1. What if Liev Schreiber had played Sabretooth in the 2000 film and he then reprised his role, the character came back, in X2?

2. Did you imagine, based on X-Men, that Sabretooth had had some kind of past relationship with Wolverine? Could sequels have revealed that he had?

3. What do you think Sabretooth did actually do after X-Men-or did he actually die in it?

4. Could/should pre-adamantium Wolverine, in a prequel film, have been portrayed as more amoral and aggressive, to where Stryker did, as he claimed, just "give him claws"? Would that have been better than what we did see in Wolverine?

1- I wouldn't have liked it, frankly.
Between 1983 and 1999, Victor Creed underwent a secondary mutation, or just was experimented upon. He turned into Sabretooth. Having Tyler Mane depicting him was much more effective for that phase.

2- Maybe. In 1999 (X1), Sabretooth had some reminiscences when he picked Wolverine's dog tags.
About the year X1 and X2 are both set in:
"Not too distant future" for First Class and its era. It's not a "too distant future" from a 1962 perspective, indeed. Cyclops was 18 years old in 1983, as proved by Apocalypse. This means that the events of X-Men Origins, where Cyclops was (also) 18 years old, occurred 15 years before X-Men 1 and X2.
Rounding it up: 1999.
The only way to set X-Men 1 in 2003/2005 or so is disregarding X-Men Origins as part of the main universe and assuming that it's an alternate universe. The debate is open.

3- I think he cannot die.

4- No, the other way around. Wolverine has always been an antihero. He became more aggressive because he had no memory anymore. Frustration.

the way Sabretooth looked at Logan's nametags... would suggest he knew more about Wolverine the he let on

or maybe, the nametags, even just triggered a memory he didn't even know he had

he couldn't understand it but, he felt had some connection to those tags

or maybe that just coming from a retrospective POV, after seeing their past eXplored in xo:w (an just knowing of their history in the comics )

at the time that movie was made maybe it wasn't suppose to have any meaning, other then that he took the tags as a trophy

It's a shame that Sabretooth, one of the more well-known X-baddies, only has these two appearances, and in every way that matters, they're two different characters.

At the end of the day, the filmmakers put in almost zero effort to reconcile Liev's and Tyler's portrayals, leaving fans to do all the heavy lifting of trying to tie them together.

Compare it to Howard Stark in the MCU. John Slattery and Dominic Cooper don't much feel like the same guy and have very different approaches to the character, but over the course of Howard's different appearances, the filmmakers commit to the idea that this is the same man at different points in his life.

On Sabretooth's episode of CEREBRO podcast, Connor noted that Victor's character history in the comics is very confusing because he gets a new retcon nearly every time he appears. Still, I'm hoping for a more unified vision for the character the next time he appears in live-action.
