The Amazing Spider-Man Moviehole scoops details on both scripts...

No, I said VARIOUS other movie sites that said the studio changed Black Cat to Vultress.

That article does kind of mesh with everything that is out. No source said putting Black Cat in the first place was Raimi's idea. Putting her in might have been the studio's idea, and then they may have changed her to Vulturess after reading the script and thinking she would come off as a Catwoman rip-off.

SM4 was doomed because Sony chose to not let Raimi make his movie. Not due to Raimi's ideas, cause it seems like his ideas make sense from a going forward and ending the series stand point. Maybe Vulture being the editor of the Bugle would have worked really well the way Raimi had envisioned it. We don't know. But, I do know Sony wasn't allowing him to make his movie. How can we trust Sony to do that with the next cast/crew, if they wouldn't for a man whom made them billions of dollars and was responsible for one of the most popular trilogies in recent history? I don't see it.

Raimi may be gone, but Sony is still involved. Don't forget that.

No what's pathetic is people thinking "Make it more TDK" like means taking away Spideys biggest selling point completely.

Use your ****ing loaf.
Wait. Is this directed at me or some other crowd? Could you varify?
By more mature direction, what do people exactly mean? I get the whole "not TDK" thing but how mature do people want it?

I thought the films managed to balance the maturity and the lighter side fine. The goofy stuff is all apart of SM.

I just need more clarification in terms of maturity. Because at times when it needed to be, the films were veru mature.

People around here act like they were playschool toned films. I mean christ, have we forgotten about the hospital scene?
Personally, I don't want to see it be "completely" mature. We're in high school with Spidey, this time around. I'd love to see more focus on the characters in this reboot. I'd love to see Peter make dumb decisions and learn about them overtime. If they want to turn this into a mature-drama, why did they even bother calling out a reboot when they could've made 'Spider-Man 4'?

Raimi gets to exit the Spider-Man franchise with his legacy minimally tarnished, and now if Spider-Man Begins sucks, it's all on Sony. At least Raimi didn't let the studio force him into doing something he didn't want again, like with Venom in Spider-Man 3.

I find it pretty hilarious how so many fanboys were praising how now Spider-Man could be "truer" to the comic and that Spidey himself would be funnier, and now we find out that it's going to be a high school version of The Dark Knight. LOL.

Heh, I'm trying to imagine what a high school version of The Dark Knight would be like. :woot:

simple sm4 script was crap reboot is atleast what they wanted

If they are going in a DARK KNIGHT direction with this movie, I hope they base this movie off of Kurt Busiek AMAZING FANTASY mini series from the 90's, which picked up the numbering from original AF series.

What the heck is a vulturess? LOL
Peter and MJ with a baby? I have a feeling that the baby would get stolen by the vulture . HOW TYPICAL!
I'm glad Sam is out

They mean the STORIES will be darker. Like the Death of Gwen Stacey or Kravens Last Hunt.
How do you know this? They may very well mean more like TDK in general. It's not a good thing to thrive off the success of antoher film. It's like I said plenty of time, Ending S-M4 was the worst move Sony could have possibly made. No, it wasn't Raimi. Raimi stood his ground and said "no", like he should.

In my opinion Vulture is lame anyway. The only time he's been decent, for me, was in Identity Disc.

If Raimi wanted to use Lizard in SM4 (y'know, after using Doc Conners in all 3 films) then I would be upset at this.

But Raimi's ideas for SM4 were absolutely crap IMO. Sure Sony wanted Vultress, but Raimi wanted Vulture as the head of the Bugle, for some stupid reason. And Raimi wanted Pete and MJ to have a baby, which would automatically increase the crappy relationship melodrama that most people have been complaining about. AND it would inevitably lead to Pete questioning whether he should be Spidey... AGAIN!

There is no way in hell SM4 would reach the heights of SM2. So why bother?

The Lizard should of been in part 3 but sam raimi doesn't like his characters to not have a human face. Crazy right?

I'm sick of these studios trying to make their comic films dark as TDK.
Batmn is a dark character so it works. Unlike Superman, Spider-Man, etc.

It can still be light and still have a serious tone to it as well.

The first Spider-Man and second film were light but still had a serious tone to them.

Well, they've talked the talk, but haven't walked the walk yet, which is something people should realize. TDK came out in 2008, and since then, we've been hearing about all these studios who want to make their comic films "more like TDK." However, if I'm not mistaken, we've yet to actually see any of these said films to really see what they had in mind. I'm holding off as much as I can on complaining too much about the studios trying to make things "more like TDK" until I actually see it for myself to get a better sense of how I feel about that term and how it works with the film itself.

How I imagine it, Spider-Man doesn't fit that style at all. I would really like to hear "more like Iron Man" used instead when talking about this reboot. That's the film that I think they should mold this after. The Incredible Hulk is another fine example, as well.

It's aimed at ANYONE who seriously believes Sony, a money making corporation, would take Spider-Man, a character worth MILLIONS, a character worth MILLIONS mainly because of his great personality, and change him beyond recognition into a ****ing dark, gritty vigilante.

to be fair to sony there is a precident for darkness in the spidey comics

* death of gwen stacy
* death of captain stacy
* kraven's last hunt
* jean de wolfee(sp) blown in half with a shot gun
* ned leeds with his neck sliced open

if they introduce lizard then going dark may actually enhance the story but there should be light (not camp, there is a difference) moments.

when posed with a question of direction for spidey, ask yourself 'what would stan do?'

for pete sake stan lee throw peter's long term girlfriend off a bridge and broke her neck when pete tried to save her.

Yea people go on about Spidey comics being all light hearted and crap like that. Well, they ain't, not all the time.

There's death and destruction all of the Spider-Man comics. Aunt May's died, Mary Jane's died (both came back however.), he just made a deal with essentially Marvel's version of the devil not too long ago (worst.spidey.story.ever.).

It's not like Peter's life is nothing but lighthearted frockling in the sun.

Yea but as soon as they mention TDK?

OH NOEZ THEY ARE CHANGING SPIDEY INTO A DARK AND GRITTY VIGILANTE!!!1111

kraven's last hunt is one of the darkest (mainstream) comics I've ever read. peter digging himself out of a grace creeped me out as a kid.

I'd love to see an adaption of Kraven's Last Hunt on screen, asides from the Death of the Stacy's. It's probably my favorite Spider-Man story.

I wanted to see a mish mash of the Lizard story and Kraven's Last Hunt in Spidey 4. Kraven hunting Lizard with Spidey caught in the middle. Would of been great IMO.

But no let's use Vulture instead!

kraven's last hunt with the lizard rather than vermin practically writes itself.

Vulture's by far not a terrible villain. But what Raimi wanted to seem to do with him was the same thing he did with Ock and Sandman. Make him someone closer to Parker than he should be.

With Ock it worked, but it failed miserably with Sandman.

So Raimi is somehow an idiot for not using the Lizard, in part cause Sony doesn't want to use the Lizard?

Does this mean that in the reboot we'll automatically hate the new guy for not using the Lizard also? IF THERE IS NO LIZARD, I WILL SCREAM BLOODY MURDER!!!!

No Lizard, no new Spider-Man films. I'm starting a petition!

an insider (who has got a lot right) said sony passed on lizard because they (sony) want a villian with a HUMAN face, obviously scared off by the green goblin mask. its enterely possible we'll never see lizard on the big screen (unless the rights revert back to marvel and marvel themselves do it).
