Michael Bay's '6 Underground'

Sadly can't say the same for Bay's 6 Underground. I had a blast watching it, sure it was nuts, but the amount of goofs throughout were quite shocking by his standards. Camera rigs in shots, boom mic shadows and camera ops in reflections. It was all very slapdash.

I didn't see any obvious mistakes but Bay has kinda lost his meticulous approach to the technical aspects. I f**king loved TF5 but the constant changes to the aspect ratio throughout the movie was a big distraction. He and his team probably used multiple cameras and 3D rigs and Bay didn't bother to edit the movie carefully. That's not how Bay usually works but I guess he has changed his approach recently and isn't as hands on as he used to be.

I have watched a lot of Michael Bay movies. I have even enjoyed quite a few of them. I am about 50 mins into this thirst watch, and it is one of the worst things I have ever seen. This is like all of Bay's worst qualities thrown together, while he doesn't even seem to care. This movie feels like the awful film Deadpool's character in Hobbs and Shaw would come up with.

It's like he made Domino. That is what this is. It's Michael Bay's Domino.

I didn't even make it past 10 minutes

I've still got 30 minutes of this brain numbing dreck left, i just wanted to make note of the hilarious continuous continuity error with the drivers cap in the opening chase sequence in case the film finishes my braincells off.

Netflix had some disappointing news for fans of one popular Ryan Reynolds film. A new report from Variety explains that 6 Underground will not be getting a sequel. The streamer has made a point to pursue the most-watched titles on the service as they expand out. However, the Michael Bay movie ended up being a bit of a disappointment for the company. Netflix spent $150 million on the duo’s project and Scott Stuber explained how they ended up making that decision. It’s not at all uncommon for a project that fans absolutely adore to not get that chance at another go around. The streaming company has tightly-guarded secrets when it comes to how their algorithm prioritizes content. When it comes to 6 Underground, it was probably a number of factors. Not the least of which would be that price tag in the face of smaller investments yielding greater returns for the company. In spite of all of that, it has to sting for fans that were hoping for more.

“We didn’t feel like we got there on that one creatively,” Stuber said. “It was a nice hit, but at the end of the day we didn’t feel like we nailed the mark to justify coming back again. There just wasn’t that deep love for those characters or that world.”

When the movie was getting ready to release, Bay told fans about it on Instagram. “Last summer I was in Europe shooting a big movie for Netflix, all over Italy and other parts of Europe. It’s a big movie with Ryan Reynolds, big action, fun, fun flick,” Bay explained. “It’s kind of back to my old school self. I think the trailer drops Tuesday. I’m not really allowed to show that, I think the studio will kill me.”

Thanks Netflix, I coudnt made 10min through this bad drug trip.

Oh, well. I enjoyed this more than The Old Guard (which I found surprisingly dull for an action movie), but them’s the breaks I guess.
