scenes. Like you said, it was genuinely intense. People criticize it cause he dressed up as clown, but I loved the irony of him being dressed like that in that particular moment.

Octopussy is an ok film. The end scene is the last time we should've seen Moore's Bond.

People can like what they like. I like TWINE, but it is a bad film. I adore Batman and Robin, but it is a terrible, terrible film. The nostalgia comes when you start building up the films qualities based on enjoying it in the past.

The Moore films start with a bad premise. Namely that Moore is a super spy or anything like the character of Bond. Then they are full of cheese and badness. Even TSWLM.

Maude Adams was probably my favourite Bond girl of the Moore era, their chemsitry was great and by the time of Octopussy she was the only one who seemed age appropriate for Sir Rog.

Or maybe, GASP, people actually think that some movies, like TSWLM or FYEO, are legitimately good, or think that Goldeneye is a top tier Bond film without the aid of nostalgia...shocking, I know.

And I still haven't heard an argument that convinces me that they are. Maybe before Skyfall and Kingsman, but not after.

For Your Eyes Only is easily my favorite Moore film. Bond's clever, the villains and supporting cast are a nice pragmatic break from the otherwise formulaic cast of most of his films. And Marina Havelock is my favorite Bond girl, by a whole hell of a lot.

To try an sell you on it, I would argue that it's got an entertaining ensemble cast of proven actors, a nice professional spy story thanks to the MacGuffin, and a still thrilling climax thanks to the mountain scaling scene.

Just like I haven't heard a convincing argument for why nostalgia has to be the only or main reason for liking certain Bond films.

How does the quality of one good film go down because of the existence of another good film?

Seeing what's going on with Man from Uncle, do you ever think they will do a period-set Bond film? also is that something you'd like to see? I believe Tarantino wanted to do something like that if he took/was given the opportunity.

Not really interested in that idea. Sorry.

Wasn't Tarantino's idea original Casino Royale, set in the 50s filmed black and white, with Peirce Brosnan as Bond?

I'm not sure about the black and white part but I believe the rest is correct.

No not really, Batsy. I mean I grew up watching all the Moore and Connery ones and several of them I don't care for; Diamonds are Forever, The Man with the Golden Gun, Moonraker etc.

I like Octopussy for the good qualities and entertainment it has. I think Maud Adams is a great leading Bond girl and had good chemistry with Moore. Louis Jordan was very good as Kamal Kahn. The plot is interesting. The locations are terrific (India provides some beautiful imagery).

If they really wanted to change it up in the future, they could adapt the books again, but instead of them being remakes, do a literal adaptation with little-to-no action. That'll never happen, but it would be interesting to see the difference. And to have the same actor do the complete Fleming run in order of publication -- kind of like a Harry Potter deal.

Actually, oddly enough, a TV show would be right up this alley.
