The 2012 Presidential Debates: Vice-Presidential Debate

The vice president debate was great and I think Biden won that one. I love how everyone is saying Biden was rude and disrespectful, yet no one seemed to have a problem when Mitt was standing there with a smirk on his face and cutting the president off serveral times. There was a few times Ryan like Mitt was vague about things. And I find it funny that people say the President Obama is a liar yet,but they are supporting Mitt Romney who is known for flip flopping on issues and saying whatever he thinks he needs to say to get votes. Who wants a president that changes his positon on issues on a daily bases? Even fellow republicans have called Mit a liar who says whatever to win votes. I honestly don't believe Mit or Ryan care about the middle class every day citizens, but it all comes down to what you believe and stand for. We will see what America wants late November 6th or early November 7th.

Just checked Intrade. Obama's stock dropped after the Biden debate. If Biden won, at best he "re-energized" the base. Speculation is he alienated a lot of moderates and independents with his tickle me Elmo routine.

Apart from message boards,I've yet to come across a person or poll that thinks Biden won outright.People seem to say either it was a draw or Ryan won.

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-250_162-57531577/who-won-the-vp-debate-why-the-polls-were-so-different/

CBS poll had it 50% Biden 31% Ryan

(note this was just polling undecideds)

http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/10/13/us-usa-campaign-debate-poll-idUSBRE89B1AK20121013

Reuters had it

Biden 42% 35% Ryan

One thing I notice is most people who claim Ryan won don't say he won on the basis of actually substance it's more a case Biden was rude and laughed so Ryan won by default. Most people who think Biden won it feels like he won on the basis of substance or controlling the debate. To be honest it seems like most talking heads on the right are part of the Wahhhhmbulance. Romney is pushy and over talks over people that's great, but when Biden does it he is rude.

Ryan looked and sounded like a professional politician whilst Biden looked like an actual human being. Even with the chuckling, I thought Biden came across as more sincere (especially in his answer in regards to abortion) and that can make all the difference.

I think this debate probably turned more people off one of the candidates, than changed their mind to vote for one or the other....not sure polls can show that or not.

My whole entire premise was if Biden cut the Tickle Me Elmo crap, he would have won it in a more clean and obvious fashion. That would have actually helped the Obama campaign.

He already had the gravitas nailed down, his overcompensation cost him some independents and moderates. In other words, I am pointing out he was trying to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory the entire night.

Yeah, that is how I saw it.....I read the transcript first....which is what I'm going to do for the next two debates....I REALLY LIKED DOING THAT FIRST, MADE A BIG DIFFERENCE....and I thought Biden won, not by a whole lot, but it was a strong win.....then I saw it, and I thought WTF, had he been drinking some of that Kentucky Bourbon before he went on....it was weird. So, honestly it depends on if you watched it on TV, or listened to it on the radio.

I would break it down this way...
Read the Transcript only: DEFINITE Biden win...
Listened on radio only: Biden win, but very close...
Watched on TV: Biden won, but he was a jack ass....lol

And if people were mad because of the bias of the moderator? Oh hell, that was nothing......just wait...lol

And who the hell was she? Never heard of her....

I dont get people who saw Ryan is handsome. Seriously? JFK and jFK jr were handsome politicos. Even a young Al Gore. Ryan is an odd looking guy.

Ryan is not fugly. He has the "Eddie" thing going on with the hairline and literally says "Heh!" a lot (who does that? ). But I wouldn't kick him out of bed. He's okay.

But he's nowhere as handsome as either of the JFK men.

However, his good looks are not enough to secure my faith in him as a plausible POTUS--no more than Obama's obvious photogenics did nothing for me in 2008. S*** like that has never mattered to me in terms of my votes, because I'm not sleeping with any of these people, ergo, not getting any of THAT "government dole". :funny:

Every single person I know that is from Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba....

I wish they had Presidential debates on radio again.

I think the point of the debate from Biden's POV was to energize the base, which i think he did. I think this election is more of a drive out the base kind of election at this point then try turn the 4-5% of independents

Well that's better then Obama going "uhhhhhh" which he did all to often last debate

He could have accomplished all that and more if he cut out the tickle me elmo moments down to a third

I think that depends, the more grins, the happier the far left is. the happier the far left is the more likely they will be going door to door trying to push their candidate.

It would have been a more decisive win in my scenario. And that would have made the left happier at the very end. But all they got is this:

I saw Joe Trippi right after it finished...he was the first person I saw after the debate ended on TV... he said that Biden had a strong debate but it was diminished by that laughing.... that is kind of how I think.

I have to say I was surprised at the CNN poll after the debate, I thought Biden was the clear winner, but I think watching it on TV gave people a different view than what I got from just reading the transcript at first....

Vice Presidential Debate Polls Show Mixed Results

And who the hell was she? Never heard of her....
ABC's Senior Foreign Affairs Correspondent Martha Raddatz. She's quite good at what she does.

The left feel that Biden came out with passion and determination, and further proved he's in touch with the middle class. The right always thought Biden was a goofball, and nothing was going to change that.

Neither side is ever going to compliment the other.

I don't watch much ABC news....except for Nightline, never seen her.

Not everyone on the left thought that....but if they wanted a much stronger debate for their party, this was definitely that debate....

Such is life. Not everyone can be made happy.

If what makes you happy, and think your man won is that he was rude, condescending, interrupted 84 times, and laughed at every comment, besides make some solid points????? such is life, shows the respect, or actually lack of you have for your leaders...

See, I see little integrity on either side....this campaign is the most disgusting I have seen in my 30 years of following Presidential campaigns....but at least I can see it....

2004? Although that one was more one side in lack of integrity

This Presidential Campaign has so out done the others, combined they don't even match it....and the fact that people are ok with it, because their man's hands are not in it, is just weird...and only worth a "head shake"... if that...
