I'm really trying my best to get around "Doin' It Right" but I can't, it's easily the weakest track for me.
What's so weak about it?
There are only a few "dance" tracks on this album. The rest are existential meanderings about life and love, some being orchestral in design and featuring complicated riffs and melodies. "Doin' It Right" stands out as one of the most simple and effective tracks, for me.
The song's lyrics mirror exactly what it is like to spend a night (and possibly morning) at a club as you "lose yourself to dance".
If you do it right
Let it go all night
Shadows on you break
Out into the light
If you lose your way tonight
That's how you know the magic's right
That's how you know the magic's right
--
Doin' it right
Everybody will be dancing
And we'll be feeling it right
Everybody will be dancing
And be doin' it right
Everybody will be dancing
When we're feeling all right
Everybody will be dancing tonight

It also stands out because it's the only track to have a borderline hip-hop beat, once again demonstrating the wide range of influences and musical interests that Daft Punk has. I've seen them incorporate hip-hop into their live sets and it's awesome. I also think this is one of two songs that actually uses an electronic drum machine. Most of the songs use live instruments. If there's one thing you can say about RAM, it's that it is not a cohesive sound. Technically and symphonically, it's all over the place, which is exactly how they wanted it and exactly why I love it. Something for everyone.
