That Jurgan *****ebag pissed me off so maybe I'm over reacting but...**** me, I'm PISSED!

What the **** is with NY?

Man, what a PATHETIC review!

I've not really had too much of a problem with the other negative reviews, but this one really annoyed me. Perhaps because of the wide, sweeping assumptions he makes about how anyone (critics and viewers alike) who likes the movie is just a mindless sheep bowing to what's "hip" in cinematic trends.

Plus, he loses what little credibility he had by praising "The Black Dahlia" and slamming "There Will Be Blood".

EDIT: Also, while the other negative reviews at least praise Ledger, this critic evidently takes delight in being the first to give him a critical hammering for his "one-note" and "overrated" performance.

and that There Will Be Blood's Daniel Day Lewis' performance of Plainview is, and I quote, "...the most remarkable movie performance since Eddie Murphy’s Norbit trifecta."

I think the majority might be, but that guy from Star and The New York Press seem to be genuine fools.

Very very positive review at New York City's Village Voice.

Nothing too spoilerish unless you haven't seen the prologue and haven't seen a certain picture of Joker in the street in daylight wearing dark blue.

That makes The Dark Knight sound like heavy stuff—and it is. But I should add that Nolan also delivers the kick-ass goods, from an opening... à la Michael Mann to ....mayhem à la William Friedkin. So The Dark Knight will give your adrenal glands their desired workout, but it will occupy your mind, too, and even lead it down some dim alleyways where most Hollywood movies fear to tread. By the end of this second installment in that rare franchise one hopes won't end anytime soon, Batman seems to have less in common with his superhero brethren than with those old frontiersmen of movies past. Like The Searchers' Ethan Edwards and High Noon's Will Kane, he's left to ride off into the darkness, pondering the uncertain destiny of principled men in an unprincipled world—as are we.

I love this review in the in sums this movie up to a close cousin of There Will Be Blood - last years runner up for best film of the year - and does so as a criticism against the movie.

Thats what I noticed too. When a movies negative reviews end up telling you something GOOD about the film, thats something special

Yeah, that has struck me too. Like that first negative review, calling the film mean-spirited and sadistic... hey, that sounds good to me! And yeah, other negative reviews have called it "overlong" and "pretentious". Hey, I rank my fave film as "Magnolia", which has often had both words associated with it.

well reading the negative reviews, MOST (not all) of their tastes of the PERFECT batman film in their mind, im silently thinking "eew!" to. Its a good sign.

If this guy gets sick and annoyed when he sees super serious and gloomy batman films, I get equally weirded out with incredibly silly and arbitrary films where im like "wtf was the point of that, no wait... that too...?"
