^ Shazam's Superman must always remain faceless lol
Exactly, the standard comics approach. Core story on it's own, various tie-ins as their own thing. It worked well for the Flashpoint comic.Flashpoint storyline to expand through a few films can be good. Then they won't force everything into one single film.
I wasn't a huge fan of the Lois and Clark show, but I'm sure there would be people of a certain age who would cheer for thatCain can appear as an unnamed man (maybe a reporter) until the post credit's sequence, when he starts running in a back alley, opening his shirt revealing Superman logo. And the audience will cheer!
It's a great building up to next DCU film in line.
Of course the other major multiverse character in WW84 should be Lynda.
I remember her well on Supergirl.
It's a really amazing dream to have both her and Gadot together. I really hope it will make sense in the story. Also, Lynda needs to have a worthy role to play in the plot.
I wouldn't have thought that Burton would co-direct. Although I wouldn't be surprised if Burton was named as an exec producer or some such on Flashpoint if Keaton's involvement is confirmed, and then got the reins for a Batman Beyond movie after that.Does it mean that Burton has to share director's chair with another for Flashpoint, and that Burton takes care of every Batman scene? Or else Keaton will torn it down?
I do not ever want to see Nic Cage as Superman!I'm also curious about Burton's engagement in this. Can he do more DCU-films after this? Maybe BB as you say, but will he try to finally get his SL off the ground?
Do we want that to be done?
Not sure if Cage is the right guy for this, if he ever was. They might need to go for another actor.
But a long-haired Supes in that Burton-suit might be the strangest thing we ever will see.
If/when there's time travel back to 1984 in the 66-verse, and Dick Grayson of that year meets Keaton's Batman. What will be his reaction?
Something similar to a "Holy rubber face!" line. The whole audience will laugh out loud.
Have they said that the film will be Batman-centred? I thought the rumour was that the movie would be a straight double-header, with Batman and Flash. If Flashpoint indeed is Batman-centered, it won't just be Keaton. Then it will only be Flash and Batman. A second version of the Bat-world would make it possible to call the film Batman-centered.
Hmmm, I wonder if you're right in there being some significance in WW84 being set just before the Crisis comic...COIE was published 1985-86. And WW84 takes place just before that. Hmmmm, intriguing.

Have another idea.
I must have missed this.
But there's something going on with Trevor. It's a secret until the film comes out.
Maybe it's not him but a look-a-like?
Or Trevor from another universe? That blows my mind!!!!!
And not the least, there's something about that golden eagle armour. Is it linked to the Hawks in DCU, unlike the comics where it's her own.
Did she get it from another universe?
Can Chris Pine be Carter Hall of an alternate earth?
--The thing with Steve Trevor is that it's his spirit inhabiting another person. I can't remember if she sees him as Steve Trevor or as the actual person. The moviegoer sees him as Steve Trevor though
Hopefully they've learned now.Using Flashpoint details over a span of films, slowly building up to a climax. That's the MCU way.
DCU prefer to cram everything together as soon as possible.
Well, I'd sooner see him as Perry than as Superman!Another actor can play the lead in Superman Lives.
Cage can be..... Perry White haha
Easily done! It's probably my wishful thinking that Flashpoint will be Batman-centered. Or maybe someone else used the the term and I caught up on that. .
After using the topic for so many of my posts, it became a "fact". Lol
Nah, probably not. It would be cool though if some throwaway remark referenced something big coming 'next year' (i.e. 1985)!Don't think it has any significance at all.
They probably went with 1984 because it may be one of the most 80-esque years of the whole decade.
Or maybe the old sci fi novel share some themes with upcoming Wonder Woman? Who knows?
The only person from the TV realm I see getting in on this is Gustin, with a cameo to return the favor for Ezra doing Crisis.Keep Dean Cain away, please. I’d rather them bring in Teri Hatcher than him.
Are you ok with Helen Slater also appearing in WW84, but in a even more minor role than Lynda Carter?Hopefully they've learned now.

EDIT: Hey, I just now become aware that Supergirl was also out in 84. Wait, what?????
Which films do you want the bunch of other previous DC actors to appear in?
Other than the ones I mentioned recently, we can have Blake Lively.
Or Angela Bassett, why not include her in Shazam, acting as a straight-faced serious character, trying to gather info.
ARGUS comes into play here. Which means it will be a big deal when Black Adam shows up again.
How long would ARGUS have existed in DCU? All the way back to Justice Society? Did surviving members of JS create the first ARGUS after defeating BA the first time? The old team is supposed to meet BA in his own film, I think the flashback fight is in 1920s/1930s.
Or should it have been exclusively a branch of the government from the beginning (created also because of BA)?
If it's governmental/military, they can be gathering supernatural relics and mysterious objects.
Maybe they're partly involved with Rosewell, Area 51 and so?
Sounds like it's similar to SHIELD, and most viewers might think it's a cheap copy-cat.
Does ARGUS need to have a distinct difference to their Marvel counterpart?
By dealing with actual magical artefacts from throughout history instead of advanced otherwordly tech, it's set more apart from MCU. They shouldn't go the with the "magic and science are the same" route, but rather point out a difference between the meaning behind the words. So leave out any UFOs. LOL
How much should the Flashpoint comics be transfered to live action? Can Dick Grayson replace Bruce as Batman for a short amount of time?
What about Crisis comics which made him become Nightwing?
Should 66-verse change because of something that happened 1984-86? Are the effects caused by Flash only, or by villains with multiverse portals?
What inspirations from other cinematic time travels would be the best?
Days of Future Past/BTTF 2 (undo the bad thing at all costs)?
or
Star Trek reboot (the created alternate timeline is accepted as soon as the first big bad is defeated)?
A crazy idea I've just got is that Old Burt can appear in present day next to Robert Redford, as a replacement for West.
66-verse Bats didn't die, he just retired. If Redford didn't do MCU, it could have happened.
No other actor in that age would suit the Adam West's Bruce Wayne as much as him. Probably not many younger actors either. It's not only about being funny as one would believe.
The actor has to be classy about it, playing it straight faced and with a gentleman's aura, not simply doing it for laughs (as many younger comedians seem to think). That's cheap!
Not sure even Terence Hill could manage it, and he is/used to be good.
EDIT: Chevy Chase might had the skills to do it in his prime but that was a long time ago.
If it's indeed rebooted, the guy below is Dick Grayson! No doubt about it.
He can do lighter material too, not just brooding superdark Stranger Things stuff.
I challenge Warner Brothers now and say they can't come up with an innovative idea regarding 66-verse in Flashpoint.
Hey Warner guys! You aren't good enough!
And if you include that universe, the result won't be good, no matter how much you try.
My own suggestion (older Grayson, mid 80s) which I briefly, but not fully, described with only a few sentences - will always be better than whatever way you flesh out this suggestion for a film's plot. It will be a stinker loaded with cheap jokes and bad characterizations. Because you aren't better than so. You can't handle something like that and make it work. MCU could do it way better, and Grayson isn't even their own character.
Now, try to prove me wrong! But you won't succeed!
On what world is Superman Lives taking place? Is it actually Burtonverse, but years after Batman Returns? Just throwing out a wild idea here!
What actor would you suggest for long-haired Supes with transparant suit?
Should they go back to actors that once were tied to the role but never got it? I know that several tried out, or were wanted, before Brandon Routh.
but yes I was just thinking about that recently, about how I remember Jude Law was up for some version... that could interesting, tooAt the moment, I remember Jost Hartnett, Jude Law and Brendan Fraser. But there are others I can't remember right now...
I fell in love with Helen Slater in 1984. I'm happy to see her anyplaceAre you ok with Helen Slater also appearing in WW84, but in a even more minor role than Lynda Carter?
EDIT: Hey, I just now become aware that Supergirl was also out in 84. Wait, what?????
It's a shame Michael Gough is no longer with us. I'd love to have seen a scene where he and Michael Caine fall out over the housekeeping! A Crisis of Two Alfreds! It would never happen, but I'd like to see Brandon Routh reprise his Kingdom Come Superman from the CW's Crisis. I'd be up for seeing Ryan Reynolds' Green Lantern make a quick appearance (probably about as likely as Routh).Which films do you want the bunch of other previous DC actors to appear in?
I'm afraid I'm completely uninterested in Black Adam (or anything elseOr Angela Bassett, why not include her in Shazam, acting as a straight-faced serious character, trying to gather info.

If they can do half as good a job adapting Flashpoint as the animated movie did, it should be very good. But as to how much of the original they use, I guess that depends on how many movies they want to be direct tie-ins to FP (as opposed to just living in the reset universe once the dust has settled). It would have been nice to see Thomas Wayne as Bats (and you-know-who as Joker), but I guess the supposed way they're going with Keaton scuppers that (not that I'm complaining about Keaton!).How much should the Flashpoint comics be transfered to live action? Funnily enough I picked up the current issue of Total Film magazine today, and it has a feature on cinematic time-travel, with a physicist giving his opinions on how TT was handled in various movies (Planet of the Apes '68, Interstellar, Contact, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, Back to the Future, Star Trek '09, Days of Future Past, Endgame, The Terminator, Back to the Future II, and Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure). Once I've read that, I'll try to answer! What inspirations from other cinematic time travels would be the best?
Good luck!I challenge Warner Brothers now and say they can't come up with an innovative idea regarding 66-verse in Flashpoint.

I actually don't know, although that would kinda fit in with Clooney's line in B&R about 'that's why Superman works alone'.On what world is Superman Lives taking place? Is it actually Burtonverse, but years after Batman Returns? Just throwing out a wild idea here!
Great suggestion. Why didn't I think of him?Jerry O' Connell? maybe?
he's done some voice acting as Supers in some of the shows an animated movies

I'd love to see a ton of multiverse nods, things that would look cool to GAs - but have particular significance to die-hard DC fans
Give us more Helen Slater then
Is that something in Shazam!? I haven't seen that.Oh, no Adam-fan here. What do you think of the JS cameos in his film then?
No, I meanThomas Wayne Batman can be a little interesting side timeline.
You mean Phoenix as Joker, I suppose?
I like his voice work on the character, but I don't really see him as a live-action Superman (same with Cage!).Batman's line maybe mean that Superman actually exists in that world. Crazy to think about.
Why didn't he try to stop Mr Freeze? Because he was on vacation, lol
What do you think about Spider-Fan83s suggestion of Jerry O'Connell in Superman Lives?
It would certainly be coolI really LOVE your last sentence. They should have nods to every other pre-DCU live action all the way back to the 60/70. And not just nods, but exploring it further. Like having Smallville's Arrow in a scene with Batman because they're both masked vigilantes.
I'm beginning to drool a little on the thought of getting the old stuff to appear again: Helen Slater and all of the others.
Great suggestion. Why didn't I think of him?
Now we must convince Burton to go with O'Connell for Superman Lives. The hero will be slightly older with him, but'll work. It's not like he's going to play the role for an extended period. It will be a one-time shot.
It's the upcoming Black Adam film. Now I know you really dislike him, you even avoid the related newsIs that something in Shazam!? I haven't seen that.
Atleast Jerry's got the Superman stature and height. Cage is.... differentI like his voice work on the character, but I don't really see him as a live-action Superman (same with Cage!).
1. If the SL suit isn't strange enough by itself, having Cage wearing it as Supes..... well that's beyond words. And I don't mean something positive. Why not ask Cage to be older Superman Lives? Everybody in the fandom has seen the pre-production photographs, everybody knows he's The Superman We Almost Got (not counting that animated movie he acually did)
Michael Gough was my favourite Alfred, I miss him. And Routh by far was the best Superman in Crisis. I hope he gets that HBO Max mini.
And I love the idea of expanding on Crisis by having even more veteran cameos, ie Helen Slater, Lynda Carter, Chris O'Donnell, Sir Michael Caine and more. Plus of course Grant Gustin in trade to Ezra's cameo in Crisis.
Nostalgia sells and Hollywood is beginning to realsie this!

It's not intentional, I hear any Black Adam related news and it just bounces straight out of my head againIt's the upcoming Black Adam film. Now I know you really dislike him, you even avoid the related news
I've got no particular desire to see Superman Lives, to be honest. Superman isn't a character I've ever really managed to get invested in. The Superman stories that I do like tend to be ones that examine the moral dilemma aspect of his actions and power; what he should do, what he shouldn't do.Atleast Jerry's got the Superman stature and height. Cage is.... different
Well, do you want Superman Lives to be made in the first place? Then, what actor?
Huh? That’s what was going on business wise from the very beginning with the DCEU on film. And why they rushed a Man of Steel sequel to include Batman, and Wonder Woman AND set up an immediate follow up being a Justice League filmNever underestimate one's ability to make a marvel/dc thing.
Anyways......Keaton and Bale so colour me excited. Only thing I'd ask is that they don't change his Wayne too much as I know they're inevitably going to try and insert comedy into his character.
It will soon. Warner Brothers are following this thread and not yet decided what they should use for their DC films.Boy, does this thread need some actual news.
