The Dark Knight The Non-Spoiler Critic Review Thread

I loved this! These guys are hilarious, I thought the tone of their review was just great. Nice, lengthy discussion of the film. No major spoilers. The only one that jumped out at me was them referencing a scene that was shown inthe HBO Special....[blackout]Sal Maroni being dangled out a building[/blackout]. If you already saw that scene, you'll be safe to listen to this without fear of being spoiled.

Thanks Keyser Soze! We appreciate the kind words. We'll have the edited video version of this review out by tomorrow. :)

Another bad review on Rotten Tomatoes from About.com. I'm not posting the link because apparently he drops a HUGE spoler that's unmarked (what a jerk!).

But it was offset by a glowing four star review by Roger Ebert.

I'm glad Ebert liked it, he liked BB also!

I remember watching the Ebert & Roeper video with them reviewing BB and they gave it two thumbs up, it was the first batman film to get that rating ever, even before when it was Siskel & Ebert!

It's up to 91 on Rotten. However another neg. review this time from About.com...this is what he says:

Plodding, puffed-up kitsch mistaking itself for profound psycho noir that the source material won't support.

 Have these guys EVER read or seen past the 60's series? What the hell! I could name a dozen GN and Batman series that explore psychosis of the villains and batman, that delve into the forensics of crime and behavior. Do these people do any research?

UGH to add salt he gave it 1 of 5 stars. NOTHING about this movie is impressive? Cinematography? Editing? Score? Costume/set design? Nothing? He didn't think the Tumbler was cool?

This is TOO fanboyish!

EDIT # 2:

SURPRISE ****ING SURPRISE!
The idiot is based in New York!

I am a writer and film critic based in New York City.

I can't understand that. I just can't. I may not be a scholar on Batman but I've read my fair share and they are pretty darn dark. This guy...how can you make such a claim if you yourself obviously have not done you're research. Please pick up The Dark Knight Returns or The Long Halloween!!

Hell even the old Batman series with Adam West involved Batman as the world's greatest criminal investigator. Joker as the greatest criminal. Yes it was light-hearted, but at the time so were the comics to an extent. So for this idiot to claim that the source material can never support a crime drama is such an extreme that I'm having trouble believing that this guy isn't an obsessive fanboy.

Well that moron loved the Black Dahlia so what does that tell ya?

and What Happens in Vegas and Never Back Down and agrees with the RT meter 50% of the time.

so he's pretty much an idiot.

OMG! OMG! OMG!

ANOTHER Neg. Review from New York! NY Press this time! Are you serious?

That Jurgan *****ebag pissed me off so maybe I'm over reacting but...**** me, I'm PISSED! :o:cmad:

What the **** is with NY?

I love this review in the in sums this movie up to a close cousin of There Will Be Blood - last years runner up for best film of the year - and does so as a criticism against the movie. :lmao: What a tool :lmao:

^^ He didn't like There Will Be Blood?! WHAT? That movie is amazing!!! I drink your milkshake!!!

The Black Dahlia was my worst movie experience I can recall in some time.
